Goldy has already had a few posts about the immigration rally, and there is other good information elsewhere. But at these sort of things, I always like to see what people are writing on their signs. So here’s the text of some of the signs.
First, a quick note: This isn’t meant to be comprehensive, and sometimes there were more than one sign that said similar things, so I only included one. I tended toward handwritten signs, but some of these were mass produced. Also, some things work fine as signs, but are tough to put onto a blog post. Most signs were in all caps, but to make it easier to read here, I’ve added capitalization and sometimes punctuation to try to stay faithful to the message.

You meant to say…anybody and everybody is welcome to move here and become citizens.
That’s wrong, unnatural, no other country in the world does that, its just weak minded liberal thinking.
Michael spews:
And then there’s the Teabonic signs.

Michael spews:
@1
No, that’s not what we mean.
Johnny Reb spews:
I particularly like this one. “- We are not criminals”
1st They are criminals if the have come into the US illegally.
2nd They do take away jobs from American citizens. (I know the argument – there jobs we won’t do, Watch Dirty Jobs much?; They keep the wages depressed etc et al)
3rd They are a drain on our current OOPS former Health Care system which by the way caused much of the problems in the southern states and Cali and Oregon And Washington.
4th Last but not least what about the related gang activity, drugs etc.
If WE resolve the illegal Immigration issue by deportation and closing the border a portion of what is happening will go away.
My prediction Obama and his ilk will get reform through, we will have more “Democratic” voters and the cost of a lot of products will go sky high due to the Unionising of this labour force.
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
@3..it most certainly is.
@4..is correct…its all about a new bloc of voters that the democrats are going for.
how about his kind of reform: severely punish companies that hire illegal aliens – and as for the illegal aliens themselves: kick them the fuck out of here and get serious about securing our borders.
We are the only country in the world where the political parties are willing to cut our own damn throats for the sake of getting more votes.
fuck em all..
Puddybud Remembers ylb arschloch is an arschloch spews:
What part of legal immigration don’t progressives understand?
YLB spews:
7 – What part of it’s illegal to hire undocumented workers that right wingers like that Weissbach hypocrite doesn’t understand.
But never talk about the rich or wannabe rich right winger doing the hiring. Always blame the poor undocumented worker just trying to survive.
righton spews:
ylb; we understand your Orwellian language….they are illegals….they were not teletransported here…they walked, rode, flew to this country on their own volition. Similarly we can send them back.
maybe we should just be cute like you guys and call them pre democrat imported voting bloc
YLB spews:
8 – Again not talking about the right wingers who hire them..
Ok to spend money to lock undocumented workers up, build worthless fences and burn fuel to send them back.
NOT OK to severely fine corporations and their right wing masters who use their cheap labor.
Did I say no mention of rich right wingers like Weissbach, an ego so large he projects it on right wing hate talk radio, USING CHEAP UNDOCUMENTED LABOR????
Again the paranoid right wing mind reveals itself. I’ve NEVER seen any credible evidence that undocumented workers vote much IF AT ALL.
Kermit the Deathfrogger spews:
If only it were that easy. Here’s a bad book (the author’s clearly grinding a grudge about getting fired) that makes a good point: Even violent felon illegal aliens often can’t be sent back because it’s not possible to know where they came from or, even worse, a known country of origin refuses to take the alien felon back.
Holbrook writes about seeing the liberal progressive ACLU revolving door in action: Illegal alien criminals jump our borders, commit felonies, do a little time, can’t be deported, and are quickly released to our streets to reoffend.

“It is both a right and a responsibility of a democratic society to manage immigration so that it serves the national interest.”
– Barbara Jordan
Earth Day anyone?Our population is growing out of control due to massive immigration.

pukebucket leftist spews:
It’s always unsettling when leftists such as Barbara Jordan and Gaylord Nelson come to the right conclusion for the wrong reasons.
Nerf Day, anyone?
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
Once again: punish companies that hire illegal aliens, and kick the illegal aliens out of the country.
why is that concept so hard for some people to grasp?
YLB spews:
Is all you need to do. If no one hires undocumented workers, then they can’t stay here.
Michael spews:
@14
Exactly.
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
Wrong…you need to do BOTH. That is the ONLY way any real reform will work. It must be attacked from both sides, not just one.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Given that there are over 6 billion humans on the planet, and only 300 million of them live in the U.S.A., and who our parents are is a random accident of birth, not a day should go by that you don’t get on your knees and thank the Almighty for dropping you into this country instead of Mexico or some third-world shithole.
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
@17…true that.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@12 It’s even worse when wingers come to the wrong conclusion for the wrong reasons, which is par for the course with them.
Roger Maggot spews:
At last. Roger gets it.
America treats most of us better than we deserve.
Mr. Poopy Pants is sorry Mr. Hankey has a peanut and a piece of corn in his head. spews:
Would the undocumented workers be OK if they arrived in slave ships?
hepcat spews:
yo
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
@21…nope.
hepcat spews:
re 23: Even an idiot like yourself can understand that the reason things are tough in Mexico is in part because of NAFTA and that the undocumented workers come here because they are hired by large corporations who want cheap labor.
And you are right in saying that the US has historically encouraged all manner of immigrants. You can read all about it on the statue of liberty.
But, I’m sure a patriot like you already knows that.
spark global spews:
Great collection, Carl! Great coverage, HA!
Some inspired signs – and powerful messages – there. It’s clear that are immigration laws and quotas are outdated. One example: the children of a 90-year-old Filipino war veteran who helped save hundreds of American lives have been waiting for more than a generation to come to the U.S. How is that justice or something we can be proud of?
So screaming about enforcement and “criminals” when we should be thankful for service, hard workers, and making our country stronger is way off base. And the thousands of people who showed up in Seattle on Saturday represent millions more who want real and just reform now. And we’ll keep fighting for it.
Vince with Slap-Chop spews:
@24…you seem to have trouble with the distinction between legal immigration and illegal immigration…
study up on the difference between the two, then come back and play.
spark global spews:
@26 – so we sell how great America is to the world – and then help drive migration due in part to our foreign policies. is it any surprise that people take us up it? combine that with outdated laws and country quotas not changed in 20 years and should it be any surprise?
