Comedian and Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead is in town this weekend for two performances tomorrow night at Theatre Off Jackson, and on Saturday for a political satire writing workshop (click the links for details and tickets). She was very, very funny at Netroots Nation. Highly recommended.
AND… Lizz is joining us tonight for a special edition of Drinking Liberally, 8PM onward at the Montlake Ale House. Come join us for a hoppy pint and some especially hopped up conversation.

Who wants to hang out with some hairy-legged, sandal wearing, Sandinista, lesbian, abortionist, who hates America, lives in her mom’s basement, and couldn’t run a business if she tried?
I bet she was even a Girl Scout when she was a kid- shudder,

Hans @1,
Thanks for the comment.
Steve spews:
I do love me some Samoa cookies, but I’ll likely never view those hairy-legged, abortion-loving, America-hating, little lesbian girl scouts the same again. Thanks, Hans.

Steve,
The best thing about Samoa Girl Scout cookies is that they are made from genuine Samoan Girl Scouts!

1 in 7 people in America officially counted as living in poverty.

Conservatives, do we, as a society have any responsibility to do anything about Americans living in poverty?
Is this a good summation of the the conservative position on poverty?
If you want to help the poor, we should cut taxes for those with money and get rid of regulation that stifle business.
Lower wages and benefits for all public employees to offset the lower tax income.
The constitution doesn’t allow for social programs, those in poverty should turn to local religious and secular charities for help.
If you are in poverty, the government has no responsibility to help you improve yourself or to support you and your children.
It’s up to you and your individual initiative and skills to find a better job or even any job. By your action or inaction you descended into poverty, get yourself out.
