I must admit I now hate having to run any Zoom meeting with anyone over 70. It can be painful.
Recently hosted a monthly Zoom meeting for a non-profit board I served on in which some members were hot about a BLM statement and forming a sub-committee. Prior coms and outreach for a week trying to help members understand how to join and clearly pointing out that everyone’s mic will be muted initially by default. Also went over some basic ground rules and etiquette for muting your own mic so that the meeting is not disrupted by your barking dog or the sound of your fucking smoothie blender.
One, shall we say “more traditional”, board member left his mic muted the entire meeting, including apparently during the entire discussion of a BLM statement and sub-committee. Ignored the icon indicating his mic was muted. Ignored the three verbal reminders I gave at each point when opening up the meeting to discussion to unmute before speaking, including pointing out the mic icon and its location. Obviously ignored all the opportunities I offered for tutorials and prep.
Did not stop him from proceeding to send a series of entirely false and inflammatory emails to the executive committee of the board demanding that I be fired (I am of course a volunteer) for deliberately preventing him from commenting by muting his mic. Ignored all my follow up emails.
Guess what? Dude’s a big Republican donor. Outspoken Trumpalo. Big surprise.

Remember to unmute your mic if you wish to be heard.
Try to remember to mute your mic otherwise to prevent disruption.
Elevate your notebook or tablet to more or less eye level for best appearance.
Avoid strong back lighting. (We don’t care if you are at your beach house.)
If your desktop lacks a camera consider buying one (They’re cheap). Zoom on mobile phones can be crap, especially if you are too fucking dumb to control switching from mobile data to WiFi.
A halfway decent WiFi AP goes a long way. Believe it or not the AP supplied by your ISP as part of your shitty closet combination router is usually hot garbage. Consider disabling it and installing a good AP installed in a good location (high up, centrally located). I’m no expert but I’ve had nothing but good experiences with products from Ubiquiti Networks.

Chinese Communist Party-run media outlet Global Times insisted that if Democratic Presidential candidate Joe Biden wins the upcoming election the country would enjoy a “smoother” relationship and “more effective communication” with the former veep.
The article, entitled “Biden ‘Smoother’ to Deal With,” follows a recent National Counterintelligence and Security Center (NCSC) report designating China as backing Biden, already boasting a notoriously soft track record on dealing with the country.
And Global Times, a mouthpiece for the Chinese Communist Party identified as a “foreign mission” by the Trump administration, reiterated the sentiment in over 1,000-word puff piece on the candidate. The article, for example, extolled the Democratic National Convention as “showing unity,” praised Biden as “more decent” than President Trump, and even echoed Biden’s talking points while slamming President Trump’s “failed handling of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Democrats failed to condemn recent political violence and rioting across the nation, as they avoided the topic throughout the four days of the Democratic National Convention.
Former Vice President Joe Biden never mentioned the riots during his speech accepting the Democratic Party’s nomination for president on Thursday evening. Nor did any other speaker.
Instead, Democrats talked about “peaceful protests” and claimed, falsely, that President Donald Trump had used “tear gas” to disperse demonstrators near the White House.
The only time violence was mentioned was in connection with riots in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017 — with Biden repeating the Charlottesville “very fine people” hoax.

Also, children like Doctor Dumbfuck can’t distinguish between intentional fraud and inadvertent mistakes. There’s no such thing as a perfect error-free election when tens or hundreds of thousands of ballots must be handled and counted. Many of the errors that do occur are caused by the voters themselves, such as stray marks on ballots. Ballots also get rips and tears in mechanical counting machines.
I’ve been involved in enough elections as an observer, pollworker, or voting rights attorney to have seen this with my own eyes. I doubt that Doctor Dumbfuck ever participated in any election in his life beyond going to the polls, voting, and leaving. He doesn’t strike me as the kind who volunteers for civic duty or service. He’s too busy dodging taxes to be bothered with that.

This is the story that keeps on giving. It really doesn’t matter anymore if the public sees the returns before November. Fighting all the way to the bitter end to hide something is just as damning. Possibly more so. Clearly there is something there Donald doesn’t want out. But again, it doesn’t matter. Going through this much effort to not be transparent just lets everyone assume whatever their wildest dreams about it are true. If he was on the level he’d just release it and be done.
But he can’t.
It’s his emails. It’s Huma’s laptop. The next hearing would be two months before election day. Thursday, Nominating convention ends and hoping for a bump in the polls. The following Tuesday coverage will be dominated by if he gets to hide his returns or if ANOTHER court says “Turn it over.” The convention Honeymoon lasts a weekend.
