– Jim McDermott’s editorial in The Hill: VA needs more primary care doctors
– I didn’t know anything about the Spokane sit-lie ordinance before this piece.
– The long history of hating and loving Boeing
– There are legit criticisms of Democrats, but hey lets vote for Rand Paul isn’t the answer to those criticisms.
– I only tweet emergencies. I guess I’ll have to change up my Twitter strategy.

Sit-lie ordinances are a back-door attempt to resurrect the old-time vagrancy laws that SCOTUS declared unconstitutional years ago. Basically, the conservatives who support these laws want to criminalize poverty and homelessness, because they’re cold-hearted evil bastards.

So who to vote for…
How about not for any of the RETHUG CANDIDATES indorsed by the RETHUG PARTY.

For all the noise they make about illegal immigration, House Republicans adjourned today by doing NOTHING about the immigration crisis on our southern border.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: I think they just like to hear themselves talk. This is the same bunch that voted last week to give $357 billion of tax breaks to business, with no way to pay for it. Today, they wouldn’t pass their own $657 million immigration bill. They talk about building a wall on our southern border; but with what money? They talk about beefing up border enforcement; but with what money? They just refused to spend a dime on enforcing our immigration laws. Republicans are nothing but cheap talk.

Stupid Bosses Dep’t
Sometimes it’s hard to tell which is worse, working for a stupid boss or being unemployed. In Tim Torkildson’s case, the former led to the latter.
“After publishing a blog post about homophones, Torkildson was fired by his boss, Nomen owner Clarke Woodger, in mid-July, reports the Salt Lake Tribune. According to Torkildson, Woodger told him, ‘Now our school is going to be associated with homosexuality.’ …
“Before we move on, it’s important to note that homophones are words that are pronounced similarly but are different in meaning, origin or spelling. Examples are ‘to,’ ‘too’ and ‘two,’ or ‘intense’ and ‘intents.’ Homophones have nothing to do with gays or any sort of “agenda.'”
Woodger apparently knows this, but objected to Torkildson’s blog post anyway, on the grounds that “students at Nomen are from 58 countries around the world and typically know only a basic level of English. He apparently thought a blog about homophones could be confusing or offensive. ‘People at this level of English,’ Woodger told the publication, ‘may see the ‘homo’ side and think it has something to do with gay sex.'”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: You can contact the employer, Nomen Global Language School, and tell them what you think of this at admissions@globalnomen.com.

Here’s the text of the email I sent to Nomen Global:
Gentlemen: After reading a news story about your company’s termination of Mr. Torkildson for writing a blog post about homophones, I want to thank you for striking a blow on behalf of stupidity and ignorance, for those of us who are tired of living in a rational world. Sincerely, [name]

Meanwhile the religion of peace has blown an estimated $2,000,000,000 on tunnels. That money could have uplifted their citizenry. http://www.timesofisrael.com/a.....ized-gaza/
Nuthin yet from the HA DUMMOCRETIN moronic class regarding where all the $BILLIONS of aid to the Palestinians go over the years.
Did you watch the videos of Hamas using children as human shields yesterday? No? Wasn’t on left wrong sites?

@6 Weren’t you bitching about our own country’s “weak” leadership just a few days ago? Your preferences seem selective.

Arizona’s prison system revealed today that a condemned prisoner who took nearly two hours to die last week was given 15 lethal doses of the execution drugs.
A California anesthesiologist told the Associated Press the inmate received 325 times the dosage of the two drugs normally used to sedate patients for surgery.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: This reminds me of those movie scenes where a dead guy in the morgue suddenly sits up and scares the shit out of the night watchman.

When my time comes, I hope I go easier than that. And I don’t want Jan Brewer dancing on my grave like she did with this guy. She shouldn’t get smug, because she’s no spring chicken herself, and someday –maybe sooner than she thinks — she’ll be fertilizing the granite garden with the rest of us.

Hmmm, this may go a long way toward explaining why Arizona has so much trouble when the state kills people.
“In his testimony, Doerhoff said his dyslexia was responsible for his jumbled record-keeping and he admitted that it caused him to mix up numbers when working with drug dosages. A federal judge was so horrified by Doerhoff’s description of his work mixing up drugs and improvising on the state lethal injection protocol that he prohibited Doerhoff from ever participating in another Missouri execution. But that didn’t put Doerhoff out of the execution business. A few months later, Arizona’s corrections chief, Dora Schriro—who had headed Missouri’s corrections department when it first hired Doerhoff—tapped him to oversee executions in Arizona.”
