…I’m picking England, 2-1.
Also, I’m participating in the Times’ King of the Cup competition, And you can make your picks for Round One right now. (Somebody has got to take North Korea over Brazil. You could be that person.)
My favorite soccer ads are after the jump.

I’m picking Patty Murray over Dinosour, 56% to 42%. If Dino spends $20 million and campaigns vigorously, he has a longshot chance to beat Richard Pope’s statewide numbers by one or two percentage points.
And, even more impressively, a 42% result would beat cigarette smoke by a full four percentage points, earning Rossi the distinction of being the only Republican in our state who can consistently outpoll second-hand smoke.
However, for the time being, Richard Pope remains one of the GOP’s top statewide vote-getters, second only to Rob McKenna, even though Pope is actually a Democrat.
If one of the tea partiers somehow beats Dino in the primary — and anything is possible in today’s radicalized GOP — then it’s Patty by 75%, maybe even 85%.

I still can’t figure out why South Africa decided to build all of their stadiums inside of giant beehives.
slingshot spews:
This stadium is crazy. It’s the home of two teams; FC Bayern MÜNCHEN and TSV 1860 MÜNCHEN. It’s opaque, and whichever team has the next home match the thing glows their respective colors.
slingshot spews:
USA, 2-1.
Uh oh, Chongo! spews:
Tie
2-2

I’m calling it a draw as well. Rooney gets a goal in the first 15 minutes, but makes up for it with a red card for dissent in the second half. Edson Buddle continues his form of late and gets an equalizer midway through the second, and the US is denied a winner by the woodwork at least once (and not by England’s keeper – they’ve been a weakness since Peter Shilton hung up his cleats – why else do the US’s top three keepers all play in the EPL?), but is otherwise happy with the 1-1 draw.
