NYT International Editor approves running a completely bullshit made up “hard news” story that essentially just passes along unsourced and unsubstantiated allegations from Rudy Giuliani channeled through a freelance correspondent who also happens to be an employee of the Ukrainian government official working with Giuliani at the time of the reporting.
When the “journalist’s” employment relationship is uncovered the NYT declares that they stand by her reporting. When the falsehoods in the report are put on display, the NYT issues back page “corrections” and “updates”, but continues to stand by the story and leave it up for publication.
Then four months later, after the White House corruption back story behind all that gets revealed an opinion columnist for the NYT finds Jesus? Who gives a fuck? Where’s the fucking Ed Board? Why hasn’t Michael Slackman been fired or reassigned? Where’s the front page above the fold retraction admitting that they let themselves be used like a $20 Lot Lizard?
Fuck the New York Times. They are the problem. Not the solution.

Reports now coming out that it is administration sources being directed by the OLC who have been leaking the details of one of the phone calls. Atkinson has done nothing, other than complete his report, make his recommendations, and then, as provided for in the statute, inform the HPSCI about the report. The whistleblower, who the administration is alleging is the leaker, has not gone outside the IC IG process according to Atkinson. Given the sensitivity of the material involved (communications between the President and foreign heads of state) and how closely controlled it is, it wouldn’t take much of a mole hunt to discover the source.
Which leaves the only other people to have seen the report: ADNI and OLC operating within the White House.
Question: Why would they leak the damning details of president peepee’s threats and inducements to get foreign election tampering?
Answer: Because as bad as that looks, it looks good in comparison to the rest of the report.
The White House, Senate Child Molesters, and Finger Rape Media are now pushing with all they’ve got to make this corruption investigation about the July 25th phone call to the exclusion of the rest of the IC IG report.
Whether or not the media will get around to really looking at the technical details of this, or just keep foghorning about impeachment remains to be seen. But in fact, if things continue to move as slowly as they have, and if Trumpologists like Graham are successful, lazy access journalists will reduce the narrative to the one phone call and chalk up another big win for Finger Rape.
But if you look at the statute with care, and examine the relatively thin record of similar complaints, the finding of “Urgent Concern” does not jibe well with what is being reported so far about the July 25 phone call between president peepee and Zelensky.
The ICWPA defines urgent concern in strict terms. And for purposes of the phone call in question only the first clause applies (the other two relating to false reporting to Congress and retaliation):
(A) A serious or flagrant problem, abuse, violation of law or Executive order, or deficiency relating to the funding, administration, or operations of an intelligence activity involving classified information, but does not include differences of opinions concerning public policy matters[;]
As troubling and manifestly corrupt as it may be, a President calling a foreign leader to strong arm him about screwing with a political opponent probably does not meet that standard. Even when it involves Congressional appropriated funds it doesn’t get there. And there’s just no evidence or reason to conclude that Atkinson would make such a determination based on what is being reported about the July 25 phone call.
A little history is in order here. Atkinson was appointed and confirmed in the wake of a scandalous period of pogrom within the Office of the IC IG. His immediate predecessor acting IC IG Stone abruptly fired the whistleblowing czar within the office and gutted the staff in a period of less than two weeks, producing a bi-partisan storm of complaint and inquiry from both the House and Senate culminating in Stone’s replacement. Atkinson, a trusted Republican Trump loyalist from within DOJ, was brought in and tasked with rebuilding what Stone and his beach head team had wrecked.
The last thing in the world either Atkinson or the ODNI would have been looking for in these circumstances would be a constitutional crisis involving their office. They would have been laser focused on being careful, precise, adhering to regulations, and relying on established legal norms and precedents. Hastily or casually bumping up a complaint to the HPSCI is the absolute last thing they would have done.
It beggars belief to conclude that the one July 25 phone call is in any way representative of the credible allegations contained within ICIG report. The full court press now being conducted to trade a transcript of that call for the full report is yet the latest example of The Gaslighting. And it just might work.

Also, and not for nothing, Brad PubeFace thinks the way to win MI is to nope out the challenge to Peters, believing that it will suppress the Dem turnout if Peters runs unopposed. Their pick for challenging Peters lost to Stabenow last year 52% to 45%. So they might actually have a point.
But thing is, the threat of impeachment backlash disappears if these swing state Dems run unopposed. We can only hope that Pelosi is factoring these considerations in her calculus. But for the GOP it could come down to choosing where you want to lose, the Electoral College or the Senate?

But the goal in all this is two fold: to admit to conduct that is manifestly corrupt and impeachable; and to move the goal line on what conduct is impeachable just beyond whatever it is you’ve admitted to. And the only person who can stop it is Nancy Pelosi.

A Florida homeowner used his AR-15-platform rifle to protect himself from four alleged home invaders who reportedly broke into his house intending to rob him. An hour before the invasion, one of the men apparently knocked on the door and attempted to lure the homeowner outside by claiming to need help with his vehicle. The owner refused, explaining that he was disabled. The man returned later with three others and broke into the home, entering both at the front and the rear of the residence. Awakened by the noise, the homeowner grabbed his AR-15 rifle that he kept near his bed for protection. Two robbers fired at the homeowner. One, wearing a “Jason” mask and gloves on both hand, used a semi-automatic pistol, while the other was a 22-year-old armed with a shotgun. In the ensuing exchange of gunfire, one robber was killed at the scene. The other died from his injuries in a hospital. The homeowner was wounded during the invasion and subsequently hospitalized, but was reported to be in stable condition.
