Well, no, the Seattle Times hasn’t officially endorsed Fred Jarrett for King County Executive yet, but this morning’s editorial lauding him pretty much telegraphs that they will.
No surprise there, and no real complaint from me. I like Jarrett, and think he would make a fine executive. I don’t know that I’m voting for him in August, but I won’t be upset if he ultimately wins.
The only question remaining is whether the Times endorses one or two candidates in the August primary, and if the latter, whether they’re crazy enough to endorse Susan Hutchison?

Leave it to the Times to be thinking about endorsing the candidate who’ll finish in last place (of the five “real” candidates).
Then again, he’s the Senator for most of the editorial board.
sarge spews:
Don’t underestimate Jarrett. He’ll get most of the sane Republican vote (assuming such a thing exists).
Goldy spews:
sarge @2,
Don’t overestimate the sane Republican vote.
Piper Scott spews:
Former Rep. Toby Nixon has also endorsed Fred.

Yeah, Jarrett is a nice guy. In a passive-aggressive kind of way. Why do you think the Dinosaurs at the Times Ed Board likes him so much.
Sen. Jarrett does an excellent job pretending he knows what he’s talking about. But, when it comes to **actually** knowing what he’s talking about, he often misses the mark.
Deb Eddy spews:
Mmmm, Marku, you want to give an example?
NWDIGEST spews:
It would seem the establishment candidates all want to distract from the real issues in King County. And here at HA, you’re willing to help them achieve that end. While attention is given to attempts to divine each candidate’s partisan convictions (in a non-partisan race), the County continues to be mismanaged. Nobody, new media or old, seems willing to dig into the real problems of King Co. government. Instead, they’re content bickering over who’s liberal, or not liberal enough to fit the bill.
yellowdog D spews:
Jarrett would make an excellent Exec. I too think he’ll do much better than the polls are showing right now. Undecided is doing very well currently and as people read the Voters’ Pamphlet and look hard at who could actually do the job there is a real chance Jarrett could still pull this out. He’s got my vote already.
