Help! I am broken in ways that science can’t fix. I fucking love every story about municipal composting. Who makes such a person?

Anyway, today’s delightful entry in Carl has a problem is Spokane. What declares itself biodegradable and isn’t feels like a great annoyance. And probably a growing concern. I don’t know what is to be done.

Daniel Patrick Moynihan and Bob Dole were class acts.

    The New Yorker, January 25, 1993 P. 33

Talk story about the confirmation of Senator Lloyd Bentsen as Treasury Secretary by the Senate Finance Committee on Tuesday. It is believed that until last week, no committee has ever voted to confirm a Cabinet nominee before questioning him. That is what happened to Bentsen… In the opinion of one sardonic congressional staffer who was present, this is a useful innovation and will no doubt be considered by other committees as they undertake future confirmation hearings, since getting the vote out of the way right at the start makes the ensuing conversation much more relaxed. Tells how Senator Patrick Moynihan, the chairman of the finance committee, overheard Senator Robert Dole joke that they should take the vote before the hearing had begun. Mr. Moynihan then asked the clerk to call the roll. The other senators, looking a little unsure of themselves, one by one voted to confirm. To Mr. Bentsen, it must have seemed a surreal experience, like a sort of positive lynching. Confirm him now! We’ll have the hearing later!

Mister, we can use a man like Daniel Moynihan again.

I knew it was going to result in us being invoiced for merchanise we never received. But the counts get fixed during routine cycle counts (mostly). And the savings more than surpass the resulting shrink. Plus we get to report the shrink as a loss on our taxes and lie to the media about it and blame it on the poors.

@5 Bondi is full of shit. The prosecutions of Trump were absolutely cases of crimes first, investigation second, charges third, in that order. They were triggered by the following crimes: Violating Georgia election laws by pressuring the state elections officer to “find” more votes to overturn the results. Inciting a violent insurrectionist mob to attack Congress to prevent certification of a valid election. Stealing classified documents (including nuclear secrets) from the government while a private citizen. Can Bondi explain why a man who boasted of being able to get away with street murder shouldn’t attract the attention of police and prosecutors? Can you?

The notion that Trump is a victim of legal persecution is pure bullshit. He was indicted by multiple grand juries of ordinary citizens. He was convicted by a jury of ordinary citizens. Jack Smith isn’t the kind of prosecutor who goes after innocent people because of politics, and Trump isn’t an innocent person.

“Lawfare” is bullshit, just like everything else Republicans say is bullshit. If people like Trump aren’t prosecuted for their crimes, we’re not going to have a country anymore.

Moreover, her remark and your post drip with hypocrisy. Know who’s likely to “start with names and look for crimes”? Bondi. That’s why Trump chose her, after Gaetz didn’t fly.

But ironically, you won’t have to worry about all that if we become further an oligarchy, because they’ll do away with all thst. But only for you and not for themselves. The oligarchy likes porn, drugs and gambling too, they just don’t think YOU should have it. But here is the kicker. If they can get you to believe that they don’t like those things, or coerce the others like them, as far as the power goes, to get you to dislike it then the can get you to go along with the oligarchy. Then they’ll just get to have it themselves, the oligarchs that like the porn, drugs and betting.

Darrin Bell, 49, who won the 2019 Pulitzer Prize for Editorial Cartooning, was arrested Wednesday morning at his south Sacramento home by Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office investigators. Deputies had served a search warrant against Bell following an investigation by the Sacramento Valley Internet Crimes Against Children Detectives task force.

The Sheriff’s Office said it was the first arrest by the task force connected to AI-generated material, which was incorporated into existing child pornography law on Jan. 1.

After the case was tossed because the private plaintiffs were ruled to not have standing Kacsmaryk rules the state of Missouri can replace those Plaintiffs and leave all rulings this far in place. Well some of them. The ones he likes.

Because there is no way this case moves any further UNLESS it stays in Kacsmaryk‘s court the most twisted part of the ruling explains why the state of Missouri has no need to file their own case and have it heard in either Missouri (plaintiffs) or DC (defendant) and stays in Kacsmaryk‘s where he is guaranteed to rule for the Plaintiffs at every motion.

In the process Kacsmaryk asserts the pending motions to dismiss are gone because they are directed at the former plaintiffs.

Still digesting the full text but Holy Shitballs this should be cause to remove a Federal Judge in a rational judicial system.

Be careful what you wish for, little buddy. Hell, I was impeached, convicted, and removed from the bench for taking bribes and lyin’ ’bout it just as soon as I was confirmed after Jimmah nominated me. I just got myself elected to Congress and practiced corruption in the legislative branch up until I died – nearly 30 years!

Oh, Tubes…Is it at least as VERY DISTURBING as the IG Report that top secret documents were stored in public in a shitter in the Brothel the incoming President runs?

Is it AS DISTURBING as a felony conviction and adjudicated Rape?

How about as VERY DISTURBING as evidence of a Senator having sex with a minor where you warned fellow Senators about taking that report into account in confirmation hearings where you said, “At the end of the day, President Trump was elected by an enormous vote and he deserves the team around him that he wants,” regardless if that team member is a pedophile?

Proof that Trump voters are stupid:

A CNN analysis found that all 15 of the states that rely most heavily on federal support for public schools in 2022 backed Trump in November, while all but two of the 15 that receive the fewest federal dollars as a percentage of their overall revenue supported Kamala Harris.

Tom Gambrel, the superintendent of Bell County, Kentucky, schools, joined most of his neighbors and cast his vote for Trump with his students in mind, but he told CNN that he hopes the president-elect doesn’t carry through with his plan to cut federal education funding. “I don’t think that anyone in our county wants to cut our school funding,” Gambrel said, “and I don’t think that anyone voted for that.”

We’re learning this week that Greenland has vast mineral riches under its melting ice, and America is about to be a colonial power again.

Of course, taking over Greenland won’t be free. Either Trump will have to buy it (the figure $1.5 trillion has been floated), or take it by invasion (wars aren’t cheap, and $1.5 trillion seems a reasonable estimate).

Where is he going to get $1.5 trillion? Same place he’ll get $900 billion to deport 11 million law-abiding, hardworking, taxpaying immigrants essential to our economy: You’re going to hear we can’t afford health care for our own citizens anymore because of pressing national needs.

Those pressing national needs are Making America White Again, and lining the pockets of South African billionaires.

    Wait for it.

President Biden on Friday announced he would commute the sentences of nearly 2,500 people convicted of non-violent drug offenses as one of his last major moves just days before leaving office.

Biden said the individuals receiving commutations are “serving disproportionately long sentences compared to the sentences they would receive today under current law, policy, and practice” in a Friday statement.

“Today’s clemency action provides relief for individuals who received lengthy sentences based on discredited distinctions between crack and powder cocaine, as well as outdated sentencing enhancements for drug crimes,” Biden said.
