Obama’s numbers are slipping in comparison to the popularity of other new presidents, according to a column in Friday’s Wall Street Journal by Scott Rasmussen and Democratic pollster Doug Schoen.
Schoen is a big-time Democratic pollster…who happens to be accurate most of the time…much to your collective chagrins.
Why would Schoen do something with Rasmussen if he thought Rasmussen wasn’t reliable??

The Boston Tea Party was not so much a tax revolt as a protest against corporate welfare. The East India Tea Company was given an exemption from the tea tax that other companies did not get. Thanks for promoting our event! You’d be surprised how many liberals are PO’d about the prospect of a state income tax or raises in existing taxes especially in light of the failure of the legislature to address profligate spending that still exceeds projected state revenue, which is slated to be some 2.1 percent higher than last year.
Even with more dough coming in the door, the Legislature still can’t balance the books. Too much time paying off the knuckle draggers and breakers) at the Washington State Labor Council, I suppose.

Yes, indeed, the hour has arrived—it is time to announce the winner of the second HA Troll of the Week Award (aka the Golden Goat). Once again, we had stirring, spirited, spitfire competition. The vigor with which our trolls went head to head to grab for the Goat was truly inspiring. Most impressively, they kept at it until the very end, reminding me of two old heavyweights slogging it out in the late rounds, their legs ready to give out, their eyes swelling shut, the weight of their gloves almost too much to lift, but their will to win, dammit, undiminished. Yes, trolls, you’ve got gumption, and all of us thank you for providing us an opportunity to observe and enjoy your efforts.
Now, given that we’ve only done this once before, it might be helpful to again set out the criteria which a number of HAers offered last week as instructive to picking a winner. Examples of such criteria include: illogic; failure to think beyond the simplistic (classic troll examples: the stock market is down, so Obama is bad; or, it is cold, so global warming is a hoax); racism; failure to understand criticism or recognize either humor or sarcasm; obliviousness to how stupid one appears; failure to even examine one’s own sources and misinterpretation of such sources; blind partisanship; the inability to lace two sentences together and treating rules of grammar and punctuation like hostile forces; incoherence; refusal to condemn anyone on the same side no matter how ridiculous or offensive the position; failure to recognize that the GOP got its ass kicked in November; volume of nonsense spewed; and, simply, never adding anything of value to the discourse. Again, however, remember that while such criteria are helpful and lend some objectivity to the selection process, ultimately the determining factor is more intuitive—to paraphrase Justice Potter Stewart’s definition of pornography, we know true trollness when we see it.
So, how do we whittle down such strong performances this week to come up with just one fellow who gets to climb atop the medal stand? A number of you offered your selections and I could disagree with none of them. We have so many deserving trolls, and the thought of hurting any of their feelings is abhorrent. They all deserve our love and care. Still, this is a contest, and unlike in kindergarten, we can’t give each troll a medal. We have to pick a winner.
Before announcing the victor, I must give special mention to a few of our contestants who clawed and clamored for the Goat like frat boys fighting for the last beer at a party. How can we not acknowledge The Truth’s sterling efforts this week? And, manoftruth’s last minute Hail Mary to try to retain his title? And, of course, Puddy—always there, always ready to back up his argument with an unsupportive link. Guys, I’m sorry, but it just wasn’t quite your week.
Enough, I suppose, by way of build-up. It is my great privilege to announce the winner of this week’s Troll of the Week Award . . . And, the Goat goes to—
Mr. Cynical. Yeah, you did it, man. Stand up and take a bow. Now, I’m sure some of you might contend that this week’s effort wasn’t Cynical’s best, that he could have ramped it up a bit. There is plenty to say for that contention. Still, there is also something to say for longevity. Cynical has been with us a long time, persistently and consistently filling threads with his own special blend of smugness and smarm. We simply have to admire and honor him for his steadfast adherence to his beliefs no matter how forcefully reality might be slapping his ass and for his unmitigated arrogance despite standing naked and limpdicked in front of the facts. He tenderly clings to his ideological nonsense like a fat man cuddles a frosted doughnut. Plus, how can we not thank him for his endless proselytizing? I could go on and on (I mean, hey dude, what’s with living in Montana and posting endlessly here?), but I think I’ll just end this by extending a simple congratulations. Cynical, you did it.
