It wasn’t very long ago that anyone who offered 6% on a 5-year term would have been laughed out of any respectable broker’s office. Hell, you couldn’t get me to tie up money for 5 years for 6% — that’s only 0.2% a year over the official inflation rate. Pretty good deal for the borrower, lousy deal for the lender. I’d rather put my money in historically cheap stocks.

While I understand that we should not take pleasure in the agony of others, the Republican gnashing of teeth and rending of garments that is going on around us does cause me joy. Sorry. The recriminations between the Republican sects concerning why they lost the election are so entertaining. I am most pleased to see that most Republicans are in fantasyland about their loss. They think their brand is fundamentally sound, that this nation really is center-right, and getting Bush out of the way is all they need to have success next time. Oh, the taste of victory is sweet, and the prospect for ongoing victories into my dotage is even sweeter.
Obama will certainly:
– Reverse/ rescind the worldwide family planning “gag order” (also known as the Mexico City policy)
– Reverse the Bush restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem cell research
– Reverse the Bush executive order that stops California from regulating carbon dioxide emissions from automobiles.

But that being said, the state of Washington wont “inherit” a f*ching dime of his estate! Before he died he quit claimed his property as well as he was a Florida resident and as OJ said Florida has funny laws (he lived mostly in Washington but vacationed as well as voted in Florida). Florida has no estate tax!

I think one of the first priorities of the new administration is to push legislation banning Republicans from either bequeathing property at death or inheriting property. All property owned by Republicans at death or bequeathed to Republicans should be funneled to the DNC.
