    I found this interesting. Very long NYT piece. It’s by no means definitive as the data is limitted to states or municipalities where data on traffic stops and race is collected.

    To sum up:
    In cases where blacks were stopped for any traffic violation they were between 1.5 to 5 times more likely depending on the city to be asked to submit to a search of the vehicle than whites.

    And in only two of the fourteen areas did they find that when searched, blacks were statistically equal or more often found with contraband in the vehicle than whites.
