Today’s Rasmussen: Monday, August 18, 2008
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows Barack Obama attracting 44% of the vote while John McCain earns 43%. When “leaners” are included, it’s Obama 47% and McCain 46%.
After O-blah-blah lost that Forum @ Saddleback Church the other night with his mealy mouth answer about When Life Begins and who his heroes are………….
watch for McCain to inch ahead later this week.

@2: As the article from the Denver Post says: “Whiskey is for drinking, water is for fighting!”. I guess McCain, being a Senator from Arizona, hasn’t fully made the transition to national politics. He’s used to saying things like that back home where everybody nods and claps in agreement, but nothing ever happens because there is NO WAY such an agreement is ever going to be re-opened. But now that he is a “national” politician, he’s discovering that such off-the-cuff “safe” comments aren’t so safe anymore.
I guess if McCain wants to get into water issues, he can also secure the Georgia vote by promising to support it’s attempts to annex the south-eastern tip of Tennessee. Not a lot of it, just enough to give it access to the Tennessee River, which Georgia hopes to find a way to re-direct enough southward to feed Altanta’s sprawling water needs. (Georgia has already served notice that they want a Federal Commission to “re-adjust” the border which they claim was the result of a surveyor’s error in the late 1700’s).
Of course, Tennessee, Kentucky, Ohio, and even Alabama & Mississipi (through which the Tennessee-Tombigbe Waterway flows) don’t particularly like the idea of Georgia putting in an unrestricted “tap” at the head of that waterway. Besides, if successful, Georgia would probably try to get the federal government to pay for the cost of digging a horrendous canal a couple hundred miles long for the purpose of watering the lawns of suburban Atlanta.
Besides, Georgia wants to take in the town where I grew up. That’s where I draw the line. I’ve always been able to say: “Sure, I grew up in Tennesse, but at least I’m not from Georgia!”.

4 Georgia has been in the grip of a serious drought for quite some time, and it’s more or less a secret to the rest of the country.
I’ll bet indeed that the folks in Alabama wouldn’t take too kindly to having enough water sucked out of the Tennessee River to turn Lake Guntersville into Guntersville Mud Wallow. Might make electricity a bit of a problem too, if there isn’t enough water to go through the turbines at the TVA dams or cool the nukes in the area. But ah, what the hell…that’s all commie Roosevelt’s fault anyway, isn’t it?
9
rhp6033spews:
Art @ 8: Just goes to show what a complicated subject water policy is, and how it makes for poor political posturing. Any national politician in their right mind should promise simply to have an independent commission study the issue and leave it at that. Then everybody involved should down-play the politics so that a rational policy (which usually leaves everybody a little unhappy) can be implemented.
But then you have the grand-standing local politicians who hope to make some points by advocating something which requires somebody ELSE to solve their own problems, and it can all get undone in a hurry.

It appears that McCain can’t get his facts straight on the divorce. I can see why, of course. It puts him in such a horrible light. What woman in her right mind would vote for such a cad? It’s best that he keeps lying about the matter and that commie-fascist trolls keep spreading the lie.
READ the fucking autobiography; Read CAROL’s account.
They were legally separted when he met Cindy. Even Carol admits that their marriage could not withstand “the test of time and distance”. You know, that inconvenience of being held PRISONER.
You sheep need to get your heads out of your collective asses. Find a few facts for yourself rather than accepting a spoon-fed agenda, you hapless fools.

@15 So if it was just a matter of ‘time and distance’ and not the ‘stray cock express’ then why does McCain himself say that his greatest moral failing was the disintegration of his first marriage?

Huffington is not a source, you idiot.
Hmm, I think the idiot is calling the idiot black here. You see, here’s the thing about blogs: they sometimes comment on news stories, then link to the story itself. Had you done more than just read the URL in order to complain about it, you’d have seen the link to the actual story in the Los Angeles Times.
READ the fucking autobiography; Read CAROL’s account.
Quote from that story:
“In his 2002 memoir, “Worth the Fighting For,” McCain wrote that he had separated from Carol before he began dating Hensley…An examination of court documents tells a different story. McCain did not sue his wife for divorce until Feb. 19, 1980, and he wrote in his court petition that he and his wife had “cohabited” until Jan. 7 of that year — or for the first nine months of his relationship with Hensley.
Although McCain suggested in his autobiography that months passed between his divorce and remarriage, the divorce was granted April 2, 1980, and he wed Hensley in a private ceremony five weeks later. McCain obtained an Arizona marriage license on March 6, 1980, while still legally married to his first wife.”
In your haste to rant, you made yourself look much more foolish than I am sure you usually do.

Stevespews:
@20 You have infinitely more patience with trolls than I do. Thanks for fleshing that one out.
By the way – Rasmussen is a republican poll. Most legit polls have President Obama up 3-6 points.
As to the anonymous ass-licking, ass-eating cunt posting at 13 – first – fuck off and die. Second, you’re a lying cunt.
Johnboy left his disfigured wife for SIN dee – you may not want that truth told but it’s the truth. And guess what. . . that’s not the only affair this 1023 year old flip flopping son of a bitch has had. But that doesn’t bother motherfuckers like you because your ilk thinks family values only apply to Democrats.
Suck one bitch.

why does McCain himself say that his greatest moral failing was the disintegration of his first marriage?
Because it’s TRUE. Because he’s honorable. Because he came home from prison camp with wild oats. BUT that does not change the fact that Cindy had absolutely nothing to do with the end of his marriage OR the fact that carols admits their marriage wasn;t strong wnough to survive “time and distance”.
