Great way to max out the retirement. Plus ERT officers get bonus points on most advancement exams for having “tactical training and experience”.

It’s true. Absolutely. Maybe only part of the overall picture. But it remains true that Democrats form the political power base and leadership in many cities with appalling records of police abuse. We should be ashamed. I certainly am.
But I’ve also been very consistent in calling this out. And demanding that these political leaders mend their ways and stop catering to the fascist white supremacist authoritarians who run and staff major municipal law enforcement agencies.
This is part of the reason Hillary Clinton lost the states she could not afford to lose. Because of her long association with the betrayal of minority and low income urban communities popularized and promoted by her husband. Bill Clinton was the Democrat most instrumental in this transformation of American police into a militarized force of urban occupation and suppression. And just as the party backed and valorized him, so too did the party back and valorize this disgraceful abuse of its own base. As a Democrat, I have always been ashamed of Bill Clinton and the party for doing this.
But the fact remains they did it to win the votes of aging, non-college educated whites. They did it to appeal to Trumpalos and Proud Boys, and degenerate, retrograde, trailer trash revanchists determined to turn back civil rights. Clinton’s Third Way coalitions depended on duping working poor and minority communities into believing that in order to share in the promised economic boom they had to be willing to give up some of the ground they had fought so hard to win.
And the economic boom was indeed real. But of course, as always happens in these kinds of bargains, the racist white trash “centrists” were determined to take back everything. And the boom was not shared equally. So that even if people got ahead and made economic progress they had to do it in an environment where it could all be taken away in a second and they could find themselves dashed against the wheel of a criminal justice system designed to destroy them.
Democrats must never let it happen again. We must never let the mewling and pleading of so-called “centrists” beckon us into betraying the people who built our party in its modern form. Biden appears ready to move beyond that past and make amends. The vast majority of American Democratic voters are ready to come together behind Joe Biden to make that happen, even if a tiny handful of defeated Bernie Bros. like Shaun King are not.

An 82-year-old Trump supporter who was allegedly assaulted for holding a sign supporting President Donald Trump got a surprise call from the president’s son Friday during the Howie Carr Show on WBSM.
Charlie Chase was holding a Trump sign Tuesday in Fall River, Massachusetts when 27-year-old Aidan Courtright allegedly stopped his car, got out and walked toward Chase while screaming “Give me the (expletive) sign!” Providence Journal reported. Police said he then took the sign, ripped it in half and threw it down before assaulting Chase.
The suspect then grabbed Chase by his shirt, knocked off his hat and threw him down to the ground, according to Providence Journal. The suspect then kicked the victim in the ribs and legs before he drove away.

You’ve gotta admire the brazen lack of self-awareness of a prog mayor (ahem Jenny) to NOT protect their own city from riots, trash the President in the process, and then go running to the federal government for money. Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey has excelled at it though.
According to the Minneapolis Star Tribune, the damages are already at $55 million and climbing.
That’s not what FEMA is for, as evidenced by the fact that Maryland was denied such assistance by the Obama administration in 2015 after the Baltimore riots. These politicians sat idly by and let their cities be destroyed. They need to be the ones to pay for it. These people had ample opporutnity, including usage of the National Guard, to stop the rioting, burning of buildings, and looting. They instead chose to appease the mob for purely political reasons.
This is also the same Minneapolis that’s currently pledging to disband their police force. Putting money into such a city seems like a rather bad investment for the American taxpayers.
Had they done their best to stop this, it’d be one thing. You can’t blame a city for getting overwhelmed. But that didn’t happen here. Frey refused help, didn’t call in the National Guard for days, and pampered the rioters rhetorically. He’s responsible for this and he has to pay the price for it. Regular Americans who don’t support this kind of nonsense shouldn’t be forced to foot the bill for his incompetence.
