@1 Actually that is not the way it works. After all the UW does have an actual budget, and ultimately the state would pick this up directly or indirectly, same as if it was a judgment against the state highway patrol, parks, ect. We are a litigious society and it’s part and parcel part of the bill tax payers pick up. Now the lawsuits that the Attorney General has started and pursues against the Federal government is of course by choice, and I doubt the bill is a mere $127,000 which would pay for another assistant AG or two.
@2 Guess the dirty hippies should have sued, and in some cases they did successfully. And the Governor did not call out the National Guard on the student republicans in this situation which is what happened at Kent state and other college university campuses during those mentioned protests. That was the power of the state clearly interfering with speech, beyond just the Universities board and President, and in many cases the University President tried to persuade Governors to stand down the Guard.
