What’s next … employers telling workers to get castrated? I wouldn’t take a job with a boss like that! In fact, I don’t want any job, because wage earners are taxed to death. Playing the stock market takes less effort, you can’t be laid off, and the taxes are 1/3rd as much. Workers are disrespected, mistreated, and underpaid. I don’t see why anyone works. If you have balls and want to keep ’em, you won’t wait to be fired, you’ll tell the boss to take his job and shove it!

One fascinating delusion that is critical to wingnuttia’s approach to healthcare is that individuals control their own healthcare decisions when insurance companies pay for healthcare. Naturally, we all know that profit-oriented insurance companies make better and more fair decisions concerning the bottom line than does any government bureaucrat, right?
@2 No, private insurers do let you make your own health care decisions. You have to pay for them yourself, that’s all. All they do is take your premiums. Nothing that costs more than a couple hundred bucks is actually covered by “insurance” anymore. Anything over $250 is considered “experimental.”
I wonder if this trend continues, when more of us boomers start shuffling off this mortal coil, our families will find out our life insurances policies had been “amended” along the way to make them null and void in case of death.

Welcome to the world of health care as determined by insurance company policies, which are dictated by the CEO’s bonus triggers in his compensation agreement. If the company profits go up another notch, he gets a few more millions (per year). Kind of a strong incentive to deny or restrict coverage.
Went to my doctor for a physical on Friday. We spent thirty minutes going through my insurance company’s website, trying to figure which labs I could use for tests, and what medications are covered under which “tier” under the prescription plan.
Best I can figure under the new plan amendments effective August 1st, I have to pay the first $80.00 of any prescription medication which doesn’t have a $4.00 generic available, and then 20% of any cost in addition to the $80.00, up to the point which the insurance company determines to be a “reasonable charge” (anything over $100.00 is “unreasonable”). Since I have a $10.00 copay which takes care of any $4.00 generics, then the only amount the company will ever have pay is 80% of the difference between $80.00 and $100.00, (which is $16.00, for the math-challenged). I will have to pay $84.00, plus any amounts the drug companies charge over $100.00
Stupid system.

Question. I can think of roughly 10 car insurance companies off the top of my head. If I apply to one for auto insurance and they deny my application, what should happen?
A) I should apply to the 9 other car insurance companies.
B) Private auto insurance companies should be banned, and the federal government should take over the entire auto insurance business.

Why do you HATE America?
If you have a pre-existing condition (and just about everyone over 40 has one), private health insurance is unaffordable for most of the middle class, if you can find an insurance company which will cover you at all. Most will jack up your premiums due to the pre-existing condition, but then exclude anything remotely related to that pre-existing condition for a period of several months to a year. Not exactly an equal playing field with respect to shopping around for insurance. That’s why most Americans have to rely upon employer-provided insurance plans, with whatever restrictions those plans include.
If you want to shop on the market, beware of companies that investigate your application once you file a claim. They might take your premium for years, even decades, but when a potentially serious health condition arises, then the start a serious investigation of every aspect of your medical history. They want to see all your records from any doctor you’ve ever visited. If your doctor’s records show your blood pressure slightly elevated on one visit ten years ago (maybe you just had an argument with your boss), and you didn’t mark “high blood pressure” on your application, then they will cancel your policy “due to fraud”, and deny your claim – leaving you uninsured just when you need it the most, even if the item not mentioned has nothing to do with the claim.

I do understand the point you almost made about free market but you failed to get the point of the commercial. It’s not that she was denied insurance, it was that the insurance company was requiring that she be sterilized to keep her insurance through them.
When a corporation requires something like that of a human being then the corporation no longer should be allowed to exist.

Since polling show only 20% of America identifies with the GOP in general and a somewhat smaller portion of the GOP is made up by the Rabid Reich it would appear you (the Rabid Reich) do not represent America.
