Dave Meinert is buying Mecca (second point). Just thought he could it ride out. Oh what’s a little rape and harassment? I mean, he only owns one restaurant, hasn’t he suffered enough? If anything, he’s the real victim of his repeated predatory behavior over many years. And I thought you were in favor of restorative justice, isn’t that where men don’t get punished in any way, and get to own another restaurant?

    A Chicago area militia argues with a citizen over a parking space and exercises his constitutional right to shoot. Sadly he’s poorly regulated and misses but does shoot a 16 year old bystander in a nearby car in the face.

    Just curious though. I was under the impression that now that “Trump has come” these kinds of coded, dog whistle signals are no longer needed. Why do you people remains so squeamish about that word you know you want to use? It isn’t as if anyone can stop you. Nor will using it in any way alter the larger public sense of exactly who you are. At least not as long as you persist in marching with Tiki Torches parades in defense of slavery shouting “Jews Will Not Replace Us”.

    Post @ 2 a story alleging (white) militia member mishandling a firearm and it turns out that it happened in Chicago’s South Side, that police know who did it, and that it happened within yards of the Major Taylor Trail, and yes, Roger Dumbfuck Rabbit, I think it is more likely that the shooter is black than white.

    So does Cz-252, now that he looked beyond the narrative and checked out some facts. He’s just too chickenshit to admit it.

    I used to race bikes at the Hellyer Park velodrome in San Jose, and there’s an east coast track bike facility called the Major Taylor velodrome. So I’ve know who Major Taylor was since the late 80’s. There’s also a Cascade club event with his name.

    I sincerely wish I knew what to tell Republicans like Teh Dumbfuck who are so obviously uncomfortable with the “new whiteness” at the heart and soul of their party.

    But I’m not sure I can really respect their useless efforts to stuff open displays of racism back under the polite veneer of “civility”. Partly because it really isn’t working with anyone outside of moderate partisans within the party. But mostly because it is counterproductive. The party’s own longitudinal polling is very clear on this.

    Over the last decade the party’s voters have skewed radically whiter, older, and less educated. Whether cause or effect, the result is a demographic of supporters who favor racism. That is to say they favor consideration of race in government policy in ways specifically intended to favor whites and/or disfavor non-whites. And moreover, they are increasingly comfortable with expressions of this kind of racial bias that include vulgarity, bigotry, and in some cases criminality and violence.

    Seeking to conceal this powerful trend beneath a polite veneer of racially coded language in keeping with GOP tradition is counterproductive because as the demographic has skewed increasingly less educated, the response to coded language and dog whistle messaging has grown increasingly impotent. Trump and his key campaign advisers in 2016 understood this very well. They knew that to rise above the crowded GOP primary field they would have to deliver messaging to their base voters largely stripped of nuance when it comes to race.

    Nationwide GOP political strategists understand that despite suffering catastrophic defeats in the 2018 mid terms, the GOP only trailed Democrats by about 1% in swing seats. That indicates that shifts in base turnout can provide the difference between winning and losing for the GOP in both Congress and in the electoral college. But shifting base turnout in the GOP now largely depends upon appealing to this old, white, uneducated, racist demographic. If you are a Republican and want them to come out for you you’d damn well better don that white sheet. These people have options.

    They can always go arm-fishing instead.

    Blaming it on Dems isn’t going to be any more effective than running from it. To win, you’ll have to embrace it and own it. And understand that, to an every increasing extent, Democrats will be trying to hold you to that.

    Turnout will be up, probably by a lot. 2018 turnout grew a lot. And current polling trends indicate large increases in turnout for next year. Once again, from your own GOP longitudinal polling, election interest in May of 2019 (69%) is closer to the level of interest for October of a general election year than an off year. But what remains to be seen is who will win that turnout contest in the places that will determine the makeup of the next Congress and the electoral college.

    Soothing the butt-hurt feels of the ownership class of Chardonnay Republicans wont get you there. You’re going to have to fill airplane hangers full of these guys. Ponderous lecturing about the “maker class” and “personal responsibility” wont get it done.

    Precisely as predicted and exactly on time the GOP has terminated all US aid targeted to combat criminal gang violence in the Northern Triangle of Central American and stem the tide of refugees moving north. Another series of waves of desperate migrants fleeing death and human trafficking will now be forced northward into Mexico and onward toward the US. By design. To create an artificial US made crisis within Mexico and along our border.

    This may sound racist but it’s not intended to be – but I think slavery is to blame for a lot of this Country’s problems. The slave owners should take a lot of the blame here. They enslaved a group of people and left them uneducated and without fair compensation for the profits that enriched their lives. They created a mass of people that contribute to the ills of this Country. I am kind of against reparations in then sense of just an “entitlement” kind of give back, but maybe it is warranted and could benefit this Country as a whole. Instead of just handing money out to individuals, I’d like to see monies set aside for educating and housing and embrtterment causes, directed to the African American Communities.

    I think if you just hand some people money, they’ll not necessarily do the right think with that money, it’s human nature to spend unwisely especially if you are put in a position of not making the best choices. I think if you put it towards housing, boys and girls clubs, youth athletic clubs, food, arts programs, and recreational camps, then it would help the targeted individuals as well as this Country as a whole.

    Sure they’re are bigger issues that tend to keep people down based on their own personal decisions, such as drugs and criminal activity, and we will always have that (statement not just geared towards low income inner city youth and young adults but this Country as a whole), but overall you can change a community, along with personal responsibility and accountability. We haven’t done enough just handing out food stamps and providing mass housing projects.

    Previous generations of slave owners created this problem and nobody has tried to fix it.

    Maybe a hybrid scheme of reparations is the answer.
