    I’m shocked that a global software company far more of whose potential customers live in China than the US would seek partnerships with Chinese civilian engineers and bypass costly, bureacratic, low bidder contracts with the Pentagon.

    Probably the only thing that could be worse would be to work hand in glove with huge teams of Russian spies to give them Syria in exchange for an election upset.

    No, really. You did! Republican hypocrisy about spending is now settled public understanding. Republicans don’t care about deficits. Bush said so. Rove said so. Trump said so. And Ryan/McConnell make believers out of us all. It is a settled fact that Republicans are more likely to explode deficits and wreck the economy than Democrats. So Democrats have absolutely nothing to lose by embracing and promoting wildly popular government spending proposals like Medicare-for-all.

    @13 I’m a senior on Medicare, and I don’t object to Medicare-for-all, nor am I worried about being ripped off by anything the Democrats are proposing.

    Obviously, expanded Medicare would be paid for by new beneficiaries paying into the system, but in the bigger picture, it simply replaces private management of premium dollars (which takes 28% off the top for administrative costs) with government administration of the same dollars (with administrative costs of about 1.5%).

    The huge savings in administrative costs would pay for more and better health care, or lower premiums for everyone, or a combination of both. It’s an idea that makes perfect sense.

    it helps to keep in mind that the exclusion from taxable income enjoyed by employer provided, for-profit health insurance costs the U.S. Treasury $250 billion every year. The exclusion is regressive as fuck. Average filers benefit to the tune of less than $1700, while those with incomes in excess of $200k enjoy a more than $5000 tax break. It totally fucks over younger workers by suppressing their wages in exchange for “benefits” they seldom use, reducing their ability to save or pay off student debts. It distorts health care markets by completely isolating those who pay premiums from those who seek services.

    Only beer drunk, sister fucking, child molesters who lust after farm animals and ritually murder family pets support a system as stupid as our for-profit, employer provided health insurance cluster fuck. In fact, even most meatbag Trump voters support single payer.

    @8 The attorneys should be inviting the army and other services to the party. This is a clear leadership issue, or lack of leadership that goes all the way up the chain to the joint chiefs who are responsible for recruitment and retention. The recruitment of individuals wishing to become US citizens has been a basic recruitment tool used for decades if not all the way back to the Revolution or at least the War of 1812. If for no other reason than if you go to war somewhere you suddenly need people who speak the language and understand the culture. The joint chiefs have a leadership failure here, they can and should buck this, or what are they getting out of it.

    @33 You obviously are not familiar with the joint chiefs or that the US military is the most progressive most successful desegregated work force in the United States. than you Harry Truman. I simply stated there is a lack of leadership that goes up to the joint chiefs, and they should be having a god awful fight with the civilian leadership, and playing the game, and maybe even telling an administration the chiefs will resign over this policy. As it is they have an obvious card they can play in every one of these cases, and extend these individuals active duty to 6 years in order to ensure these folks meet their obligations.
