“I think – I’ll have my staff get to you,” McCain told Politico in Las Cruces, N.M. “It’s condominiums where – I’ll have them get to you.”
The correct answer is at least four, located in Arizona, California and Virginia, according to his staff. Newsweek estimated this summer that the couple owns at least seven properties.

Only have 3 rentals left….because the tenants are long-term and good people. I haven’t raised the rent on any of them in 5 years.
Rentals really don’t pencil out unless we have 5% annual appreciation…minimum…because of the high property values. I make approx. 1.1% on value of those 3 properties. I would be better off selling them and putting the proceeds in a money-market. But the folks I rent to take good care of the houses and are can-do people if any repairs are necessary….sooooooooo.

Sure, it’s hard to imagine that in a difficult financial environment, where falling home prices and rising interest rates are threatening many homeowners (of their only home) with forecloure, that a candidate who owns four homes can “feel their pain”. But it IS possible, in a hypothetical sense.
But not for John McCain. He not only doesn’t know how many homes he owns, he seems to have been hit with a “senior moment” when the question was asked.
Seriously, has John McCain ever really owned a home in his own right? My guess is that he and his first wife might have bought a home before he became a POW, but they might not have done so because frequent duty-station changes make owning a home while in the military is difficult venture – even if you can get financing.
So is it possible that John McCain has lived entirely in government housing the first part of his life, and then in houses financed by his wife for the remainder of his wife?
Such a person might not have ever gone through the difficult process of trying to find a home in a good neighborhood near good schools at a price he can afford, much less having to go through the difficult process of applying and qualifying for a mortgage.
For McCain, it would be easy for him to dismiss borrowers caught up on the current mortgage mess as having been “architects of their own disaster, taking inordinate risks to buy a home above their ability to pay for it”. He would be more likely to agree with the financial denizens who, at country-club dinners, complain that “Hey, we just processed the applications, bundled the mortgages into financial investments which were sold to worker’s 401(k) plans, it’s not our fault if the borrowers signed them and the 401(k) plans were stupid enough to buy them!”
Given the state of the Phoenix housing market right now, I wonder how popular McCain would be if he REALLY did some STRAIGHT TALKING about his REAL views on the current housing crisis.

Not knowing how many houses one owns is amusing and worthy of some good-natured ribbing. But there’s nothing at all amusing about allowing a known, corrupt and convicted Chicago political machine influence-peddler plunk down $600K to help you buy your own house. That’s just plain wrong. And Obama in the end loses, if he wants to go down this road. His dealings with Rezko are just too crooked-looking and he’ll not want the american people to think he can be bought, even while it looks as though he already has been.

It’s called “buying influence.” And Obama let himself be bought by a disreputable figure in the Chicago political machine. Most people are able to recognize the extremely poor judgment on Obama’s part.
Asslick at @87 list with specificity every law that President Obama has been charged with violating in referernce to the Rezko deal. List every Senate rule he was charged with violating. And list every conviction stemming from those alleged violations by President Obama.
