Super Bowl Sunday when you don’t have a rooting interest is the best. We only had a few hours of sunshine, but the park was practically empty. I had a great walk, then took a nearly empty bus home. I am generally in favor of more density, but every once in a while, I quite like using public amenities without all of the public.

    The stock market is like some of the executives I work for. I do a schedule update and they lose all sorts of time (for various reasons) and they want to hide it. Before formally issuing the update internally to the higher ups, I give them a final look to see if they have any final comments.     Over the last 200-plus years, the stock market has outperformed every other asset class by a wide margin. All you have to do is get in, stay in, and ignore the ups and downs.

    Given enough time, you can turn $1 into a spectacular sum simply by compounding it at a rate of 5% a year. Anybody can average 5% a year in stocks. That requires no knowledge, no talent, and almost no effort.

    Carl your park would have been a great place for anyone with interests in the stock market yesterday. I suggest market watchers go to a park today…Tuesday..rather than watch. Yesterday human beings up to about three o’clock ran the market down. Then the bots got involved. At this point even the analysts are puzzled. Some traders owning these bots got probably very rich on millions and millions of trades, done at extremely fast speeds. Far faster than a rabbit or doctor even if they wear a red cape with an S.
    Now there is a possibility for the scare factor to come into the market or the herd mentality. And the human inability to really handle numbers. A loss of a over a thousand looks bad, but in relative terms it is not so bad. Still if the herd is ready to bolt the market is going to have a lousy day.
