So, last week New York had state primaries. I think that most of the people who I follow online were pretty disappointed. I make it a policy to assume that people in other states have it. So I didn’t take a side. But after the election, come the fuck on, my dudes.
2/3 of Democratic voters in New York are sellouts and corrupt? Maybe they like that Cuomo was the first (only?) governor to support the fight for a $15 minimum wage. Or they think the fracking ban is great.
My point isn’t Cuomo qua Cuomo. My point is that Democratic primary voters in New York are some of the most liberal voters in the country. You can be upset about the results without shitting on the voters.

80’s era it most likely would have referred to putting cocaine into someone’s rectum prior to initiating anal sex. More or less fits. Rich, suburban teens with distant, enabling parents raised in an atmosphere of entitlement drinking excessively, doing expensive drugs, and joking around about it. And overcompensating with hyper masculinity, aggression, and teasing about homosexuality.
Don’t know about the nominee. But his best friend Mark Judge screams closeted, self-loathing gender-conflicted male. Florid hyper-masculine prose filled with rape fantasies, long history of substance abuse and failed relationships, deep, abiding hostility toward gender non-conformation. Classic. Roger Rabbit spews:
@20 In this case, “in any way the Committee deems appropriate” means Grassley is “working to set up calls with Kavanaugh and Ford before Thursday’s vote.” Not under oath, mind you. Calls, not testimony.
https://www.cnn.com/2018/09/17/politics/brett-kavanaugh-allegations-future-nomination/index.html
Notice the strategy here? You don’t? Okay, I’ll explain. The strategy is to resolve this by putting Kavanaugh and Ford on a conference call with staffers. This avoids delaying a committee vote, and also avoids a public spectacle, but those considerations are secondary. The real goal here is to prevent the Democrats from getting Kavanaugh’s denial on the record under oath, because even if they get him on the Supreme Court, he could be impeached and removed if he commits perjury in his confirmation hearings.
So the GOP game here will be to keep him from having to testify under oath; and you can safely assume that the harder they try to do that, the less likely they believe him. I’m pretty sure they already know what their nominee’s character is, and not only is he vulnerable, but he could drag them down with him.

I’ll tell you right off the bat this isn’t Roger Rabbit posting under the name “Brett Kavanaugh.” (Sorry, Shortbus, it isn’t me. Really.) I don’t remember going to a single party while in law school. I didn’t get drunk even once during law school. I was too busy studying to have time for “fun,” nor could I afford “fun.” I had nothing going for me but grit and determination and a $160 monthly living allowance from the G.I. Bill, and it’s not easy to party and do law school at the same time under those circumstances. Hell, it’s not easy just to do law school under those circumstances.
But getting back to Kavanaugh’s bragging about how he skated through law school in between drinking binges, which he’d probably been doing for a long time, maybe even back in high school. The moral of this story is: Yeah, someone like him might have gotten drunk at a party, then assaulted a girl, and not remembered it later.

“The women also say that what Ford is alleging ‘is all too consistent with stories we heard and lived while attending Holton. Many of us are survivors ourselves.’ … The signatories span decades at the school ― before, during and after Ford attended. More than 200 women had signed the letter as of late Monday morning.” One signer “said she and some of her schoolmates wrote the letter because hearing Ford’s story felt ‘personal.'”

@37 First of all, we owe the GOP payback for Merrick Garland, who isn’t even a lefty, for crying out loud — Obama chose someone who’d be acceptable to Republicans. He should have been, but the Pukes would’ve blocked any Obama pick, because they had their own plans for that seat. It was they who played dirty, and are owed payback.
But if Kavanaugh fails, that won’t count as the payback we owe the GOP, for two reasons. First, he’s not qualified, so he doesn’t count. Garland was qualified, and when we exact payback for him, it needs to be an even trade. Second, the GOP has a 51-49 Senate majority, so if Kavanaugh fails, obviously it will be because at least two Republicans voted against him, and Republican “no” votes don’t count either. Democrats can’t defeat him, so if he’s defeated, that’s not our doing. For these reasons, even if Kavanaugh is defeated, we’ll still owe the GOP payback for Garland.
If Kavanaugh fails, of course the White House will choose someone else. Trump won’t just leave the seat vacant. Unless, of course, the Democrats take over the Senate in January. As for your suggestion that McConnell will keep the Senate in session to confirm a backup nominee — I’ll say, go right ahead. That means endangered Republican Senators will be stuck in Washington right through the elections while their challengers are campaigning against them back home. You really think McConnell will do that? I don’t. But go ahead and think it, if it makes you happy. You seem like a very unhappy person these days. It sounds like you could use some cheering up.
