Do cops actually direct traffic at busy intersections when the traffic lights are broken? If so, saw a major dereliction of duty this morning at Rainier and MLK Jr Way this morning. Some motorists were treating it as a 4 way, but only for motorists. The Pedestrian bridge only covers where the two streets meet, doesn’t cover the other half of the intersection, normal crosswalks are used, and the cops should not be MIA between 8-9AM, Franklin High School traffic.

Rep. Dean Phillips on meeting MAGA for the first time.

“I gotta tell you guys, I went to a Donald Trump rally a couple of nights ago. I’ve never been to one. I had an event across the street. I saw the line of people waiting in the cold for hours.”

“And I thought what the heck. I’m going to be a leader who actually invited people, doesn’t condemn them.”

“Met probably 50 Trump people waiting in line. Every single one of them: thoughtful, hospitable, friendly. Al of them so frustrated that they feel nobody is listening to them, except Donald Trump.”

“A diverse crowd, people that have never been to a Trump event before.”

    “My party is completely delusional!”

Remember this when Hillary Clinton or the Biden Administration says that MAGA needs to be “deprogrammed”.

The law is intended to prohibit race-based hair discrimination. But the school said the law does not address hair length and that is the reason for George’s suspension.

    Inclusion
Ideas are for everyone. They can’t be fenced off by borders, whether of geography, religion, politics or culture. And no single origin, race, gender, identity or class can claim preferential ownership over them. TED is committed to a global mindset. We seek to source ideas from everywhere and to make them widely and freely accessible. Powerful ideas, expressed and distributed with care, can bring different groups together and create a shared vision of a future worth pursuing.

    A little bit more on @ 24:

    • Both of the election workers who were caught on video stuffing ballot boxes pleaded the Fifth during questioning.

    • The mayor Democrats just voted to retain?

He was the city’s mayor from 1991 to 2003 when he was convicted of racketeering, extortion, and accepting bribes and kickbacks. He spent seven years behind bars, but the overwhelming majority of Bridgeport Democrats voted him back into his old office once he was released.

Why would Democrats do such a thing? Because so many of them are immigrants who are being taken advantage of by natural-born Democrats:

According to the 2020 five-year community survey, 48.2% of Bridgeport’s population speaks a different primary language at home other than English, 33.8% percent of the city’s total population speaks Spanish at home, and 22.5% speak English less than very well.[138] Bridgeport has the largest percentage and population of Hispanic Americans in the state of Connecticut. The city is known for having one of the largest communities of Puerto Ricans in the United States; Bridgeport has the 7th largest Puerto Rican population in the United States, with 30,250 people claiming Puerto Rican heritage in 1990, that number has grown to about 31,900 (22.10% of the population) in 2013.[139][140] 45,270 people (31%)[141] of Bridgeport’s population is foreign born in 2010. Other than Puerto Ricans, 5.4% of Bridgeport’s population was noted under Mexican in 2013,[142] a number that has grown to 5.8% (8,479 people) in the 2020 five-year American Community Survey, meaning Bridgeport has the largest Mexican population in New England.[143]Dominicans are 5,248 (3.53%) of Bridgeport’s population. The total Latino Central American population (Guatemalans, Salvadorians, Nicaraguans, Hondurans, Costa Ricans, Panamanians) is 6,701 people total in the city (4.507%). 8,454 South Americans (5.697%); 4,020 Equadorians, 2,326 Colombians, Peruvians, and then populations from every Latin American nation except Bolivia can be found, with the smallest group being Paraguayans at 16 people according to the census.[144][145] [146] Bridgeport also has the largest Cuban population in the state, with more than 1,000 of the state’s 10,600 Cubans living in Bridgeport, although down from the at least 5,000 Cubans in Bridgeport in 1980, and even more before that time in the 1950s according to the CTPost. Bridgeport was once a major destination for migrating Cubans, but many families have since moved to the city’s suburbs or Florida. Bridgeport, along with Danbury, CT were considered as a potential locations for a new Ecuadorian consulate, but it instead opened in New Haven, CT, due to its immigrant welcoming mayor, in 2008.[147]

    There was medical record keeping.

    • Storage and inventory processes that were ineffective. In our analysis
of the White House Medical Unit’s controlled substance records, we found
that medications, such as opioids and sleep medications, were not properly
accounted for, in violation of title 21 Code of Federal Regulations (CFR)
    section 1304.22 (2019).7
In addition, the White House Medical Unit used
handwritten records to track the inventory of controlled substances.
These records frequently contained errors in the medication counts,
illegible text, or crossed out text that was not appropriately annotated.

There is no mention in the report of unrecorded dispensing.

Further, there is no mention in the report of medication dispensed for President Trump.

RNC has announced that they will assign presumptive nominee status to Donald Trump and hand over control of the party data operation, fundraising, state level operations, and party primary operations to the Trump campaign.

Some people have all the luck. Remember when #CrookedHillary had to purchase that control from the DNC in 2015?

Read the full memo, obtained by NPR from a Democratic source:

“This Memorandum is intended to memorialize our agreement regarding the creation and operation of Hillary Victory Fund (Victory Fund), a joint fundraising committee of Hillary for America (HFA) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).

“HFA is prepared to raise and invest funds into the DNC via the Victory. In return for this financial support, HFA requires the appropriate influence over the financial, strategic, and operational use of these JFA-raised funds.

“Commencing on September 1, 2015 HFA agrees to raise funds for the Victory Fund sufficient to fund the DNC’s data, technology, analytics, research, and communications operations. Specifically, HFA will agree to raise and to instruct the Victory Fund Treasurer, Beth Jones (who is employed by HFA) to transfer from the Victory Fund a minimum of one million and two hundred thousand dollars ($1,200,000.00) to the DNC from its share of the net proceeds under the allocation formula on the first day of every month (beginning October 1, 2015) for these activities (the “Base Amount”). In the event that the Victory Fund is not in possession of adequate net proceeds allocable to the DNC on the first of the month to make such transfer, it shall make the required transfer as soon as adequate funds are available.

“HFA’s obligations under this agreement, and the release of the Base Amounts each month are conditioned on the following:

With respect to the hiring of a DNC Communications Director, the DNC agrees that no later than September 11, 2015 it will hire one of two candidates previously identified as acceptable to HFA.
With respect to the hiring of future DNC senior staff in the communications, technology, and research departments, in the case of vacancy, the DNC will maintain the authority to make the final decision as between candidates acceptable to HFA.
Agreement by the DNC that HFA personnel will be consulted and have joint authority over strategic decisions over the staffing, budget, expenditures, and general election related communications, data, technology, analytics, and research. The DNC will provide HFA advance opportunity to review on-line or mass email, communications that features a particular Democratic primary candidate. This does not include any communications related to primary debates – which will be exclusively controlled by the DNC. The DNC will alert HFA in advance of mailing any direct mail communications that features a particular Democratic primary candidate or his or her signature.
If asked by a State Party, the DNC will encourage the State Party to become a participant in the Victory Fund.
    Sponsor Message

“Once HFA has raised the first $1,200,000 and it has been distributed to the DNC, HFA will be granted complete and seamless access to all research work product and tools (not including any research or tracking the DNC may engage in relating to other Democratic candidates).

“The parties also agree that they will enter into an agreed upon voter file licensing agreement. As consideration for that agreement, HFA will raise an additional $250,000 into the Victory Fund that will be distributed to the DNC no later than March 31, 2016.

“In addition, HFA will also raise funds for the Victory Fund that will distributed to the DNC in excess of the $1,200,000 monthly base amount (Excess Amount). The Excess Amount raised by HFA that is distributed to the DNC will be spent on the DNC’s data, technology, analytics, research, and communications operations as directed by HFA (Special Projects). Although the DNC will remain responsible for the day to day execution of those Special Projects, HFA will determine (in consultation with the DNC) the Special Project’s scope, strategy, staffing, budget, and manner of execution.

“Finally, HFA agrees that on a monthly basis the Victory Fund will provide the DNC a list of receipts and disbursements from the Victory Fund. The DNC agrees to provide monthly financial reports to HFA as it relates to the use of the funds distributed by the Victory Fund to the DNC.

This #CrookedHillary buyout of the DNC took effect September 1, 2015. That was four months before the corrupt cunt barely beat Bernie in Iowa (by 0.25%, and neither hit a majority), and before Bernie cleaned her clock in New Hampshire by taking more than 60% of the vote.

Contrast 2016 DNC with 2024 GOP, in which Trump has become the first nonincumbent candidate in nearly 50 years to win both Iowa and NH.

Trump assuming control of the RNC operation is because Trump is overwhelming any other candidate. This is very different than 2016, when after months of receiving every benefit Donna Brazile could think to give her #CrookedHillary essentially tied in Iowa and lost badly in NH.

This is how you got Trump in the first place.

“Nitrogen hypoxia is a method of suffocating a person by forcing them to breathe pure nitrogen, starving them of oxygen until they die.”

    Railroaded through Oklahoma’s rightwing legislature:

Then representative Mike Christian of Oklahoma first proposed using nitrogen gas as a potential form of execution … after the state came under fire for multiple botched execution attempts using lethal injection.

“The idea partly came from Michael Copeland, then an assistant professor of criminal justice at East Central University in Ada, Okla., who co-authored a white paper on the subject with two of his colleagues at the university.

“’The entire proposal for nitrogen gas was the product of a 14-page report made by a criminal justice professor,’ says Corinna Barrett Lain, a law professor at the University of Richmond …. ‘He’s not a doctor. IIRC correctly, the Nazis carried out similar experiments on Jews and Soviet POWs that were considered crimes against humanity.

@97 There’s a precedent for dealing with this sort of situation.

Eisenhower, a former army general, knew what to do. He put the state national guard under federal orders, kept them in their barracks, and sent the 101st Airborne Division to Arkansas to preserve federal authority against a recalcitrant governer.

Same deal here. Federalize the Texas National Guard, stand them down, and send the U.S. Army to evict the Texas Rangers from the public park. Give the troops loaded weapons in case the Rangers decide to shoot it out. Back them up with armor and air support, and park an aircraft carrier offshore of Galveston where Abbott can see it. Deal with him as you would Syria or Libya. Let ’em know who’s in charge.

USA Today has an article here recounting the many problems encountered in carrying out the death penalty, following Alabama’s fourth-straight botched execution.

In my opinion some killers deserve to be dead, but nobody likes cruel or painful executions (well, maybe some Republicans do, but they won’t admit it). There are issues of random imposition, racial bias, and a flawed criminal justice system; dozens of exonerations of death row inmates suggest a high risk of executing innocent people, aggravated by the fact courts often turn a deaf ear to innocence claims and tolerate egregiously flawed police investigations and trials.

The easy thing to do is get rid of executions altogether. But that’s politically difficult in states with third-world legislatures, and this Supreme Court majority doesn’t seem inclined to take the constitutional ban against “cruel and unusual” punishment seriously; after all, they just allowed Alabama to use a quack execution method.

So I don’t know where this goes from here. The next botched execution? Likely.

Yes, UN employees participated directly in the Hamas slaughter of Israelis.

    26 January 2024
    From Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General

    AMMAN,

“The Israeli Authorities have provided UNRWA with information about the alleged involvement of several UNRWA employees in the horrific attacks on Israel on 7 October.

“To protect the Agency’s ability to deliver humanitarian assistance, I have taken the decision to immediately terminate the contracts of these staff members and launch an investigation in order to establish the truth without delay. Any UNRWA employee who was involved in acts of terror will be held accountable, including through criminal prosecution.

    No, it’s not from Fox.

    -REPUBLICAN BORDER CRISIS ALERT–

With this morning’s sudden reversal by Mitch the Glitch, informing the Republican Senate minority in a meeting of his plans to use Senate rules to block border security funding in order to prolong and deepen the border crisis in Texas, it now officially becomes a REPUBLICAN border crisis.

From this point forward Republicans own the mess that they created and that they are not allowing anyone else to clean up.
