The next Rwandan type crisis will likely be sparked by apps and bot-nets, with the machetes delivered by Amazon drone. And democratically elected governments are already being held hostage by privately controlled technology companies. Why hire multi-million dollar consultants to pay hundreds of millions of dollars in bribes when you can get the same results out of an apartment building filled with borscht-fueled, pimply script kiddies.

Most of this was probably planned to some extent.

But they were certainly planning on following through with Rudy’s Wild Ride, perhaps hoping to keep this all under wraps until next summer. Learning about the WB complaint in early August would have forced them to revise all that. But they still see this as operational ratfuckery precisely on a par with Buttery Males/BENGHAAAZEEEEEEEE!! etc.
So even as they appear to be lashing out wildly and possibly turning on each other, bear in mind that some kind of planning went into all this. So, for example, when you read in Politico that Rudy is telling them “exclusively!!!” that this all started with a confidential “tip” from a highly qualified and deeply trusted “private investigator”, well guess what? That’s bullshit.
This started just like the other one, with a phony book deal set up for Peter Schweizer by Steve Bannon paid for by the Mercers. Only this time instead of Clinton Cash it’s Secret Empires. And the big difference is that this time, rather than contracting to have the NYT and WaPo tease the bullshit into the public consciousness Bannon figured why not use the power of the office. Enter Rudy, and the rest as they say, is soon to be history.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, now a 2020 Democratic presidential contender, has locked into a specific story about the controversy in Ukraine.
He insists that, in spring 2016, he strong-armed Ukraine to fire its chief prosecutor solely because Biden believed that official was corrupt and inept, not because the Ukrainian was investigating a natural gas company, Burisma Holdings, that hired Biden’s son, Hunter, into a lucrative job.
There’s just one problem.
Hundreds of pages of never-released memos and documents — many from inside the American team helping Burisma to stave off its legal troubles — conflict with Biden’s narrative.
And they raise the troubling prospect that U.S. officials may have painted a false picture in Ukraine that helped ease Burisma’s legal troubles and stop prosecutors’ plans to interview Hunter Biden during the 2016 U.S. presidential election.
For instance, Burisma’s American legal representatives met with Ukrainian officials just days after Biden forced the firing of the country’s chief prosecutor and offered “an apology for dissemination of false information by U.S. representatives and public figures” about the Ukrainian prosecutors, according to the Ukrainian government’s official memo of the meeting. The agency puts out a weekly memo of all items taken up by the commission. It’s available online. It is essentially a summary of all files that are publicly available elsewhere through the FEC if one really cared to dig hard enough.
This week an item was to appear “Draft Interpretive Rule Concerning Prohibited Activities Involving Foreign Nationals”
GOP Commission member Caroline Hunter objected to including that bit of business (unusual since the weekly brief is ALL business that came before them in the week) so she took the really unprecedented step of stopping the release of the summary memo of ALL business on the FEC.GOV website. In the absence of a working, full membership commission she can do that.
Well FEC Commissioner Ellen Weintraub spent her workday creating a twitter stream of 55 entries including everything that should have been in the weekly summary with links to the original documents that can be found on the FEC Website. It’s information that should be really easy for the public (god have mercy on your soul if you read this stuff for fun) and the press to peruse via the weekly summary.

Not a single bit of this is disputed by the Administration. In fact they have confirmed these statements.
But because the whistle blower may have used second hand information as the basis of the report, none of the above is true.
