Well, the Times hasn’t endorsed Barack Obama in the general election yet, but they will. They’ll also endorse Dino Rossi, Dave Reichert and Rob McKenna. But you know, because they’ll endorse the Democrat at the top of the ticket it will prove that they are in fact nonpartisan.
Remind me of my prediction come November.

Podium!
oops wrong blog…
Isn’t it a bit early for the Times to be endorsing anybody? I am so sick of this election.

Kennedy Has Malignant Brain Tumor
Doctors at Massachusetts General Hospital announced this morning that Sen. Ted Kennedy’s seizure last week was caused by a malignant brain tumor called a “glioma.”
The diagnosis was confirmed by a biopsy. The usual treatment is a combination of radiation and chemotherapy. Average survival times among patients with gliomas vary from less than a year to 5 years, depending on how advanced and aggressive the tumor is.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@1 Yes, we should do away with elections and let history take its course, and simply cross our fingers and hope for a relatively mild despot.
(squeaky rabbit voice dripping with sarcasm)
Roger Rabbit spews:
Why bother with politics? After all, it’s unpleasant at best, and can get downright nasty. It makes severe demands on our time, emotional energy, and purses. Politics is a cruel mistress that rarely (if ever) pleases and disappoints us over and over again. So why get involved? Wouldn’t it be better to hide in a rabbit hole somewhere, sleep in, and leave politics to others?
To understand why I can’t leave politics to others, or to the chancy winds of fate, google the phrase “photographs of Holocaust victims.” Because when you default on your political responsibilities and let “others” decide the fates of peoples, nations, and the world, that’s what you get.
All Facts Support My Positions spews:
How could anyone endorse Reichert, arguably the least effective congresspeople. Especially since the GOP will be in the minority for possibly decades.

Bunny Man, seeing that Obama crowd in Portland the other day makes it a little more tolerable….

Where is your sympathy for the Kopechne family?
Ted’s a murderer.
She was killed before the age of 30. He’d outlived his usefulness before that age.
Poster Child spews:
Come now, Rabbit, you can’t possibly think that the U.S. method of choosing our government – years-long elections cycles, the squandering of billions of dollars on advertising, and the near total suspension of the legislative process while candidates seek contributions and the news media obsess on the horse race rather than issues is the best system there is.
I know many of you here are wonks, but jesus this system (this year in particular) is a wasteful piece of shit.

That is truly sad news. Ted Kennedy has been a powerful voice for the poor, the screwed, and the downtrodden his entire career. Few can articulate so well the concerns of those who would otherwise be completely ignored in our lobbyist-rich political system. Moreover, he has handled with grace the vilification from the right that has been incessantly lobbed at him (see post 8 above) because of a mistake made 40 years ago. (I wonder why so many of those who preach forgiveness are incapable of forgiving.) Ted Kennedy is an American hero.

@ 10 – At least most forgave Laura Bush for her incident when she was a teen!

You’re being an optimist, Goldy – I suspect they’ll somehow endorse Lieberman again. ;-)
cmiklich spews:
Whoa.
Yer wrong again liberal-heads!
Laura Bush did NOT flee the scene. Laura Bush remained at the scene rendering aid. She was also 17 years old!!
Ted, after spending the night at a party with a bunch of married men and single women (NO WIVES!!), was driving DRUNK at the AGE OF 37. NOT! 17. DRUNK! NOT SOBER!
LEFT THE SCENE!
COVERED IT UP!
LIED ABOUT IT!!
What’s happening to Ted is called “justice”, something you libs can’t begin to understand.

Golly cmiklich,
At least Kennedy didn’t deliberately commit war crimes and order the murder of hundreds of thousands of people like Bush and his administration did.
I-Burn spews:
@17 Yep. I bet old Bush ordered the troops to do just that – “Men, I want you to go into Iraq and go ahead and murder hundreds of thousands of people. Go on. Do what I told you.”
First of all, “hundreds of thousands” haven’t been killed. Second, ahh… what’s the freakin use.
Whatever.
