Well yeah but Pete is also on tape saying some problematic stuff about black people.
And what exactly did he say?
Who would know better about being discriminated against as a minority? The gay guy or the white guy or the white woman?

Excellent question.
I find myself leaning toward the people who were rounded up to be branded like cattle and then bred, chained, and whipped in slavery for 1200 generations.
But maybe that’s too simplistic?
Where’s Jordan Peterson when we really need him.

Exactly….so vote for the Hump over Mayor Pete, should the Mayor become the nominee.
Based on the suggestion above – I would think that the question last night regarding beating The Hump and having to do so with the African American vote is pretty stupid, when the alternative is to have The Hump as President.
And what does that say about “diehard Trump supporters” like bot-farm that, having apparently restored all the COAL JERBS and completed WALLLLL!!!, they are now preparing to wage their next imaginary war on dish spots.

@godwinhaspews:
We’ve had a black man as president. This minority group is ~ 12-13% of the US population.
We haven’t had a woman as president. This demographic group is 50% of the US population and a majority of those who vote.
We haven’t had an admittedly gay man as president. The LGBT clan is, what, 10% of the US population?
Any real discussion of electing as president someone from a previously unrepresented group really doesn’t go past electing a woman. Just not Hillary or Warren, please. Let’s elect an honest one.

Allergan up from around $156 in mid-August to $193.91 today.
Mylan up from around $17 in early November to $22.24 today.
And then there’s MNK, which sank like a stone and hasn’t recovered.
No point to this, just some observations.
11
WTF!?spews:
Just last week, Oliver Davis, of South Bend’s Common Council, an African American lawmaker with one of the longest tenures on the city’s legislative body, talked to Politico about Buttigieg. The mayor did not meet with Davis or ask for his support before hitting the campaign trail. Nor did he speak with the three other black lawmakers on the council.
Did he speak to any of the members, like the other non black members. So the guy didn’t think to reach out because of his inexperience. Did other Dem candidates do something similar? Did Steyer reach out to any African Americans before contemplating to run?
As Trip Gabriel of The New York Times and others have pointed out, Buttigieg’s sexual orientation and marital status is a deal-breaker for some older, conservative black churchgoers. (It’s also a deal-breaker for many older, conservative white churchgoers.) It’s a strange shade of denial to pretend that his sexual orientation won’t also be a problem for other African Americans who may be younger and less religious.
yeah those white ones are usually Republicans. And the black voters are Democrats – no surprise with the white homophobes….and no surprise with the black homophobes, young or old.

Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
More than 1 year ago, back when “diehard Trump supporters” like bot-farm were still counting on the Democratic primary contest to be a rugby scrum of pink pussy hats, Angela Davis afros, and chants of Burn, baby burn!, the both-siderist media gaslighters they depend on were still predicting that the GangRape nomination would produce a RED WAVE. And believe it or not, that Michael Avenatti would shape the primary debates: https://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2018/09/14/michael-avenatti-2020-democratic-primary-219910
He was re-arrested yesterday.
So instead, since one after another of the debates have stuck to kitchen table issues and conformed to established political norms, “diehard Trump supporters” like bot-farm and media gaslighters have had to turn to Tulsi and Klobuchar rants.
While the RapeFantasy president they support blames it all on shower heads.
We could never, ever, ever, possibly do universal health care.
Something fifteen of the other G20 economies do with ease, would be a post-apocalyptic nightmare for us in the United States.

“Let’s elect an honest one.”
So what’s your definition of “honest” these days, dumbfuck? Less than 20,000 lies being told to America’s citizens? If so, you might want to consider bumping that up to 30,000.
15
Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
8,
Self-confessed “diehard Trump supporter” sez some stupid fake shit about honesty.
So, which one did it vote for in 2016:
The GOP nominee who confessed to a lengthy history of violent sexual assaults against his terrified female employees?
Of the GOP nominee who confessed to fabricating fantastic false claims about a history of violent sexual assaults in order to impress media nobodies?
9,
That’s his unique way of signifying tribal affiliation.
One thing we can say with confidence is that once you get past all the bigotry, the mewling rank-and-file of GOP voters and “diehard Trump supporters” will consistently vote against their own self-interest.

@8 I’ll take Murkowski or Collins over Trump, if your party is willing.
From my point of view, neither is ideal, but neither is a dog and I’d take any dog from my local pound over the individual your party actually elected president.
Which says something about your party and its voters, including you. Even your horse laughs at you.
The GOP would love to use literacy tests to eliminate black voters. They don’t dare use competency tests, because that would eliminate their voters.

Callback.
Susan Collins is going to agonize over her decision and do exactly what Mitch tells her to do.
Susan on Parnas documents that include the possibility of assassinating a U.S Ambassador:
“I wonder why the House did not put that into the record and it’s only now being revealed.” Told it was just turned over, she says: “well doesn’t that suggest that the House did an incomplete job then?”
30
Roger Rabbitspews:
@15 So far they haven’t even made a parking ticket stick, and how many millions of taxpayer dollars did they spend?
31
Roger Rabbitspews:
@17 I wonder how many voters out there (I mean, besides you) actually care about one man fucking another man in the ass, as long as it isn’t their ass?
I suspect most voters have bigger fish to fry than that.
You, of course, do not — being who you are.
32
Roger Rabbitspews:
@21 “Every man who runs for president is sexist if there’s also a woman in the race.”
Not really. It takes work. And it’s about the only real work Trump ever did in his life. You shill for him anyway, because you empathize with what he is.
33
Roger Rabbitspews:
@29 “well doesn’t that suggest that the House did an incomplete job then?”
Absolutely — it suggests the House didn’t prosecute enough people for contempt of its subpoenas. We can assume Pelosi et al. won’t make that mistake next time. And there will be a next time if this rogue president isn’t removed from office, and especially if he succeeds in cheating and smearing his way to re-election.
It also suggests Susan Collins is toilet paper for Mitch McConnell’s ass. Maine voters might take an interest in that come November.
34
Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
Are we all clear on this now?
For Every Republican You Know it is now an established norm that their political leadership will routinely interact and socialize with criminals who openly plot the assassination of high ranking US officials.
That’s pretty devastating, if you think about it.
That Republicans have no other choice at this point but to pretend that the Parnas/Hyde/Giuliani interactions are normal and unremarkable is a indelible feature of the ride-or-die Trumpism they’ve all signed up for. But normalizing the discussion of a hit on a US Ambassador is the kind of thing that results in permanent change of ideology and character.
This is Every Republican You Know now.
And perhaps the most amazing aspect of this is how this incremental creep of degradation maintains a steady pace. Because never-Trump Republicans are so unwilling to offer any criticism of Republican Trumpers, there are really no brakes on this disaster. Let’s face it, one way or another Trump is probably clinically mentally ill. So the blame for this catastrophe really lies with the tens of thousands of leading Republican officials, donors, operatives and supporters who have all signed on to back Trump no matter what. Never Trumpers who stand to one side while their own house is burning, surrounding the fire engine but refusing to pump, are no less responsible for the resulting homelessness.

This is to say that the earth presently being aflame is for them a very good thing. They bid it come because to them it’s another sign that Baby Jesus and loon are on their way.
Sad, though. Because Doctor Dumbfuck is an immoral sinner, we’re going be stuck with him on a burning planet for eternity after they all leave earth.

It appears the Biblical prophecy was accurate, though; this time fire, not water, will end the world as we know it. Which makes sense; God isn’t dumb. She already tried fire, but it didn’t work; they’re still here.

Demorat Pornstar Party Of Hate America & Defend Terrorists News – Demorat Scumbag Tries To Kick Wounded Soldier-Congressman Off Stage For Calling Out Demorat Terrorist-defenders.

Rep. Brian Mast (R-FL), a former Explosive Ordnance Disposal tech who lost both legs in Afghanistan, made quite the statement Tuesday when he used part of his time to sit in silence during a congressional hearing, demanding witnesses name a single fallen soldier that doesn’t justify killing Iranian terrorist Qasem Soleimani.
“I want to ask a question which some people may call rhetorical,” Mast said. “If you walk out this hallway and you take a right and another right and another right, you are going to come to several beautiful walls that have the names of our fallen service members on the War on Terror. I would ask, can any of you provide me one name on that wall that does not justify killing Soleimani. I got 2 minutes and 30 seconds, I will be more than happy to sit here and wait. Somebody provide me the name on the wall that does not justify his killing.”
After a long silence, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Eliot Engel said, “The gentleman may continue.”“I am continuing Mr. Chairman,” Mast replied. “I got 2 minutes remaining, I will sit here and wait for somebody to provide me with the name on that wall that did not justify the killing of Soleimani.”
“I think you made your point. You are out of order,” Engel fired back.
“I will not yield back my time,” Mast insisted. “You are out of order for reclaiming my time.”
“You are out of order. You are out of order Mr. Mast. You made your point,” Engel repeated. https://townhall.com/tipsheet/leahbarkoukis/2020/01/15/brian-mast-n2559537

“There is literally nothing wrong with any of this.”
They literally have no other choice.
Think about it. Every single one of these people began this sad decent into degradation by making a conscious decision to accept and normalize what they heard on that Access Hollywood tape. That first step was itself irreversible. And every step since has been just as irreversible. They cannot return from this.
Never Trumpers who dream of a journey back, and shy Trumpers who pray for collective amnesia are living an extended lie merely hoping to run out the clock leaving it all for some future generation to try and make sense of.
Now bear in mind that part of how all that works, part of how they normalize this kind of corruption and criminality is when part of the story falls apart even a little bit. Be assured, some part of Parnas’ allegations will prove to be false. And over running the story and getting ahead of it before all the facts can be corroborated will be how they make peace with it.

Yabbutt, um, Wisconsin… ish.
For a solid year we’ve been hearing about how the GOP Senate/EV map would open up at any moment. Billionaire tax cut was gonna do it. USMCA was gonna do it. Coal Jerbs was gonna do it. Imaginary invisible “pendulum swing” was gonna do it. Hunter Biden* was gonna do it. And now ‘Peachment” “Fuck Off Liberal Hack” gonna do it.
Yet when the gaslight smoke clears all we see is the GOP preparing to trade away their teeny tiny thin little dime for a great big fat nickle. One of the peculiarities built into our Senate system and Electoral College system is that there are times when “consolidating winnings” will produce long term structural losses. DLC Democrats learned this the hard way under Obama.
I guess now it’s the GOP’s turn.
If demographics are destiny Democrats were going to pick up Arizona and North Carolina eventually anyway. Brain cancer, bathroom bills, preexisting conditions, and McCrae Dowless just make it happen sooner.
There are always choices and compromises to be made. The GOP didn’t have to appoint an unhinged racist Trumper to fill McCain’s seat any more than they had to nominate a drunken gang rapist to the Supreme Court.

72
Elijah Dominic McDotcomspews:
Since the opening of the impeachment hearings the White House and the GOP have stuck to a defense script that featured the broad claim that there was nothing “illegal”. That claim was in turn supported by three main claims as follows:
-RapeFantasy Ukraine scheme was “fighting corruption” in Ukraine by ordering withholding of vital military defense assistance;
-Bidens were involved in the corruption;
-No need for a real Senate trial with witnesses and evidence because there’s nothing more to be learned about the scheme.
The documents Parnas shared with the House committee have obliterated all three of those claims.

2019 Seattle A tale of VC in the Craft Beer/Restaurant industry
Mudede has a piece up over at the Stranger about gentrification generally and eateries in particular. It should be right up Dumbfuck’s alley as it ponders what happens when “middle” places are all gone.
Story number one. Homebrewer scrapes up some money and buys a tiny commercial brew set up and starts making really out there beers with strange ingredients in a nearly empty SoDo multi-use building. The beers develop a following among the Uber Beer Nerds which moves over to the foodie types when chefs like Tom Douglas add them to tasting menus because, Shitake Mushroom beer with Glazed duck wings or Sichuan Peppercorn beer with Tandoori Roti or Oolong Tea beer with BBQ Pork Bao (real things at one time at Bravehorse).
The little taproom starts serving a very small menu of inventive small plates (savory watermelon soup?) and is reviewed well and the place is jamming with beer nerds, foodies and growler fillers.
Then the VC guy comes on the scene with a dream of opening a big space in South Lake Union with a celebrity chef and beer dining. So the brewery packs up, buys some more equipment and the place opens to not much notice. It gets reviewed and most of the things being written are about the odd uneven food that’s $20-30 an entree and the beer is largely forgotten. Soon the VC guy fires the chef and switches over to pub grub with a twist (really, you can put peanut butter on a hamburger and dust fries with truffle oil? Zuccini Fritters…in a sandwich?) but it’s South Lake Union so the prices can only come down so far and still pay for the building.
It’s gone now (Q1 2019) and last I heard the homebrewer was contact brewing in Tacoma making standard IPAs under a Label that exists only as a bar and six pack offering but has no taproom and not much notice in the beer world. Trader Joe’s buys and sells a lot of it.
Story number 2:
Local beer couple mortgage everything and open a brewery, again in SoDo. It’s doing pretty well. The beers are selling and the beer community embraces it. Instead of going the food truck route they add a kitchen to the space and the beer brunches become kind of legendary though the week night menu is really just breaking even. The food is a means to the beer. Then they get a contract to sell at Safeco and Century Link. Sounders fans embrace the brewery as a pre-match location. Sounders players are known to come in after matches for food and beers. But they are having trouble keeping up with demand.
So they invite in the VC guy who in exchange for a majority stake (they should have known better) in the company upgrades the brewing capacity nearly triple and things are going great. Then the VC guy notices the food isn’t really profitable so drops it. The weekend brunch crowd disappears as does the prematch eat and drink beforehand crowd. Weekends in SoDo are like a mausoleum in the once busy space.
So the beer isn’t selling as well on premises where a brewery can get all the profit out of a keg instead of selling it at much much smaller margin to a bar or stadium which then realize the bulk of that profit. And tap house selections are a mercurial thing and the next brewer to come along often replaces a handle that’s a couple years old so now the brewery has excess capacity and unsold inventory. After another six months or so of a nearly dead taproom the VC guy adds alcoholic sparkling water over the objections of the founding couple. Then he realizes that adding table sugar to water and letting the yeast do it’s thing is much more profitable per package than barley and hops so he fires the brewing staff and brings in lower cost brewers and more automation and tells the founders it’s his company and he can do what he wants. They sell their remaining interest at a deep discount.
Just read an article about how this new market for Hard Seltzer is booming with Boston Beer and White Claw dominating but smaller companies are hemorrhaging money trying to get a piece of that. I know anecdotally that PCC and Metropolitan market have dropped the local upstart from their shelves. There’s not much ‘local’ loyalty when you’re talking about water, sugar and natural flavor as opposed to in-state sourced hops and Cascadian grown grain. You can name it after a local place but it’s still tap water and sugar and yeast and extracted ‘essence’. You can’t say ‘Artisan, pay me $2 more per 6 than that corporate swill’ when you’re talking about tap water and sugar and flavoring. The company is 100% private so no financials but their CFO left a the end of the year.
The underlying problem isn’t availability of capital it’s that VC doesn’t take the time to really understand a niche market.

Somebody will eventually decode the higher end of alco-pop and get the price point into the range needed to sustain “artisanal” producers. There’s obviously a strong demand for a beverage that is lower in alcohol and lighter bodied*. So with the right marketing and product profile someone will carve off the higher end of the market just like craft brewers did with beer. But it will always be true that the market will be much smaller and will resist scaling efforts.

It’s exciting being a Democrat right now, with so many great candidates contending for the Presidential nomination and so much energy and enthusiasm behind all of them.
For that other party that runs up massive deficits to build tile lined baby rape camps and wage losing trade wars, it’s a little bit different. If you are a Republican voter in Alaska, Arizona, Hawaii, Kansas, Nevada, South Carolina or Virginia you are forbidden to even make a choice about who your nominee will be in 2020. In Minnesota and Georgia they’ll at least let you have a ballot. And you may even be allowed to vote for a candidate other than the psychotic RapeFantasist. But you won’t see any of those other candidate’s names on the ballot and there won’t be any place on it for you to write them in. Similar schemes are being arranged in a few other states at the direction of the Republican National Committee.
On top of all that, they also have to live with the ever-nagging cognitive dissonance of knowing that even after hearing the Access Hollywood tape and their nominees admissions about it they still went ahead and cast their votes for him – having accepted that one way or another he was either a violent serial rapist or clinically insane.
For most of them I suspect they have already given mute acceptance to dictatorship by a madman as their price for victory three years ago.

right or wrong, following the Special Counsel report the GOP was teed up to spend the next eighteen months putting the Special Counsel Office, the FBI, the DOJ, and anyone else the decided might merit it on trial with a White House and Senate bullhorn to back it up. With AG Barr’s backing they were free to launch politically motivated investigations and prosecutions targeting anyone they needed to.
So naturally president RapeFantasy hired a decompensating alcoholic to go on a criminal adventure in Ukraine that would eventually include a plot to assassinate a US ambassador.
Remember it was but a few short months ago that bot-farm troll and the troll media bubble were a ferment of excitement anticipating the next IG report or the next Barr investigation. Now, instead the president is impeached and all that bullshit has been removed from the board. What strikes me is the level of panic and certainty of defeat they must be experiencing in order to blow themselves up this way.
Probably no more than three or four of the Democratic campaigns have enough money to put robust independent polls into the field testing likely electoral outcomes. Most of what we’ve seen publicly are very speculative. But one campaign that has almost certainly been doing lots of these polls is Trump2020. And my guess is if they launched this self-fuckery as far back as Jan of last year it is because their early internal polls were disastrous.

@132 That’s actually a very popular theme, and has been long before Trump came along, among rightwing bleaters. They’ve been flashing that county map for as long as I can remember, as if it’s some sort of proof that America is Republican through and through, and Democrats are an aberration confined to the northeast and “left coast,” when in fact they are the minority party. Various rightwing proposals for “election reform” over the years have included:
(1) Revising the Electoral College to base it on counties instead of states;
(2) Basing voting rights on property ownership, i.e., a billionaire gets 100,000 times more votes than a person worth only $10,000 (this was a favorite of the late Texas oilman H. L. Hunt);
and, of course, the more realistically attainable polling place and voter ID strategies, e.g.,
(3) In Texas, a gun permit is acceptable voting ID, but a University of Texas student ID card is not;
(4) Eliminating mail-in voting and forcing voters to go to an actual physical voting place, and then …
(5) Closing all the voting places in majority-black counties, and
(6) Making residents of Indian reservations drive 50 or 70 miles each way to vote.
Hitler was more efficient about this: He simply banned other parties, did away with elections, and made Hitler Youth membership mandatory for minors.
I’m sure that’s where Republicans would like to take us, especially those who think they’re on a mission from God to save America from liberals. But circumstances compel them to do it one step at a time, instead of all at once.

There is still that contingent of voters who refuse to normalize the necessity of cleaning feces out of the external penile orifice after one man fucks another in the ass.
I believe the term used by your ilk to describe those voters is “Deplorables”.

I’m not celebrating that one of the GOP leading contenders for flipping CT-5 is a lying, child-support evading, credit fraudster, neck deep in Ukrainegate and trying to get a US Ambassador assassinated.
I’m celebrating that he’s so well connected in what passes for insider circles in the modern GOP:

@19 Is there a Republican who hasn’t had a thumbs up pic taken with those fucktards?
Apparently “thumbs up” is a signal to Putin that all is going as planned.
For some odd reason I can imagine that as doctor exits the barn he pauses and takes a thumbs up selfie with the horse and sends it Vladimir.

Not really. It takes work. And it’s about the only real work Trump ever did in his life. You shill for him anyway, because you empathize with what he is.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@29 “well doesn’t that suggest that the House did an incomplete job then?”
Absolutely — it suggests the House didn’t prosecute enough people for contempt of its subpoenas. We can assume Pelosi et al. won’t make that mistake next time. And there will be a next time if this rogue president isn’t removed from office, and especially if he succeeds in cheating and smearing his way to re-election.
It also suggests Susan Collins is toilet paper for Mitch McConnell’s ass. Maine voters might take an interest in that come November.
Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:

Demorat Pornstar Party Of Hate America & Defend Terrorists News – Demorat Scumbag Tries To Kick Wounded Soldier-Congressman Off Stage For Calling Out Demorat Terrorist-defenders.
———-

Elijah Dominic McDotcom spews:
Since the opening of the impeachment hearings the White House and the GOP have stuck to a defense script that featured the broad claim that there was nothing “illegal”. That claim was in turn supported by three main claims as follows:
-RapeFantasy Ukraine scheme was “fighting corruption” in Ukraine by ordering withholding of vital military defense assistance;
-Bidens were involved in the corruption;

@71 I’ve informed Susan Collins’ office that I won’t play poker with her anymore if she insists on deciding which cards in my hand I can play and which ones she can throw out.
A friendly card game is one thing, but it’s something else when the other players cheat to win. Back in Tombstone days, they’d get shot for that. Today, we have to deal with cheaters through elections.
Of course, getting a fair election from cheaters can be a problem, too.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@72 “The documents Parnas shared with the House committee have obliterated all three of those claims.”
Which may help explain why Collins is horrified by the prospect of Parnas testifying in the Senate trial. It’s not easy explaining to voters back home why you voted for corruption instead of against it. That complicates things in an election year.
Roger Rabbit spews:
@75 Things could get real interesting if Trump ever faces criminal tax evasion charges and the jurors pray, “Okay, God, what do you want us to do with him?”

110,
An incumbent, particularly a long serving incumbent, who trails a rando unnamed challenger by 10 points this early is fucked.
As always, the incumbent preferred framing is “steady, reliable, known performer” versus “unknown radical other”. If likely voters are already inclined to go with “unknown radical other” it is because they have settled early on “time for a change for the better” as the alternative frame. And with the challenger as yet undetermined it’s nearly the same thing as “anybody but… the incumbent”. She’s fucked. Rather she is figuratively fucking herself by refusing to do the right thing and vote with the Senate Democrats. That’s all she would have to do.

How DEPLORABLE.

right or wrong, following the Special Counsel report the GOP was teed up to spend the next eighteen months putting the Special Counsel Office, the FBI, the DOJ, and anyone else the decided might merit it on trial with a White House and Senate bullhorn to back it up.
Once poised to go into the campaign season on offense, the GOP is now locked into man-down defense through November. And they did it entirely to themselves. Again.

In our system anything can be “proved wrong” if you are sufficiently pre-determined not to investigate it.
Which is scary in a way, considering how many police still end up getting DUIs. Since in almost all cases they are not blood/breath tested until many hours later (in a few jurisdictions not at all) and they are almost never expected to perform a field sobriety test.

(1) Revising the Electoral College to base it on counties instead of states;
(2) Basing voting rights on property ownership, i.e., a billionaire gets 100,000 times more votes than a person worth only $10,000 (this was a favorite of the late Texas oilman H. L. Hunt);
and, of course, the more realistically attainable polling place and voter ID strategies, e.g.,
(3) In Texas, a gun permit is acceptable voting ID, but a University of Texas student ID card is not;
(4) Eliminating mail-in voting and forcing voters to go to an actual physical voting place, and then …
(5) Closing all the voting places in majority-black counties, and
(6) Making residents of Indian reservations drive 50 or 70 miles each way to vote.

@141 In the American legal system, it’s not possible to defame a Republican, because truth is an absolute defense. Nunes might have better luck in the UK courts, as a British MP, that is if he could find British voters willing to put up with him.
