Anybody who has ever met the TNT’s Joe Turner knows he’s a cynical, cranky, old curmudgeon of a reporter… you know, in a lovable sorta way. So what was his take on that controversial WSLC email, once he finally got to read it?
It doesn’t seem that over the top, at least not so bad as the reaction implied.
Huh. Looks like I’m not the only Olympia observer who thinks the Dems overreacted, and I don’t know anybody who suggests that the WSLC actually faces prosecution. In fact, I’m so confident that nothing remotely illegal took place, that if charges are filed, I promise to dress up in a dog costume, paint a target on my back, and take a dump on Frank Blethen’s front lawn.
Roger Rabbit spews:
How is this e-mail 1/10,000th as bad as BIAW’s sex predator smear ads, paid for with taxpayer money?
N in Seattle spews:
Did I really hear some hyperventilation about charging the WSLC with bribery? How is threatening not to pay money to someone an attempt to bribe?
To say nothing of the fact that whatever money did change hands would be duly reported to, recorded by, and publicly disclosed by the PDC.

I mean, all organized labor is saying, is we want to be paid to work, not forced to listen to the boss’s religious, political, and cheap labor propaganda. What do Republicans have against working?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Actually, Republicans have a lot against working, because they treat workers like dogs and tax the shit out of wages. It’s obvious that Republicans hate workers, so it logically follows that they hate work, too. After all, they don’t do any work — what further proof does anyone need? Well, I don’t work, either. I live like a Republican now. I get paid for not working, and get a 2/3rds discount on my taxes for flipping assets.

@2 Welcome to Wonderland. Signed, Alice.

If you don’t, Frank promises to not shoot you.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@6 It’s not illegal for a dog to shit on someone’s lawn, but it is illegal for the homeowner to shoot the dog. ha ha ha We animals have a lobby in Olympia, too! ha ha ha

A London borough is testing “voice risk analysis” (VRA) software designed to catch employees who call in sick when they’re not by detecting “micro-tremors” in the human voice.
Controlled lab tests showed the software is 78% in catching liars. So, I suppose they’ll fire them all and figure the 22% of innocent workers mistakenly caught up in the dragnet are necessary collateral damage.
Why the fuck should anyone work for an employer who stoops to this kind of horseshit? They’re making it impossible to work! The expectations are just too much. Now you’re supposed to worry about whether a mechanical gadget will misinterpret your voice if you stayed home from work because you’re actually sick.
Well, I don’t have to put up with such indignities, because I don’t work! Furthermore, I’m not going to put my savings into any bank that makes mortgage or car loans to workers, because when continued employment becomes this tenuous and arbitrary, no loan is safe anymore! I’m going to hoard food and buy gold coins instead.

Just send an “I’m sick today” email then…

Goldy taking a dump on Blethen’s yard has the potential to be the greatest Drinking Liberally podcast……EVER!
But only if Joel Connelly is there to tell an anecdote about how Eisenhower called it “taking a bow-ell movement.”
proud leftist spews:
Much ado about nothing. Why in the hell in a state where Democrats are not only in charge, but are a huge majority among the populace, does something like this happen? I could speculate and say that it is because we don’t really have an opposition party in this state, so Democrats conduct internecine battles. I could be that cynical, but I prefer not to be. Labor is our friend. This should not have happened. And, whatever Mr. Cynical might claim, the email was not only not evidence of a crime, but not even bad taste.

Looks like you were right Goldy.
The Washington State Patrol says no crime was committed when a state labor group recently sent several lawmakers an e-mail linking campaign donations to contentious worker-rights legislation.

Guess Frank Blethen’s lawn is safe.
