You have got to face it.
This is what we pay them to do. And they know it. And they know how wrong it is. That’s why they drink, beat their wives, engage in sickening gallows humor, fuck their pets, and off themselves at such alarming rates. This is who police are. Because it is consistently what we ask them to be.
Like Trumpism in the GOP, this isn’t some new thing. This has been the reality of police work in poor communities in America for over a generation now. And like the rabid white nationalism and authoritarianism in the GOP that has been there for decades, we just never saw it quite so clearly until now.
Americans really have no sincere desire to debate the proper role of police in society. That role, as these people experienced it, has now become encoded into our culture in ways that will require generations in order to reform. Better that we should simply reduce their overall numbers in order to reduce the terror and carnage they inflict on our communities.

The Spanish-American War, World War I, World War II, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War, the invasion of Iraq, Afghanistan – all built on lies told by the government for the benefit of high rollers in government.

I think any citizen should have the right to just murder anyone they want (literally and figuratively) – why not The Hump himself said it – he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and get away with it….and it’s completely true.
