Chief Justice John G. Roberts was ushered into the Map Room of the White House on Wednesday night to re-administer the oath of office to President Barack Obama because the original oath on Tuesday had a word out of sequence.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said the move was made out of “an abundance of caution” in consultation with White House Counsel Greg Craig. Obama’s second swearing-in, devoid of the pomp of the initial event, took place at 7:35 p.m. in the presence of a few aides and a press pool. The chief justice was wearing a court robe. “Are you ready to take the oath?” Roberts said. “I am,” Obama said, “And we’re going to do it very slowly.”
No word on whether Obama was wearing a flag pin while holding his birth certificate.

(1) Funny how the wingnuts keep trying to blame Obama for the mistake, when it was clearly Roberts who made the error. The fact that they keep repeating that Obama “flubbed” the oath is just more evidence (as if we needed any) that they really don’t care about the facts, they would rather keep repeating a convenient lie.
(2) Obama was President as of noon, according to the Constitution. The Constitution only requires the oath to be taken before “executing” the office of President.
(3) The original oath was sufficient, even though flawed. The order in which the word “faithfully” was uttered did not change the meaning, and the Supreme Court would have dismissed any challenge to Obama’s Presidency on that basis as incosequential trivial nit-picking, and generally a waste of the court’s time. Besides, what idiot is going to go in front of Robert’s own court, and argue that Robert’s mistake caused the entire 2008 election to be voided? Only a few of the wingnuts here would dare to attempt such an utter display of stupidity in public. Most lawyers are smart enough to know not to try to win a case by arguing that the judge deciding the case is stupid.
(4) The re-taking of the oath was done simply to cut short all the wingnuts who were scurrying around trying to find lawyers to bring a case arguing that Obama isn’t really the President. It would be a waste of the government’s time and the taxpayer’s money to have to defend such trivial lawsuits, the re-taking of the oath makes it easy for the District Courts to dismiss such lawsuits shortly after filing. The order would probably read:
