Show your support for following the rule of law! Rally at the Capitol, Tuesday, Jan 11th, 10:30 AM, State Capitol, Olympia WA, Story Pole on North Side of Capitol Campus.
Or, show your support for Christine Gregoire, by telling the Legislature to stand up to the BIAW media campaign, certify the election, and get on with the business of government! Call the Legislative Hotline, 1-800-562-6000, or email your legislators!
Josef of Josef-a-k.blogspot.com spews:
Don’t worry – I already called FOR the Governor-elect, not the Governor-designee.
And I despise the BIAW. Even so, my blog covers why I hate Gregovych and why we need a revote.
jim spews:
Josef, she’s only governor elect due to the law that Rossi himself voted for! Geez….we have a process, under law, and follow it and you don’t like the result so you name call the winner?
Rossi argued against changing the rules…and here he wants to change the law, after the fact, even though he himself voted for the law!
Either you follow the law our you don’t. Those who don’t argue for a revote because they don’t like the outcome.
Good thing he won’t be our governor. It’s obvious that he feels the law is to be avoided if it’s not in his favor. Doesn’t bode well for a leader of a democracy.
Rick spews:
What a great visual at the rally tomorrow – all the libs proudly defending the most corrupt election in our state’s history.
Goldy spews:
And let me just add, that the reason we have a law that accepts a degree of uncertainty, and yet still certifies a winner regardless, is so that we can avoid the kind of vicious, partisan campaign that is now being waged.
Nelson spews:
Goldy, you’re doing a great service here and keeping things on an even keel, in the face of the garbage that’s being put forth by the SLRs (that stands for “sore-losing Republicans), by the way.
And speaking of that, if the shoe was on the other foot, blogs and talk radio and letters to the editor would be yelling and screaming at millions of decibels about the “Democrats being sore-losers.”
Where are all the Democrats, who should be yelling and screaming about those sore-losing jerks? Why don’t Democrats have the guts to get into the gutter the way the Republicans ALWAYS do?
I know Democrats prefer issue and policy discussions (probably because we take the time to actually try to understand them instead of just shooting from the hip like conservatives) but sometimes we should be fighting fire with fire.
They’re just total and complete sore losers and whiners.

Erik spews:
I think the re-vote folks would add a few proposals to state law:
RCW 29A.XX.XX
After the canvassing boards and Secretary of State certifies the election, the election results shall be overturned and another election held if over 500 people from the non-prevailing party object and personally appear on the capital steps.
jim spews:
Erik,
What happens if only 20 show up?
Erik spews:
What happens if only 20 show up?
Excellent question. However, because they will be wearing coast guard orange vests, they will be plainly visible.
The Gregoire supporters will be wearing red, white and blue. Maybe even with a few state green flags. From what I understand, these are the colors of the country of the state and country. Plus, orange is a little close to red.
Erik spews:
Re-Voters Lose Vote in Senate
Lawmakers also prepared for an earthquake of a different kind – the continuing furor over Democrat Gregoire’s ultra-close election.
After convening, the state Senate narrowly defeated an attempt to delay certification of the governor’s election by two weeks.
Gregoire is scheduled to be inaugurated as governor on Wednesday and Republicans in the Legislature wanted to delay the election certification by two weeks, saying there are too many questions about mistakes with provisional and absentee ballots.
But Democrats hold a majority in both chambers and have said the election contest is going through proper channels: The courts.
Senate Democrats voted down the amendment to delay certification, 25-to-24. One Democrat, Tim Sheldon of Potlatch, voted with the Republicans.
The state House and Senate will meet jointly Tuesday to certify the election.
Mr. Cynical spews:
The Senate vote is ‘as expected”.
Goldy–remember what I told you long ago however…whenever you have gross incompetence, that alone is offensive. Public officials & employees who make errors ought to admit them quickly and clearly. Because Goldy my friend, history has proved over & over again that while incompetence is offensive….the cover-up is worse.
Take a careful look at the mailing activity under Bulk Permit #1455. What was sent out when???
TJB spews:
Why is it so important that the DEMS hold a rally tomorrow in Olympia and call or email their legislator requesting them to certify the election? I thought Rossi’s attempt to contest the election in the courts has no merit…hmm?
John spews:

“I thought Rossi’s attempt to contest the election in the courts has no merit…hmm?”
Which is EXACTLY why anyone, who has a respect for the rule of law, should oppose his effort to cricumvent the courts(and having to prove his accusations by thier rigorous standard) in favor of the lower standard of proof required to convince the legislature to do his bidding. If Rossi had had the balls to call for a revote when he was ahead, and when all the ‘problems’ the GOP is currently citing already existted and where known to the Rossi campaign and the state GOP, he would be far more credible. As it stands, Rossi’s actions have shown he has no problem with ‘error-ridden’ elections, which cause the determination of a legitimate winner to be impossible to determine….so long as he is the winner.
Erik spews:
Why is it so important that the DEMS hold a rally tomorrow in Olympia and call or email their legislator requesting them to certify the election?
Because the orange anarchists are pressuring the legislature to bypass the rule of law and demanding mob rule by force.
Mr. Cynical spews:
John–
UMMMMMMM…so with your logic, why isn’t Gregoire digging into the allegations of wrong-doing??? BECAUSE SHE IS AHEAD!!!
I could use your logic and ask what kind of Governor would Gregoire be if she accepts the throne and turns a blind-eye to an obvious dark cloud? Is it error-ridden or not?? Shouldn’t Gregoire as a 12-year Attorney General have been interested in this long, long ago?? C’mon John. This thing will play out in the State and likely the Federal Courts as well. In November, I said the Supreme Court will decide who our Governor is (I didn’t say which Supreme Court!!) because John, if there is a re-vote, Rossi will win by 5 points.
Josef of Josef-a-k.blogspot.com spews:
You all Gregocrats, I think you should stop and think before you defend what you farcically call “the most accurate election in Washington’s history”.
How many more dead people need to have been shown to vote and more before you call for a new election?
Eileen Nelson spews:
Cheaters.
Aaron spews:
Crack head.
Erik spews:
By the narrowest possible margin, Democrats in the Senate rebuffed efforts by minority Republicans to force a two-week delay in issuing Gregoire a certificate of election. She needs the certificate to be inaugurated on Wednesday.
At this rate, after certification, I would not be surprised to see the Vance team call for Rossi never-say-die supporters to physically block Gregoire from entering the governor’s office.
The difference between the wearers of Orange and the wearers of Black are becoming narrower by the moment.
RDC spews:
Rick…on what basis are you calling this “the most corrupt election in our state’s history”? Are you that knowledgable about our more than a century of statehood to know that this one, out of the many elections held in that period, is “the most corrupt”? Or are you engaging in mindless rhetoric? I’m not well-versed in Washington state history, but I am in U.S. history, and based on that knowledge I’d be happy to wager that the election just completed is far from being the “most corrupt” our state has experienced.

Republicans are miscalculating this. Washington State isn’t in any danger of being overun by Dittoheads. Republicans are spending political capital on a losing cause and are going to end up with less power than they had before the election. There’s nothing worse than a hypocrite except for a lying hypocrite. If they get their followers to actually block Gregoire from taking office then Rossi can forget ever winning any office in this state in the future.
bby spews:
What happed to the Dino supporters who several weeks ago speculated the Dems would not remain united in the Legislature…..well, guess what, they found their backbone.
Tim Sheldon is an open Republican, runs as a Democrat. Totally impossible to comprehend.
Rossi people will become more and more whacked out – and he will begin to sound like Ellen Craswell and Johm Carlson. The mask has fallen.
The right wing is ever more shrill and without any content each day. One of the looming projects is to impeach Sam Reed.
Look for Dino to be snapped up by Bush who is having trouble finding people for all the vacant posts. Rossi would fit right in.
Erik spews:

I think you are right. I think Rossi did so well last election because he was able to convince people that the republicans had moderated from the likes of Carlson and Craswell. People may very well come to the conclusion after tomorrows Orange attack on the capital that they haven’t changed at all and require the republicans to wait another 20 years to make a run at the governor’s seat again.
Tomorrow should be an interesting day. Its not going to be pretty.
Peter spews:
Just got the day off for the rally tomorrow – should be interesting and good time to take a look at the newly refurb. legislature building. Got caught kissing there in the fancy reception parlor as jr. high kid, on tour. Became a legend at school – my dating game went up 100 per cent as a ninth grader.
Dress warmly, get there early. parking will be crazy.
Josef of Josef-a-k.blogspot.com spews:
You all had better realize this: Tomorrow’s rally isn’t all that big. There’s gonna be more for the Coalition of the Voting…
Maybe one in Mount Vernon, maybe another in Yakima and maybe another in Chelalis in front of “The Chronicle” offices to thank them for their support.
Mr. Cynical spews:
My buddy, a hardcore Dem who hates Bush, just forwarded an e-mail he received from Moveon.org. Quite unimpressive..the guy who wrote it isn’t even from Washington State.
My buddy’s response was shocking…he reminded them of their hypocrisy and said he would vote for a Republican this time if their is a re-vote. Apparently he holds his Democratic Party to a high standard. Imagine that!
Chuck spews:
I dont suppose the new changing of the dates of absentees lives up to anyones standard of crookedness? How about sending absentees out the day before they were taken to court by the Justice Dept? Oh that is right it was a coincedence…and of coarse incompetence that is leading the King county parade… when are you guys going to wake up Goldy….oh that must be because you guys are incompetent when it comes to seeing corruption….come on Goldy, even if you stick to keeping Chrissy, you can see the corruption, it is in your face. My god man, if Bush had close to this you would want him tarred and feathered with an apple in his mouth.
Goldy spews:
We choose our governor by who wins the eleciton on the first Tuesday in November, not on who wins the PR battle afterwards.
The fact is, Rossi lost by the rules in place. Gregoires 129 vote margin is no less certain than Rossi’s 42 vote margin, or even his 264 vote margin. This election was simply too close to be certain, and you know that.
So Cynical, you and your BIAW buddies buy all the paid media you want to convince voters that they’ve been cheated… but it doesn’t make it true.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Goldy–I love you man! No one can say that you and I aren’t consistent. The problem is one of us will prove out to be consistently wrong. The majority of voters feel like they’ve be cheated at the moment, don’t you think Goldy? I kind of admire you for sidesteppin’ the “Rossi by 5 points” prediction. Gregoire governance will be just like she mismanaged that AG’s Office and jumping to take credit for a couple slamdunks (incl. tobacco) and never accepting any blame for mistakes or poor management.
I don’t disagree Goldy that “the election was too close to call”. Will the Courts agree after seeing all the evidence…that is the ??????
And be sure to look at the Post Office records on when certain things were mailed out. That just might prove interesting…another mistake?? Perhaps.
What will tomorrow bring? The only reporter I have any confidence in is David Postman at the Seattle Times. I have much less confidence in his editors for reasons we can discuss over those beers when this is all over.
Erik spews:
I dont suppose the new changing of the dates of absentees lives up to anyones standard of crookedness? How about sending absentees out the day before they were taken to court by the Justice Dept?
I support Rossi bring a contest action if he believes it has merits. However, he refuses to bring the evidence of the case forward to contest the election. Instead he simply wants to win the election through bringing a mob to Olympia to overthrow the election results.
The Orange mob doesn’t seem to care about what the auditors of the 39 counties have reported or the canvassing boards of the counties. They don’t care what the republican Secretary of State says. They don’t want to follow state law and contest the election.
Instead, they just want the whole election throw out without having to prove a single one of their accusations in court. Many of their accusations are based on anonymous emails posted to web sites.
If the republicans had a strong case for overturning the election, they would present the evidence and easily have the election thrown out.
If anything, this shows the reasons why Washingtonians have been reluctant to give a state wide office to a republican.
M spews:
All the King county fraud is coming out….it’s crashing down all around them….Gregoireovich is NOT having fun this week, knowing it’s all quite possibly an exercise in going through the motions until she has to give up her seat to somebody else in a few months. she sounds a bit hollow. She’s a lawyer. She knows the law, and she knows the evidence that’s coming out. She gets it, even if y’all don’t.
Mr. Cynical spews:
Now M–be careful using the F-word(FRAUD). It’s a legal term that requires a very high standard of proof. It’s the word the Dems like to hear us Rossi supporters repeat over and over again.
Kindly refer to them as “wrongful acts, neglect, errors or omissions”. That really drives them crazy. Got it??
Oh and don’t take the PROOF bait either…the law says APPEARS.
See the game the Dems are playing? Don’t bite!

Erik spews:

That’s a sufficient standard for a blog, but not for the courts.
Last time the republicans went to court, they came up with nothing to support their position. The court rules 8-0 against them. All of the allegations concerning the ballots relied on so wholeheartedly by the bloggers came to zero.
Maybe Rossi will come up with enough. The issue is not one of fraud or mistakes. There are a number of difficult elements to meet to even get in the arena to have the election overturned.
The republicans are asking for extensive discovery as reference in their first motion before the court on 1/14/2005. Thus, even they don’t believe they have enough yet.

True Jim, the Secretary of State believes they are nuts, the canvassing boards wont listen to them nor the Supreme Court or the Legislature. Not even republican voting Ken Schram.
Nevermind. They can have at least one good Orange rally tomorrow and rant and rave which will be carried live by KVI.
Let them have this moment can’t you?

Yes, the name calling occurs with either intentional or unintentional mis-spellings of people’s names and slavik slurs. Yes, the Great Pumpkins will be there tomorrow all in Orange. Most of it is BIAW funded though. They have arisen as he main republican attack machine these days after the demise of Big Tobacco.

Where were you when there were 10,000 anti-war demonstrators and 10 pro-war demonstrators? Clearly being able to muster up more people than the other side isn’t going go guarantee you anything.
And managing to eke out a couple thousand people is hardly the “popular revolt” that you keep speaking of.
