Rob Mckenna’s campaign was asked about why they exclude The Stranger (and God Bless the reporter who asked it). It seems the fact that Dan Savage gave Jay Inslee’s campaign money and the fact Goldy is technically in charge of a PAC that hasn’t done anything in several years, that the whole paper should be considered biased against them.
Maybe. But if you’re a human, it’s impossible not to be biased. So one of The Stranger’s reporters wears, or several years ago wore, that on his sleeve. If he’s not fair on those calls or press conferences, well the rest of the media there will see that.
And look, I’m not sure how much news actually gets generated at press conferences and phone ins to the campaign staff, really. I mean this is the first time in a while I can remember something from one of these making the news.
Further, McKenna can run his campaign however he wants. It’s not his official office. But if he wants to run it like a whiny, pathetic baby, well, people are going to notice.

The Stranger should hire me! I was a newspaper reporter before I became a lawyer, and I don’t have human biases, so Robbie should have no problem with me asking him trenchant questions about how he’s going to conjure up all that money he’s promising for education.
Richard Pope spews:
Geez, if McKenna doesn’t have the intestinal fortitude stand up to Goldy, how does he have the strength to be Governor? Inslee wins on these attributes hands down …

As long as it doesn’t include having a state income tax, McKenna can push whatever agenda he chooses. (I doubt he’ll win in November, but if he does, he can do what he wants.) The biggest advantage of living here is no state income tax.

That’s a very good question!
I knew going into this that McKenna was playing at being a centrist-y wonkish guy, but that it was all an act. However, I had no idea what a whiny, thin-skinned, petulant coward he was.
That does not bode well. Guys like that crave power and control, and are easily driven into a fearful bunker mentality. They lash out, keep grudges and enemies lists, are not trustworthy.
I think the image of the campaign is either a) hiding behind the cupcake table waiting for security to shoo away the Oh-so-scary liberal reporter, or b) running away in fear from the young woman trying to ask a question, clearly afraid, but yelling nasty “Get a job” barbs at her as he ran away.
‘Pathetic’ is a perfect word for him.

@5 Not too far removed from Motherbeater Irons in terms of backbone and principle. Those two could play the role of kissing cousins.

Then again, McKenna also tried to exclude The Stranger from press conferences held by his official office. He’s an official whiny, pathetic baby too.
Politically Incorrect spews:
@4,
Nobody is stopping you from funding what you think is important. Just do it with your money, and you can feel smug and arrogant. Of course, I realize that’s your normal demeanor, but once you contribute your entire wealth to fund your views, you can feel selfrighteous, too!
Politically Incorrect spews:
NO STATE INCOME TAX FOR WASHINGTON! NEVER, NEVER, EVER!!

So I’m late getting around to this – it was a busy week – but I got curious and checked the PDC reports for contributions (focusing on individual donations, expenditures, and independent expenditures) for both McKenna and Inslee.
Guess what? I didn’t find anyone listed as a Stranger employee, or Dan Savage, giving to Inslee’s campaign. Or McKenna’s.
But I did find a guy who works for the Times – not an editorial reporter – who gave McKenna $250, and another non-editorial guy who gave Inslee $200.
It’s pretty clear which paper McKenna should be barring from his press conferences.
