The one thing the Republicans have been able to do successfully over the years is manipulate the media machine. They post a lie, everyone responds, and in the few days it takes to figure out exactly how they are lying and prove it, they have already disseminated several more lies.
It makes life easier when people realize that when a Republican opens his mouth, he’s either intentionally lying, or repeating a lie made up by another Republican. Chasing after the lies and trying to deal with them one-by-one is a waste of time. Fortunately, most people are beginning to understand this – it only took a couple of days to uncover the most recent lie, although all who over-reacted to it should learn their lesson.
The Republicans are in hysterics about how easily they were able to dupe the media, and even get an over-reaction from the Obama administration. It’s like a buch of freshmen frat-boys giggling about their success at throwing water baloons on girls from their dorm windows.
I say that “manipulating the media machine” is the only thing they are good at because they proved during the last Bush administration that they are totally incapable of governing without destroying the country’s security and economy in a mere four years. It takes an incredible degree of incompetence and callous disregard to take a budget surplus and turn it into a deficit exceeding a trillion dollars in that short a span, all the while causing the net worth of the country to drop by more than 20% and ravage the middle class with job losses and, in the process, pretty much nibble away the guts of the 1st, 4th, and 5th amendments to the Bill of Rights.
Heck, we Democrats couldn’t accomplish that much damage if we tried. We are just too disorganized, and unwilling to accept the level of malice and disregard for the fate of our fellow Americans that the Republicans exhibit.
