Queen YLB’s fave senator, the one undergoing his second federal corruption investigation, is in the news yet again today.

Criminal investigation into Sen. Bob Menendez expands with new subpoenas

The newly issued subpoenas — including the one delivered to Sacco — are unrelated to any allegations involving the meat company and Menendez, the two sources said.

Follow along here: If this round of subpoenas is unrelated to the investigation that began last Fall but still involves Menendez, it would indicate that a third investigation of this corrupt Democrat POS is beginning.

Queen YLB continues to maintain that, like OJ Simpson, Menendez is innocent.

    Basic truth in advertising.

Whenever anyone votes for any Republican anywhere this is what they are voting for:

    https://www.nola.com/news/healthcare_hospitals/no-rape-incest-exceptions-to-abortion-ban-state-house-says/article_9b3b2e2e-ef6b-11ed-a163-afd00590b304.html

Total abortion bans so sweeping that they require the pre-teen, adolescent child victim of incest rape to carry her father’s rape-baby for nine months and deliver it to him, presumably to be raped.

Not theoretical folks. This is an actual scenario the Republicans debated and concluded was the right thing to do.

I don’t know why timing works the way it does. It’s weird.
But it’s like you are at the movie theater and while buying tickets you think you see a neighbor in the line, but you aren’t sure so you don’t say anything then. Then later while you are grabbing some extra napkins for the popcorn you see them in the concession line and you make brief eye contact but you still don’t say anything, at least not right away because it’s now their turn to order snacks and whatever, and then too much time has passed and somehow saying something now, after waiting, would be “weird” and feel awkward.

So the moment passes and you’ve seen each other and you both know it but you haven’t acknowledged it and now you can’t.

I feel like it’s like this for Republicans and what happened to them on Wednesday night.

I think they waited too long. Now they can’t say anything.
Even our very own trolls have remained pointedly mute about that shit-show. And now they really can’t say anything. It wouldn’t help if they did. And it would be weird.

So they are stuck with it, as it is, and what it means. The ratings were either good or terrible depending on what you compare it to. But the awareness of it, the public conversation about it, and the impact that is will have on the Republican primary electorate is probably profound. The campaigns hoping to challenge Trump for the nomination, and every other Republican who would prefer a different nominee, have now let this moment pass. And with it they pass on the basic notion of challenging his most outrageous lies.

They’ve now conceded this ground to him: “his re-election was stolen”; the Jan 6 sedition conspiracy is “fake”; what happened that day was “a beautiful thing” expressing “an outpouring of love”; the U.S. should abandon Ukraine and Europe to Putin; debt default “would be good”; a president has “the right” to steal anything he wants; “the women lie”; and of course that his presidency was “the greatest success in history”.

Aside from how problematic all these extreme positions are going to be with swing voters the party really, really needs, the even bigger problem is how much this narrows the lane for challengers to Trump. By allowing his outrageous lies to define the terms of debate (a point that will not be lost on Trump) it leaves them with few good avenues for contrasting themselves as alternatives to Trump.

It’s weird that none of them are saying anything. But it really does seem like the kind of weird paralysis of timing I describe above. They all seem to stay silent at first, apparently waiting to see what happens. And then too much time has passed and it’s too late.

Whatever explains this silence, let’s just be clear about it one more time: this is a choice Republicans are making here. A cowardly one, for sure. But a choice just the same. Let him go. Let him say whatever. But he isn’t going away. And ignoring him only empowers him and his lies and the hold they have and will continue to have over Republicans. They are choosing to do this to themselves.

We have the greatest health care system in the world. All the jobs are moving to Texas because of our low taxes and vey low regulations.

Hope your kid doesn’t get sick, though. Survey release 5/11/2023

University of Texas Tyler (Smith County, 69% Trump 2020, Northeast Texas all counties are GOP Safe Seats)

In Northeast Texas, the mortality of pediatric patients is nearly 2.5 times higher than the national average.
    …
According to the Pediatric Health Status Report:

-Northeast Texas had higher rates of children living in poverty and food insecurity, preterm births and teen births than both the state and national averages.
-Northeast Texas children are more than twice as likely to be uninsured as their national counterparts.
-Twenty-four counties don’t have a board-certified pediatrician, which means that over 105,000 children in the region don’t have access to a pediatrician in their county.
-In the entire 42-county region, there are no pediatric intensive care beds.

Because of these shortages, families often must seek care far from home, meaning 58.4% of Northeast Texas pediatric patients have to drive more than 80 miles to receive specialty pediatric care.

In 2022, according to data from UT Health East Texas and CHRISTUS Trinity Mother Frances in Tyler, these hospitals transferred 938 children to hospitals outside of the region because they lacked either the necessary subspecialist, intensive care or monitoring capabilities.

42 Counties without any sort of Pediatric ICU seems like a lot. According to the Kaiser Family Foundation in 2022 Texas was 47th in the nation for per capita Health Care Spending.

But as long as there are no Drag shows or library books about Gays or Immigrants the kids are safe and secure.

Under Republican Governor Ron DeSantis, the state has made an effort to clamp down on what he calls “woke indoctrination,” mostly regarding race and gender. The textbooks’ rejection is the latest example of how that drive is affecting Jewish topics as well.

One of this year’s rejected Holocaust textbooks was called “Modern Genocides,” and the other was an online learning course titled “History of the Holocaust.” Both were intended for high school students.

According to the Kaiser Family Foundation in 2022 Texas was 47th in the nation for per capita Health Care Spending.

More people employed and higher health care insurance paid by the employed means less money has to be spent by the government.

Just for family coverage in Texas, we pay an annual average of $6,950 in premiums. That’s the 9th highest state cost in the country and nearly $1,000 more than the average of $5,978.

42 Counties without any sort of Pediatric ICU seems like a lot.

Four of the 10 largest childrens’ hospitals in the US are in Texas. Including #1 and #3.

    1. Texas Children’s Hospital – 973 beds
The Texas Children’s Hospital, located on the Texas Medical Center campus in Houston, is the biggest children’s hospital in the US, with 973 beds.
    3. Children’s Hospital of San Antonio – 652 beds
The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio, located in downtown San Antonio, Texas, is a multi-speciality paediatric hospital having 652 beds.
    8. Children’s Medical Center Dallas – 490 beds
The 490-bed Children’s Medical Center Dallas is the main hospital campus of Children’s Health, a leading paediatric health system based in North Texas.
    10. Cook Children’s Medical Center – 443 beds
The Cook Children’s Medical Center is a 443-bed paediatric hospital in Fort Worth, Texas.

It is the flagship campus of Cook Children’s Health Care System, a non-profit health system with more than 60 primary, speciality and urgent care locations throughout Texas.

Dallas and Fort Worth are in “north Texas”.

Worth noting this is the first Migrant Child death during the Biden administration. 2019 alone saw 5. Carlos Gregorio Hernandez Vasquez died in may 2019 (Pre Covid)

42 Counties without any sort of Pediatric ICU seems like a lot.

There are 254 counties in the state of Texas. More than half of them have fewer than 20,000 residents. Nearly 80% of them have fewer than 100,000 residents.

There is an incredible amount of expense and expertise in a pediatric ICU. This requires a certain critical mass of residents to keep it sufficiently busy that it can cover part of the expense.

Amarillo is in way-north Texas. It’s a shorter trip from Amarillo to Oklahoma City or to Albuquerque than it is from Amarillo to Dallas/Fort Worth. I suspect that the hospitals in small counties in north Texas are aware of this.

    Houston is not North Texas

Dallas is NOT North East Texas.

Northeast Texas is a known geographic area that does not include Dallas mostly because Dallas considers itself a Thriving Desirable Metropolis whereas North East Texas is largely rural and poor. Folks from Dallas don’t take the Suburban east on I-30 past Lake Hubbard. Only the poors go there. Fort Worth if you bother to pull out a map is WEST of Dallas.

Also, bragging that insurance in TEXAS is more expensive than in other parts of the country is not the flex you think it is.

Why didn’t you want to link again?

    KXAN
Health insurance costs keep rising in Texas — here’s why

Insurance costs keep going up, and Texans are often paying more than people in other states.

The findings come from a new report from The Commonwealth Fund, which supports independent research on health care issues.

It found Texans spent more than 14.2% of the median income on premium contributions and deductibles. That added up to $9,311 in 2020.

In 2010, health insurance made up 12.7% of Texans’ median income.

“Texans are doubly disadvantaged. They’re paying more on average for their premiums and deductibles, and also have just lower median incomes on average,” said The Commonwealth Fund Vice President Sara Collins.

If only there was some way you could provide a large pool of funding to pay for Hospitals and Healthcare so that individual families could catch a break on their out of pocket expenses…..

Any Uncompensated care that takes place in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Louisiana are the responsibility of THEIR Medicaid programs. Can I get a Compassionate Conservative AMEN!

HA Commenting Policy

It may be hard to believe from the vile nature of the threads, but yes, we have a commenting policy. Comments containing libel, copyright violations, spam, blatant sock puppetry, and deliberate off-topic trolling are all strictly prohibited, and may be deleted on an entirely arbitrary, sporadic, and selective basis. And repeat offenders may be banned! This is my blog. Life isn’t fair.
