Looks like he caught a good one in the midsection. If that’s where the Lakewood cop shot him, it probably ruined his appetite; or, if he ate anything, it leaked out and dribbled down his navel. I guess you could say he was “cholostomy bag-ready.” He’s got another one in the side that may be high enough to have nicked the lung, but it’s the slug that hit him just below his right eye that took him out. He probably was dead before he hit the ground.

Notice that there are no other shots on his front, as per first reports he was going away from the officer – and this – why has he been stripped naked? More scorn heaped on him? If they were trying to save him why wasn’t he scooped up and rushed to the hospital? Intead time was taken to secure him, strip him, and then hold him on the street like this. There are things about the end to this that cause concern about how street justice is being meted out.

Actually, the photo doesn’t make him look like a monster. It makes him look human, like everybody else. There may not be any dignity in showing this image, but it is humanizing.

He was probably NOT mentally ill, not only because he obviously had the capacity to plan the crime and elude capture, but he had already “played the system” in Arkansas to get out of jail. He “found religion” in prison in AR, hoping to capitalize on then Gov. Huckabee’s penchant to offer clemency to inmates who “found Jesus.” When he raped the child relative earlier, and was caught, all of a sudden he started “acting” strangely – likely to begin to build a defense for what would have been this “third strike.” He owned and managed several properties and as well operated more than one business – his somewhat sudden turn for the worst reportedly began (conveniently) after his most recent serious crime.

He is not on the street in this photo. He is in the back of an ambulance on a gurney.
1. If I remember Police and EMS procedure correctly (used to be a Paramedic), the officers will handcuff even a possible dead suspect after an incident like this. There have been cases where the (assumed) “dead” perpetrator lived long enough to attack the officer when the officer approached.
2. He is stripped naked because the EMS folks wanted to see his injuries and see if they could save him. It’s part of the job, save them all, good or bad. You can’t treat injuries that you cannot see. It is standard procedure to cut off all clothes.
3. All reports are that he died instantly on the scene. After cutting off the clothes, if the patient (suspect) appears dead, they will attach a heart monitor to confirm death. They PROBABLY (just a guess here) put his body in an ambulance to get it out of the view of the public/press until the coroner could arrive and take over the scene. It’s unfortunate that someone decided a picture was the best thing to do, but there you have it.

Looks like they cleaned him up prior to the photo–can’t tell if that was in the ambulance or in the ME facility, but the surface below is defintely not street.
9mm rounds? I’d expect bigger entrance wounds and evidence of exit wounds (especially from the head shot) if they were larger caliber.

I don’t know, but my guess is the medics cut away his clothing to work on him. Just because a trauma victim looks dead doesn’t mean they give up on him. The EMTs usually keep trying to revive them and let the ER doctor pronounce them dead. Those white spots look like EKG patches. They’d have to strip off clothing to attach those. He sure looks peaceful in that pose. Probably the most reasonable mood he’s been in for quite some time.

This is really weird. We are all a little strange.
It was reported that when he murdered the 4 police officers, at least one officer was able to return fire and wound him. It is my understanding that the belly shot is the wound he received from this. He is reported to have cleaned this wound and stuffed gauze or something in his shirt to cover the wound – thus, he wouldn’t have been bleeding from it as much. If he was killed instantly, there would be no heart pumping to displace the blood out of his body except that for which gravity would cause to escape. If he fell on the pavement, he could easily have suffered facial abrasions.
All that being said, what’s the big deal about a photo of a dead murderer? His family is crying that ‘They are going to make our family suffer for what he did’ (quote from Clemmons’ niece Destiny Hinton) and “Open, uncovered. My uncle’s body,” Hinton said. “I don’t even have a word to say what it is, but it’s really hurtful. My son was really hurt from that. My family is going to be hurt from this. It’s just really hard.”
How about the slain officer’s children having to look at their dead parent’s body lying in a casket, all because of Clemons? What about their hurt? And why is Ms. Hinton’s son seeing this picture anyway? As a responsible parent, why has she allowed him access to it? If she was so concerned about the effect on him, why didn’t she prevent him from exposure to it?
What a load of crap. Maybe she should show it to him and tell him to take a good long look at it so he doesn’t end up like him.
It never ceases to amaze me when the family of these murderers cry about how these criminals are mistreated. They rush to the streets to protest when a cop kill a civilian but when the civilian kills the cops, they are silent (except to whine about how the dead guy is depicted).
