“New York has reportedly opened a civil investigation into whether Credit Suisse lied about engineering tax shelters for U.S. citizens. The probe, led by Benjamin Lawsky, New York’s financial services superintendent, adds to one by the Justice Department into the role that Credit Suisse played in helping U.S. citizens evade taxes. The DOJ could fine the bank over $780M, the amount that UBS paid in a similar case.”

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Oh no! Another crooked bank! You don’t say! Who wudda thunk?
Someday the fines paid by crooked banks for criminal behavior will fund our entire government, and then Republicans won’t have any taxes to complain about.
A lot of those high-roller bankers support Democrats in elections, however. Notice that many of the major banks are headquartered in very blue states.

Grothman is a true troglodyte, of the sort you have to grub around in midwest dirt piles to find nowadays: He’s for smoking and carrying concealed handguns, and against single parents, kindergarten, MLK Day, Kwanzaa, equal pay, and anti-bigotry laws. Wikipedia says he’s never been married and has no children. I’ll bet he’s a closet gay.
A month ago, when Quebec Premier Pauline Marois called the election, she was hoping to turn her Parti Quebecois minority government into a majority, and start the road to Canada’s dissolution, or at least Quebec Independence. Well, Canada survives tonight. The Liberals won 70 seats, PQ 30, and one of the losers, Premier Marois, she lost her seat. Same thing happened to the equivalent at the Federal level in 2011, at the time the Conservatives won their majority and the New Democrats went from the third party to official opposition.

That’s probably because most of the money is in very blue states.
50 years ago, America’s biggest employer was General Motors, where workers made the modern equivalent of $50 dollars an hour. Today, America’s biggest employer is Walmart, where the average wage is $8 dollars an hour.

And people wonder why we are fighting wage inequality and the destruction of the middle class.

No, they care about supporting the Democrats in elections, however. I wonder why.
14,
Well, having money does attract those who wish to have that money for themselves.
