Via Blue Oregon, I see that PPP are asking for suggestions for what they want polled in OR, OH and MA. But it got me thinking of some things I’d like polled in Washington.
- I know it’s my hobby horse, and nobody else cares. But I’d like to see if there’s any support for making it necessary to get 2/3 of the legislature to cut education or social services.
- I don’t trust the conventional wisdom on the 10th district. I don’t know that a district that’s largely exurban and suburban Pierce County and has Joint Base Lewis-McChord in the middle of it with Olympia (and Olympia’s suburbs) should be considered safe for Democrats. I’d like to see polling confirming that.
- Since we’re on this blog, how about “Is Tim Eyman a Horse’s Ass?”
But enough of me saying what I’d like to see, what would you like to see in polls in Washington State?

“Since we’re on this blog, how about “Is Tim Eyman a Horse’s Ass?”
No, but he’s wasting his efforts by not supporting total legalization of cannabis. At least working to legalize this recreational substance is something most of the usual suspects (and some of the trolls) on this blog support.
Michael spews:
LOL… At first I thought that headline was “who would you poll.”
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Carl’s question was not whether you think Eyman is a Horse’s Ass, but whether you’d like to a poll done on that issue.
Serial Conservative spews:
I suppose I might poll how many Democrat Congressional representatives are definitely planning to attend the DNC convention this year.
I might do it more than once, given events of the past week:
On Monday, it was announced that West Virginia’s top 3 Democrats, US Senator Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall are not going to be attending next Septembers DNC convention.
West Virginia’s top three Democrats will not attend their party’s national convention in September, the West Virginia Democratic Party said Monday.
U.S. Sen. Joe Manchin, Gov. Earl Ray Tomblin and U.S. Rep. Nick Rahall do not plan to help pick President Barack Obama as their party’s nominee.
Each man is a super-delegate to the national nominating convention by virtue of their elected office.
Then the next day, Congressman Murtha’s replacement, Mark Critz, announced that he was skipping the convention.
U.S. Rep. Mark Critz said Tuesday he will skip the Democratic National Convention in favor of campaigning in Pennsylvania, much like top elected Democrats in neighboring West Virginia who are disgruntled with President Barack Obama.
Yesterday New York Democrat Reps Kathy Hochul and Bill Owens announced that THEY would not be attending.
New York Democratic Reps. Bill Owens and Kathy Hochul said Wednesday they will not attend the convention in Charlotte, N.C., the Daily reports. The news comes on the heels of similar announcements this week from three West Virginia Democratic leaders and Rep. Mark Critz (D-Pa.).
Today’s domino….Utah Rep. Jim Matheson.
Rep. Jim Matheson (D-Utah) will skip the Democratic National Convention, making him the latest in a string of conservative Democrats to take a pass on the party confab.

It might be as predictive as anything in determining strength of the Democrat party going into the Fall election.
Roger Rabbit spews:
Whenever anyone conducts a poll, one thing you can always depend on is Americans want something for nothing.
“Most Americans oppose President Barack Obama’s healthcare reform even though they strongly support most of its provisions, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Sunday ….
“Strong majorities favor most of what is in the law. A glaring exception to the popular provisions is the ‘individual mandate,’ which forces all U.S. residents to own health insurance ….
“Support for the [other] provisions of the healthcare law was strong, with a full 82 percent … favoring banning insurance companies from denying coverage to people with pre-existing conditions. Sixty-one percent are in favor of allowing children to stay on their parents’ insurance until age 26 ….”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: There’s just one little problem. These popular provisions don’t work without the individual mandate. This reminds me of an election here in Washington a few years ago, when voters passed two initiatives to increase teacher pay and reduce class sizes, and on the same ballot defeated a sales tax increase to pay for them. The only thing Americans love more than goodies is getting them free. That’s why we always run deficits. Americans want plenty of government; they just don’t want to pay for it.
