Wednesday!

by Carl Ballard — Wednesday, 4/5/23, 8:10 am

We’re stocking up on mifepristone in Washington. It’s important to have local leadership who are prepared in case of a bad outcome in the Texas case. Honestly, it’s awful that it might come to this. People who need abortions should be able to get them.

Anyway, please wash your hands right now. And get vaccinated or boosted if you’re eligible.

A few interesting tidbits about the E Car market.

While EVs made up 3.1% of U.S. New car sales in 2021 they were 5.6% in 2022. Further growth in market share is expected in 2023.

And on the topic of market share. While Tesla is still the clear leader share of it’s mid-price Model 3 fell from 30.7% in 2021 to 19.4% in 2022. The $90K model S increased market share a bit in the same period.

Looking at that it would appear that while “Average Joe” drivers are beginning to take EVs seriously, they are gravitating toward many of the other models now available instead of Tesla.

Say, you know what’s a great idea for bringing in eco-conscious American consumers who tend to be more left leaning?

Not content to have had their asses handed to them in the Abortion ballot measure Kansas Republicans passed, with a veto proof majority a measure requiring life saving measures for the fetus ‘born alive’ during an abortion procedure.

Despite the fact that this is a thing that does not happen the bill’s language has been interpreted by medical professionals that it would require them to provide ressustation rather than end of life care for a non-viable fetus in cases where the mother is either in life threatening situations or simply a couple who decides that watching a baby live and suffer for a few minutes post partum is not something they wish to experience.

No one treats a woman more viciously than another woman, but homosexual men come in a close second.

    Variety:

Don Lemon’s Misogyny at CNN, Exposed: Malicious Texts, Mocking Female Co-Workers and ‘Diva-Like Behavior’

While Phillips was on assignment in Iraq — a high-profile gig that Lemon coveted — he vented his disappointment at being passed over by tearing up pictures and notes on top of and inside Phillips’ desk in the news pod they shared, according to two sources who worked there at the time. When she returned from Iraq, things only got weirder. One night while dining with members of the news team, she received the first of two threatening text messages from an unknown number on her flip phone that warned, “Now you’ve crossed the line, and you’re going to pay for it.” Phillips was visibly rattled and quickly enlisted CNN’s higher ups to identify the sender.

Remarkably, the texts were traced back to Lemon, according to those same sources. A human resources investigation was launched, and while the findings were never disclosed to the growing pool of staffers who were aware of the situation, Lemon was abruptly pulled from his co-anchor duties with Phillips and moved to the weekends. It was a demotion by any objective measure and understood to be some kind of disciplinary action. It appears to be the last time he was paired with a female anchor until his most recent assignment on “CNN This Morning With Don Lemon, Poppy Harlow and Kaitlan Collins.”

The long knives are out at CNN for this POS homosexual.

To insecure, effeminate homosexuals like Don Lemon, women are competition for erect penises. Hence the antipathy and the misogyny that homosexual men all too often demonstrate toward strong women.

I’ve been across our state since Friday, surveying damage, meeting with survivors, and discussing recovery efforts with local leaders, emergency personnel, and volunteers. It’s clear that the cost to clean up the damage those storms created will be substantial. The federal government is currently covering 75 percent of all costs incurred during our recovery process, but that arrangement must go further to help Arkansans in need. Today, I’m asking the federal government to cover 100 percent of all our recovery expenses during the first 30 days after the storm.

I’m not one to support or defend the idea of “citizen” legislatures.
Government is one of the most technically complex of human endeavors. So there’s nothing wrong with professional experience as a lawmaker – the more, the better.

But I swear, even a true “citizen legislature” would be better than what North Carolina offers. In recent years in NC a “short session” has been nine months long. Yet the base pay is less than $15,000 for a “part time” lawmaker. It’s basically a trash fire. And it shows.

So with that in mind I find it truly marvelous and fantastic that having suffered through so many years of continuous failure and defeat our resident Shit-lord crybaby has found an imaginary bright spot buried somewhere within the political trash fire of the North Carolina assembly. Good for him.

But the rest of us should be asking ourselves if any of that shit even matters. As I said earlier, a well disciplined political party org finds ways to discipline wayward lawmakers without having to openly go to war with them on divisive issues. And the expectation is that lawmakers reciprocal duty to the party that supports them is to do likewise. North Carolina politics is a fucking sewer. It’s not the place I would go to try to gauge either party’s health. North Carolina is a place where criminal election fraud cases are fairly common still. Superficially, if all you looked at were corporate and institutional names in Raleigh-Durham-Carey, it would be easy to come away with an impression of North Carolina as a modern, developed, post-industrial tech hub leading the southeast into the 21st century. But its politics and its political institutions are still stuck in 1876. And many of those who serve as essentially full-time state lawmakers without pay are bound to be amateurish, intemperate, and inexperienced – from both parties. It’s not the least bit surprising or even the tiniest bit disappointing to me to see that inexperienced amateurs working for no pay under tremendous pressure and scrutiny should act badly from time to time.

But in the end, if lung cancer hadn’t killed McCrae Dowless the Kung Fu Flu would have.

  35. 35

    Roger Rabbit spews:

    Wednesday, 4/5/23 at 12:33 pm

@34 You could argue that Dowless brought a sort of order to the chaos. By falsifying ballots and stealing an election, he contributed to continuity. While he is not missed, the vacuum his death leaves behind opens the door to less-professional election-stealers.

Paying legislators next to nothing is deliberate. There are those who argue that members of Congress should be paid nothing at all. The whole idea behind the push to turn politics into strictly volunteer work is to ensure it is a hobby that only those with independent means can pursue. In other words, making politics a hobby of the rich.

As for “citizen” legislators, keep in mind the rich are citizens, too. And like all citizens, they pursue their self-interest, even in public service. Especially in public service.

Wisconsin Republicans won a state senate seat yesterday. That gives them a supermajority. Today, they’re talking about using it to impeach the judge who was elected yesterday.

It doesn’t matter what voters think of this, because Wisconsin so gerrymandered that Republicans can “win” two-thirds of the Assembly seats with 44% of the votes, as they did in 2018.

Nevertheless, I think these undemocratic power plays are going to catch up with them.

QoS McHillbilly’s panties twisted because someone (may have) followed a juror.

He seemed less upset when MSNBC did it, back when Kyle Rittenhouse was being tried for murder.

Judge Bruce Schroeder announced that Kenosha police informed the court that they stopped a man following the bus, because he was “following at a distance of about a block and went through a red light.” The jury for the Rittenhouse trial is transported to and from the courthouse in a bus with covered windows, in order to prevent them from seeing protest signs outside the court, Schroeder explained.

The man stopped by police identified himself as James J. Morrison, and told officers that he was a news producer employed by MSNBC, according to Schroeder. Morrison then stated that he had been instructed by an MSNBC producer in New York to follow the bus.

“The matter is under further investigation at this point,” Schroeder said.

Put a pin in this one.

It’s another testament to KKKonservative derp stupidity.

The entire fucking planet has been struggling for decades to bring “efficiency” and “technology” to warehousing and distribution and getting barely anywhere. Supply logistics are one of the few, unique major sectors that are so globally interdependent that the adoption of labor saving technology is restricted by the global average cost of labor.

Ever think about pallets? No? Of course not. Why the fuck would you.

Interesting fact: a standard shipping pallet is 6-2/3 cu-ft of volume. So what, right? Multiply that by 2 billion. That’s how much global shipping volume was occupied last year by shitty, wooden pallets invented a century ago. Over thirteen billion cu ft of capacity. That works out to about thirteen million shipping containers. That’s equal to the total handling of the Port of Seattle over thirteen years. For pallets.

The Murdoch tabloid that the Shit-lord cites includes photos. One is of a retail store – which has absolutely nothing to do with this. Look at the other one. See that stack of boxes? What’s that blue thing under them?

Walmart lays off 2,000 warehouse workers after noticing ten years ago that Amazon kicks their asses in freight handling efficiency. It took ten years of investment for Walmart to get to where they can safely lay off 2,000 electric pallet jack operators. The entire big box industry has been struggling with this for decades. And the dumbest, most delusional fuck stick you know thinks it must have something to do with pampered, overpaid teens who “don’t know how to work”.

US manufacturing near three-year low; casts a shadow over economy

WASHINGTON, April 3 (Reuters) – U.S. manufacturing activity slumped in March to the lowest level in nearly three years as new orders plunged, and analysts said activity could decline further due to tighter credit conditions.

The Institute for Supply Management (ISM) survey on Monday showed all subcomponents of its manufacturing PMI below the 50 threshold for the first time since 2009.

That means all aspects of US manufacturing contracted last month. Exclusive of the pandemic, it hasn’t been this bad since the Great Recession. Companies are about to begin destroying product so they don’t have to pay for the warehousing space to store it. Right now they’re selling it on the secondary market, but the next step is to destroy product.

Sooner or later Bidenflation touches all.

“By this point, Mortara had spent most of his time comparing white and Asian American applicants. But then suddenly, it seemed, his speech shifted. Asian Americans, he argued, do “dramatically and shockingly” worse than both African Americans and Latinos in the personal ratings.

Then the speech shifted back to a traditional argument that SFFA has been making for months: The university’s admissions system discriminates against Asian Americans because of the gigantic incentives that are given to mostly white groups, such as recruited athletes, of whom roughly 80 percent of applicants are admitted, and so-called legacies, students whose close relatives attended Harvard. ”

Yes, Queen YLB, that was the case. But do you know why, and do you know that Harvard changed the personal ratings criteria for the class entering in Fall 2023 from what it was for the class entering Fall 2022?

    Adam Mortara
    @AdamMortara
During the trial, we caught Harvard red-handed. Just a few weeks before it started, they had modified their Reading Procedures to address anti-Asian bias in their system. They resisted discovery into it and lied saying it changed nothing. “Trust me, Judge, it’s actually good for us,” they lied. See for yourself what it changed.
    8:36 AM · Mar 31, 2023

And that Harvard tried to hide this change, because it’s pretty much a red flag of guilt? And that Harvard objected to the changes it made being admitted as evidence

Subsequent remedial measures like these are red hot proof of liability — and Harvard got caught red handed. Their lead trial counsel tried to object under FRE407 at closing. Waived already because “Trust me Judge, it’s good for us.”

The personal hospitality gift reporting exemption applies only to food, lodging, or entertainment and is intended to cover such gifts of a personal, nonbusiness nature. Therefore, the reporting exemption does not include:

    gifts other than food, lodging or entertainment, such as transportation that substitutes for commercial transportation;

(flights on a private plane must be reported, whether transit between ports on a private mega-yacht that is ALSO acting as lodging is exempt is a gray area, but judges generally take the MOST conservative interpretation and declare as needed)

gifts paid for by any individual or entity other than the individual providing the hospitality, or for which the individual providing the hospitality receives reimbursement or a tax deduction related to furnishing the hospitality; or

(Did someone other than the owner of the, ahem, resort buy a bottle of wine that Clarence partook of? Who supplied the fine cigars they have in the now published painting? Were they Cuban? That’s a violation. Judges generally steer clear of any POSSIBLE ethics violation by over-declaring or by not acting in a way that can be perceived as a violation)

The 11-point loss of the Republican-aligned candidate in Wisconsin’s Supreme Court election on Tuesday has influential conservatives rethinking this strategy. “Republicans had better get their abortion position straight, and more in line with where voters are, or they will face another disappointment in 2024,” said a Wall Street Journal editorial.
