Greg Stephens, 60, a Republican from Maltby, said he pleaded guilty to molesting a 9-year-old relative nearly 30 years ago rather than contest the allegation and drag his family through a trial.
What an odd defense, after pleading guilty to a sex crime. Does this in fact constitute perjury? If someone knows they are innocent and they plead guilty. Seems like for the sake of justice he is duty bound to defend himself. Of course the excuse sounds fishy.

That’s all we heard back between Nov 2004 and Bridges’ decision from the right wing idiots.
Felon, felon, felon, felon, felon….
And yet Bridges lowered Rossi’s final vote count based on the evidence brought to his court.
And now this… One for the ages to keep handy for the next right wing gas attack over elections.

@2 Yes, based on my 35 years’ experience as a lawyer, I would say that if you plead guilty you’re, like, you know, pleading guilty. And that makes you guilty for, like, the rest of your life. Lawyers are supposed to explain this to their clients.

Now, it’s true that a deferred sentence plea deal can make a conviction go away, but until it’s been cleared off your record you’re, like, you know, guilty …

I know, I’m preaching to someone who will never see the light.
You clearly misunderstand the nature of the ACORN fraud (and yes it was fraud.) ACORN paid people to sign up voeters on a per-registrant basis. Several of those filled out false registrations.
See, if you stand in front of Fred Meyer asking for people to register you will probably get paid less than if you sit at home and fill out 200 registrations yourself.
But what you, and your righty ACORN bleating friends refuse to acknowledge is that if ACORN hire #59 fills out hundreds of people who don’t exist, those people don’t show up and vote. (They don’t exist right? So how do they show up at a polling place with a voter ID card or other proof of registration?)
The fraud was commited by employees billing ACORN for work that wasn’t actually completed.
And REALLY?!? Are you saying that an admitted child molester is fit for public office? Hell you’re side still has their jockeys in a wad that a President got a blowjob from an adult. So how do you justify a child molester?

Sidebar, if a Felon who is ineligible to vote fills out a registration, the person commiting the fraud is the felon. NOT the person who accepted the registration, or the organization for whom they work.
