I am curious if other people in Washington feel like the pandemic is over? I am writing this on public transportation with my mask on. And in some places (more as of today) I have to show that I’m vaccinated. More people at my work — me included some days — are working from home than before the pandemic.
But Seattle is hopping. Downtown has people doing typical Downtown stuff. People are out and about all day. Brunch places are packed on the weekends. I am able to go to the dentist for an overdue cleaning. People are doing routine medical procedures. Most importantly, people are not getting sick and dying in large numbers.
I don’t have children, so I understand that for a population that can’t get vaccinated it’s tougher. But even then, they’re back in school unless there’s a relatively rare breakout.
Anyway, it’s still important to take precautions. So wash your hands right now. And for the love of God get vaccinated if you haven’t yet.

Vicious Troll spews:
@ 21
Washington State has the worst solar power potential than any other state in the US.
It’s not about the power potential. It’s about a transfer of wealth to solar system financiers and manufacturers. Further, there was a scheme to transfer wealth from rate payers to early solar adopters, although that has collapsed now that enough people have been suckered into it.
I purchased solar panels. It cost me around $18k for the system.
I received:
1. No sales tax on the purchase – savings of about $1800
2. $5500 federal tax credit. Credit, not a deduction.
3. $500/kW rebate from the electric company. For my system this was $1700.
4. Roughly $2000-2200 per year paid @ $0.54/kWh solar energy produced by the system.
5. Savings of around $200/year because I didn’t have to pay for the electricity that my solar system produced.
6. Accelerated depreciation of the cost of the system less the federal tax credit, which was about $2500/year deduction for five years.
The rebate from the electric company and the 0.54/kWh paid to me came from other ratepayers – the poor schmucks who vote Democrat but can’t afford solar. A fund was created by the utility and a tiny surcharge per kilowatt hour used goes into it, from the ratepayer, to pay the solar system owners for each kWh their systems produced.
My entire financial layout was paid for in just over five years. For the last two years I owned the building I made money off of the solar system.
Solar power is a wealth transfer from less wealthy ratepayers to more wealthy ratepayers. It’s a green grift at the user end. At the silicon mining end it’s an environmental contaminant. Don’t be led to believe otherwise.
And thank you, poor people, for being suckered into paying for the solar system I had. BTW I’m told it no longer works.
Vicious Troll spews:
Y’all libbies should look up Silicon Energy. This company started in Marysville and made, admittedly, gorgeous solar panels. Architects would use them to create energy-producing window shades, they were so pretty. I thought about it, but they were expensive, so I went with another brand that wasn’t pretty but was significantly cheaper, and hidden by the roof.
The company expanded to a second production site in Minnesota, with heavy subsidies both from WA and from MN. And then the panels started cracking, meaning they stopped working. And then the company went tits up. Hundreds and hundreds of consumers were left with unusable solar systems and no recourse.
Before it went tits up:
That last line turned out to be a lie.

MSM aren’t running banner headlines yet, because it’s not a story yet. So far, there’s this:
“Democratic lawmakers are renewing calls to expel any member of Congress implicated in the Jan. 6 riots at the Capitol following reporting that witnesses recently informed congressional investigators of their coordination with lawmakers.
“A Sunday story from Rolling Stone didn’t directly tie lawmakers to the violent assault, but two sources who spoke to the outlet instead detailed multiple meetings with members of Congress to coordinate contesting the election results and plan the rallies that preceded the attack. …
“The sources also told the magazine that Mark Meadows, former President Trump’s chief of staff, played a significant role in discussions regarding the protests ahead of Jan. 6.”

Republicans recruit these grievances as a means of training their violent, reactionary base upon targeted minorities of citizens.
These memes, and fears, and “dangers” are conjured up out of the ether in order to produce suppression and denial of civil rights in favor of a rapidly dwindling white, male, cis-gendered, Xtian “norm”.
It’s all Charlottesville. The intent is that while enough of a minority of suburban white women will “sympathize” with the fear or fake danger, at the same time the targeted minority will “pipe down” and go back to quietly giving in to the routine of being second class.
Desperately Poor Bobby isn’t trying to recruit lynch mobs to go hunting for queer and trans people because he wants to distract us. It just is what it is.
