– Am I the only person who thinks Dennis Kucinich shouldn’t come to Washington to run for Congress, but is fine with it if he does?
– Father Michael Ryan, head of St. James Cathedral, tells parishioners in a letter that gathering signatures for Referendum 74 would “prove hurtful and seriously divisive in our community.” (h/t to Howie on Facebook)

Well, good for Fr. Ryan, as far as it goes.
Color me skeptical, though.
Given that St. James parish is in the middle of Capital Hill, and therefore likely has a relatively large proportion of gay Catholics, as well as others likely more socially liberal, than say, a parish in Sedro Wooley, the effect is likely negligible.
They weren’t going to get many signatures there, anyway, and this makes for good optics.
I’d be more impressed if Fr. Ryan decried this:
The Catholic Church using its offices and pulpits and parishes to deny civil rights disgusts me.

Well, I’m glad the Roman Catholic church in WA is so concerned about what consenting adults are doing.
Wouldn’t want them to lose sight of that speck while they’ve got the pedophilia plank in their own eye.

Governor Gregoire has endorsed Suzan DelBene in WA-01.
I don’t know how much of an effect that will have on the race there, but I applaud the new Chris Gregoire for actually taking stands on stuff.

I wonder what atrocities Republicans will commit this week?
Zotz sez: Mitt Romney is a fucking liar. spews:
If Kucinich tries it, I’ll be actively engaged to make him wish he hadn’t.
I agree with almost everything he says (he’s anti-choice as an exception), but how and when he says it is totally clueless and therefore political malpractice. It literally pisses me off when I hear him speak and I’m pretty sure I’m not alone. Ranks just under Ralph Nader for me as all time political idiot. He’s just a caricature and a distraction.
I’d fuck his wife, though. Once.

@9
I feel similarly about Dennis. On paper, love most of what he says – but the delivery is awful.
Partly that’s a reflection of our form-over-substance culture, but I think it’s something bigger – to be a leader, you do need some sort of charisma, and he is really lacking.
He’s anti-choice? Really? Didn’t know that – that’s a deal breaker for me.*
Here’s what Dwight Pelz had to say about him:
*Just did some looking and it seems that Dennis was decidedly anti-choice until 2003, when he was gearing up to run for President. Fuck him.

I like Dennis Kucinich! I’m gonna write him in for him for vice-prez in November.

@11
Or, perhaps not, if CNN be believed:
According to the poll, 52% of registered voters say if the presidential election were held today, they would vote for the president, with 43% saying they would cast a ballot for Romney, the former Massachusetts governor who is making his second bid for the White House.
Either way, Rujax will be on his knees for Obama.
Politically Incorrect - free markets, free minds, free people spews:
bob,
Obama’s gonna win in November. It’s the House and Senate where the important part of the 2012 election will happen. Both the Dems and Reps should concentrate on increasing their seats in those bodies.
I expect the Reps to hold on to the House and possibly gain in the Senate, but they won’t win the White House.
bob spews:
@15:
Mind if I follow the election season along despite your pronouncements?
You seem so sure, even though polls had Dems significantly ahead prior to the Fall in 1980 and in 1988. Seems to me I saw Kerry running ahead of Bush more than just a couple of times in 2004, as well.
Go ahead and plan your celebration. Like painting a room pink before the baby’s born, after a blind guy does the obstetrical ultrasound.
