I am going on vacation for a few weeks. I have sometimes done open threads from vacation in the past, but this year is even more remote for much of the trip, so probably none from me.

And even if you don’t live in or travel to such places you can still help. And your help is needed.

    Studies prove that on average a potential eligible voter will require three direct contacts to motivate them to complete and submit their registration. We begin with texting and post cards. All responses are compiled into comprehensive data sets, analyzed, and then the best targets are followed up with by voice and in-person direct contact. There are already fully trained volunteers on the ground in these places phone banking and door knocking. Once we identify who the best targets are they hit the ground, meet with potential voters in-person, supply forms and assistance and even lick stamps. But the effective use of their efforts depends upon generating the best potential targets for them. That’s where any of us can come in.

    These drives depend upon individual volunteers to send out texts and post cards. And you can do that from anywhere. You don’t even need a smart phone to text. You can text using a desktop computer with wifi, a Google Voice account, and a texting app installed on your computer.     At their core all these MAGA voters know that they have deeply ingrained racist beliefs that are essentially unshakable. But for most of their lives the culture has also been telling them that these beliefs are immoral.

    So for most of their lives that’s required some complex coping, mostly consisting of avoidance, but also a lot of “recruitment” of “explanations” (aka excuses). And for much of their lives the culture has been there for them regularly serving up the excuses.

    “The Blacks come from broken families, but they’ve got ‘soul'”.
