As another killer hurricane was set to slam the Gulf Coast, Bay State Congressman Barney Frank signed onto a bill that would block federal aid to states without plans to evacuate pets. The Pets Evacuation and Transportation Standards Act filed Thursday by Frank and four other congressmen would require states to submit plans to rescue animals or risk losing federal dollars for disaster preparedness.

BILL FRIST: INSIDER TRADING AND LIES
A few days ago, news media reported that GOP Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist (a silver spooner if there ever was one) dumped millions of dollars worth of stock in his family’s corporation shortly before the stock plunged.
Frist has claimed all along that his stock was in a blind trust.
But today, the Associated Press reports that Frist “was updated” about his blind trust investments, including “two weeks before he publicly denied any knowledge of what was in the accounts, documents show.” The updates, AP says, included stock transactions involving the Frist family’s hospital company.
Will Bill Frist end up in a penguin suit like Martha Stewart? Don’t count on it. Under the Bush administration, there’s no accountability for anything — principles of Christian forgiveness apply — but only when the criminals are Republicans! If Rove and Frist were Democrats they would be frog-marched in shackles down Pennsylvania Avenue.
Maybe we should live-trap Righton and ship him to Iraq where he can put his patriotism in action as some grunt outfit’s mascot. Hey Righton — can you say “woof!”?

The Associated Press reported today that “tens of thousands” of anti-war demonstrators showed up in Washington, D.C., but despite vows by Free Republic and other right-wing agitators to oppose the protestors only 150 counter-demonstrators showed up.
AP also noted the anti-war crowd included people with a variety of political beliefs and many Republicans.
Looks like the warmongers aren’t very popular, huh? The Freeper movement is going down the tubes — even the KKK and Nazis can get 150 people.

What “free pass?” Every time I see a news report about a teacher molesting students, the teacher is being hauled before a judge in handcuffs and orange jumpsuit.
If Republicans ran this state, they only thing they would do to the teacher is haul him before a religious tribunal for using a condom.

The Associated Press reported today that “tens of thousands” of anti-war demonstrators showed up in Washington, D.C., but despite vows by Free Republic and other right-wing agitators to oppose the protestors only 150 counter-demonstrators showed up.
AP also noted the anti-war crowd included people with a variety of political beliefs and many Republicans.

After five days managing near-riots, medical horrors and unspeakable living conditions inside the Superdome, Louisiana National Guard Col. Thomas Beron prepared to hand over the dead to representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency.
Following days of internationally reported killings, rapes and gang violence inside the Dome, the doctor from FEMA – Beron doesn’t remember his name – came prepared for a grisly scene: He brought a refrigerated 18-wheeler and three doctors to process bodies.
“I’ve got a report of 200 bodies in the Dome,” Beron recalls the doctor saying.
The real total was six, Beron said.
Of those, four died of natural causes, one overdosed and another jumped to his death in an apparent suicide, said Beron, who personally oversaw the turning over of bodies from a Dome freezer, where they lay atop melting bags of ice. State health department officials in charge of body recovery put the official death count at the Dome at 10, but Beron said the other four bodies were found in the street near the Dome, not inside it. Both sources said no one had been killed inside.
