The Seattle Times is having a live, online chat today at 1 PM with the candidates for King County executive — the incumbent Ron Sims, and his overmatched challenger David Irons — and they have provided an online form where you can pose your own questions.
Hmm. Well, if you can’t think of anything to ask Irons, here’s a few suggestions:
Q: “Have you ever left an angry message on the voicemail of a female employee, which could have been or was perceived as threatening or abusive? Did anyone ever talk to you about this behavior, and if so, who?”
Q: “Have written or unwritten protocols ever been set up at the Council for your interaction with any female council staff member(s) due to your abusive behavior? When and by whom?”
Q: “Has anyone, whether in the private or public sector, ever left her job because of angry, threatening phone messages and/or harrassment by you?”
Just thought voters might be curious to hear the answers.

Judge Removed From DeLay’s Criminal Case
Its funny to me… I used to consider myself torn between the two parties. I generally want fiscally responsible leaders who are socially moderate. Ten years ago it used to be that Republicans could be counted on to be for things like balanced budgets and reduced spending and Democrats were much better on social and cultural issues.
In this election, Sims has done one of the best jobs in the country of managing King County’s finances, and yet the Republicans are not interested. Perhaps the party is just so drunk with power and arrogance on the national level that it sees no reason worry about things like sane fiscal management and good government.
I can understand why the Critical Areas Ordinance upsets people, but it really is not a deciding factor here as Irons has supported it as well. Sims is not a perfect candidate but he is certainly the better of the two.
Y’know what, PROUDASShole, the selection of questions for every single online chat, whether it’s political candidates or sports figures or book reviewers, is completely controlled by the moderator. So cut the faux-outrage.

DeLay just set a precedent that a campaign contribution by a judge is a conflict of interest for a judge, so now Earle can do the same if the next judge has made contributions to a Republican organization.
Fortunately, Earle is more ethical than DeLay and knows this isn’t a political witch hunt, so he doesn’t care which party the judge contributes to. Just that they are fair and honest, two traits that DeLay does not have.

That would mean that assessed value could exceed, even greatly, market value, since the market only assigns a value based on what can actually be done with the property. Assessed value, at least in Snohomish, is based in part off recent sales. When I bought my house, the assessment was 8K more than the sale price. I called up and they dropped the assessment about 10K. I don’t see how the county could assign an assessment based on theoretical uses. If it does, you probably have a nice class action lawsuit, on behalf of all affected landowners. I suspect you are wrong on this however.

You ought to know by now when I’m throwing out fireballs just to piss some people off, and when I’m in a serious mood. And saying that the King of Kings would be politically affiliated with an institution of mankind is laughable at best. No political party can claim Jesus on their side. We can only claim to be on Jesus’ side. Although, many of the extreme right wing Christian conservatives claim that Jesus is on their side, or that somehow by default Liberals cannot claim to be with Jesus.
The truth is Jesus loves all the people at the ACLU as much as he loves you and me. We all have our faults and Jesus accepts them. We ALL have broken one of the Ten Commandments at one time or another and at the very least we all have the Original Sin.
That said, I choose to follow religion as a guide for my personal life. Being a Constitutionalist and a firm believer in Thomas Jefferson I give you this quote.
“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between church and State.
-Thomas Jefferson, letter to Danbury Baptist Association, CT., Jan. 1, 1802”
Two things about this quote are significant to me as an American and Constitutionalist.
1)That religion is matter between a person and God, only.
2)The most significant portion of this quote is that it’s a passage from a letter that outlines the thinking of our Founding Fathers regarding religion and politics. Clearly, our the Founding Fathers of our nation wanted government to only reach action and not OPINION. What you, me or anyone else believes about religion is ONLY an opinion, a personal belief if you will. Thus, the rest of the religious rights arguments regarding the ACLU and Christian symbols in government places is rendered moot.
This is the passage where many people confuse the notion that the words “wall of separation between church and State” are in the Constitution. Clearly they are not in the 1st amendment or anywhere else, but it does, without a shadow of doubt, clarify what they meant.
Now, if they were only so clear about the 2nd amendment.

One question, have you ever sworn, or used $$ in places of “S” to convey a swear word?
It’s obvious that a persons vocabulary, use of strong language, and delivery of it, are very very important to those that started this blog/thread. If (for some reason) one is supposed to take offense at things allegedly said to a subordinate or co-worker that is female, because they were harsh, or strong, or profanity, then just why on earth wouldn’t they have left this entire website, and promptly?!!
The language used here pervasively is the best indicator of the level of intellect, morality, and social skills of those who use it.
I don’t like hip-hop or rap either. (or is it just the “artists” that irritate me?) ….and I’m just a blue-collar guy.
