The TNT reports that Sen. Patty Murray will vote yes on the the bailout package coming before the US Senate tonight, while I believe Sen. Maria Cantwell just spoke on the floor indicating that she would vote no. I’ve emailed Sen. Cantwell’s office asking for confirmation and comment.
UPDATE:
As expected, the bailout passed the Senate by a wide margin, 74-25. Murray voted yes, Cantwell no.

Why are conservatives terrified of Gwen Ifill? Are they afraid she’ll ask tough questions that make Palin look stupid, e.g. “what country is Alaska part of?”
Roger Rabbit spews:
The Constitution doesn’t ban creditors prisons, only debtors prisons.

My understanding is that the bailout package would require an appropriation of funds. How, then, could this bill originate in the Senate? I thought appropriations bills had to start in the House!
rhp6033 spews:
Roger @ 1: The right wing is “working the refs”. They want to (a) put her on the defensive and hopefully tilt her in favor of Palin, (b) have a ready excuse available, in advance, for Palin’s poor performance in the debate, and (c) are prepared to spend Friday trying to change the topic in the news cycle from Palin’s peformance in the debate to “was the moderator unfair to poor Gov. Palin?”

RR @ 2: Gee, anybody here remember when usury was a crime? Ronald Reagan and cooperative state governments pretty much abolished that, for all practical purposes, back in the early 1980’s.
Of course, when we had usury laws credit was harder to get. Banks made their money by being careful to make sure it would be paid back. Bank failures were distant memories of survivors of the Great Depression and a few lines in the history books.
But since the abolishment of usury in the early 1980’s, we had the collapse of the Savings & Loan system in 1987, and the current near-collapse of the (much larger) current banking & investment system of 2007-2008.

Indiana In Play?
Newsweek reports that Obama is pouring staff and money into Indiana, and the McCain campaign (which has ignored the state) is following suit. Why? Because Indiana’s 11 electoral votes are no longer a sure thing for McCain.
While most polls still show McCain with a (albeit narrowing) lead in Indiana, Ann Selzer — considered the most accurate pollster, and the only one who correctly called Iowa last spring — has Obama winning Indiana by 3 points. Sezler’s polls adjust for demographic changes since the 2004 election; the other polls don’t.
Meanwhile, RealClearPolitics’ new electoral vote tally has Obama defeating McCain decisively, 353 – 185. In this scenario, Obama wins both Ohio and Florida. He currently leads in both states, according to the latest polls.
Nationally, the latest AP polls shows Obama has Obama a 7-point lead over McCain.

@3 I thought appropriations bills had to start in the House!
That was the case under the now-abandoned United States Constitution.
Now we are now operating under the Reid-Pelosi (and Murray) rules: “Yes Sir, Mr. bush. Whatever you say.”

The horror. Murray & Cantwell do the splits.

Used to be I didn’t particularly like Cantwell, but I have to admit that’s starting to change.

I just sent a thank you note to Cantwell.
You must hear Cantwell’s senate floor speech, there’s video of it on her website.
