Iran invites Boeing to take part in Ukrainian jetliner crash probe amid new allegations
The move came after Western leaders said the plane appeared to have been unintentionally hit by a surface-to-air missile near Tehran hours after Iran launched ballistic missiles at two U.S. bases in Iraq to avenge the killing of its top general in an American airstrike.
Iranian officials have ruled out a missile attack, and Cabinet spokesman Ali Rabiei said late Thursday that such allegations “rub salt on a painful wound” for the families of the victims.

If something goes wrong I fix it quickly. Not to go all Puddy but I’m really good at what I do.
So in 2005 I was on a not complex show and the client was handholding the talent on set for the job and I was in MC with not a lot going on. One of my ENGs had left his laptop in my domain logged in. Knew this guy for a decade at least and he was an obsessive fan of this massively successful rock band so much so his wallpaper was a band photo and his web homepage was their site.
And I was bored.
So I redirected his browser to a locally saved HTML and edited the band’s home page to reflect how Neil Peart had been killed in a motorcycle accident. I was enough of a fan myself to know he collected vintage motorcycles.
I created a whole series of hyperlinks that I assumed would be obvious that it was fake. Like quotes from Geddy Lee saying, “If something happened to Alex we could just get any player to slot in but this. is Ringo available? Maybe then but we probably have to call it quits.” And fellow Canadian Celine Deion opening her Vegas show with a Tribute and a heartfelt cover of “The Trees.”
Poor guy comes to his laptop during strike and started to tear up and I knew I had gone too far. I had to buy a really nice dinner that night and he eventually came around that I was actually sorry.
Farewell to a truly great player. Best I ever saw live.

Premature if you ask me. I’ve read more than my share of police reports and LE review board reports. That report does not actually source the claim.
The statement: “He had been a heroin addict for nearly 20 years and had prior legal troubles” reads precisely like the kind of thing the assigned sergeants who perform the investigations make sure gets put into the report, one way or another.
It stands alone as a statement not attributed to any specific witness. But it is worked into a passage seemingly quoting the complaining witness.
You shouldn’t cop to anything until bot-farm shows you the interview notes quoting the witness. It’s even odds she never said it. Although it is almost certainly true. And wouldn’t be at all hard for SPD to uncover and then deliberately plug into the report in order to tune it up for the desired outcome. Still, burden of proof lies on them.

@54 Nicely written. Sad to say, this is my introduction to Rush. I’d heard of them, of course, but I couldn’t name a single song or album. Once a member of three really good Seattle rock bands from 1967 thru 1972, with a funk band in the middle of that, by 1974 I’d completely 100% dropped out of the rock scene.
I’d heard of a guy named Geddy, but didn’t what he did. I just learned a moment ago that he was in Rush. I now understand that Neil Peart was their drummer. I knew the band got a lot of praise through the years. I’ll take a listen later and see if I can hear and start to understand what it was all about. If you could point me to a few of their best songs, that’d be appreciated.
Knowing some the young people involved, I did pay attention to the Seattle grunge scene.
I saw a lot of 60s bands, though. I thought Ginger Baker was the best of the drummers, especially performing live. I saw Blind Faith and, even with Clapton and Woods on stage with him, I couldn’t take my eyes off Ginger. That night he was mesmerizing. Just fucking amazing.

Grohl, 22, was the campaign manager for Orange County Legislator Kevindaryán Luján and also worked on campaigns for state Sen. James Skoufis and Rep. Antonio Delgado, as well as other local political campaigns. She was fondly remembered Monday as a fearless fighter for human rights.

Grohl was diagnosed with the flu on Friday, and an ambulance took her to Montefiore St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, where the decision was made to fly her to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, Majano said.

Democratic Senate candidate Ted Strickland has apologized for a comment he made about former Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia. During a Monday campaign event in Cleveland, Strickland, Ohio’s former governor, had said Scalia’s death “happened at a good time” because of pending court decisions.
In a video posted by NTK Network on YouTube, Strickland is shown speaking to AFL-CIO members about how Supreme Court rulings on labor laws could affect America’s labor unions.
“My friends, a lot of average citizens out there don’t understand the importance of that court,” he said in audio released by the network. “I mean, the death of Scalia saved labor from a terrible decision. And I don’t wish anyone ill, but, it happened at a good time!

This is a true story.
In my work, if I’ve done my job well in the weeks and months of prep and put the right staff and free lancers I trust in place on actual show day I don’t have a lot to do except schmooze the client and keep an eye on the little details that can spiral.

44,
Premature if you ask me.

Again, well written.

Funny. I was at Eagles Auditorium in Seattle when Led Z opened for Vanilla Fudge. They were halfway through their set and I’m like, “God dammit!! Will they EVER get off that FUCKING STAGE!!!” Then Jimmy Page got a violin bow out, sat down on a chair and started playing his guitar with it. At this point I’m like, “STOP!! STOP!! STOP!! ENOUGH!!”
They didn’t make a good first impression with me, but I did like their first album. Their sound got kind of tiresome after that.
I thought the 60s version of Pink Floyd was absolutely fucking horrible. But with Sid gone, they started getting better. Dark Side was fucking amazing.
