I would also like as much funding for abortion as we can get. If we have the votes, and the polling looks good, we should have a constitutional amendment to enshrine abortion rights.

    Back in Jan 2013 when I worked for John Boehner right alongside Eric Cantor and Paul Ryan we needed every vote we could find to keep the guy in the Speaker’s chair. But it helped that Blue Dog Democrats were ready to work with us and supported the boss. A bunch of them sat out roll call to lower the quorum and worked behind the scenes to lobby for him among moderate Republicans. In the end Boehner squeezed through one last time.

    We showed Dems our gratitude by launching seven new oversight committees to weaponize the Congress and go after their presumptive nominee, conducting fifty three separate investigations of her. The success of that effort speaks for itself. We got Trump elected two years later.

    Would I be wrong to ask for their help again?
