It’s possible that someone as misogynistic as Mark Driscoll should have stayed away from a religion whose basic tenet is that a woman bore a savior who was fathered by someone other than her husband.
Because it seems he has gone insane.
I think this is emblematic of many religions, particularly much of Christianity, or Christianism. They (the hierarchy) have an absolutely FREAK-Y (think White Goodman) relationship with sex and sexuality and sexual pleasure and the notion that it could all be a healthy, joyous thing. There’s a deep self-loathing that when percolated deep in a conflicted, confused, shamed person, comes out in terribly destructive ways – like this, or pedophile priests or Ted Haggard or the relationship with the Catholic Church and women as a group.
