Class Action Lawsuits Filed Over Alleged Price Fixing Of Eggs
The lede article in Business Week’s online edition tonight alleges that egg prices have jumped because of an illegal price-fixing scheme by egg producers. More laissez-faire capitalism, anyone?

By the numbers: U.S. egg production has dropped since 2000. Current production is 7.5 billion dozen eggs per year (roughly 1 egg per U.S. resident per day). A handful of enormous vertically-integrated producers control 98% of the supply — which creates market conditions overripe for supply manipulation to boost prices.
Sarah Palin’s accusations that Obama wants to bring on “socialism” reminds me of junior high debates. Her cluelessness is so wonderful. She couldn’t define socialism if the First Dude was standing behind her yanking on her ear, which is where he usually is and what he is usually doing. Thank you, Grampy, for sharing this gift with us, this Palin amusement that just keeps giving.
Personally, I think the supply is down because Republicans are hoarding eggs for Inauguration Day.
Is there any substantial difference between contemporary Republicanism (the kind that old Republicans like Christopher Buckley and Colin Powell cannot stomach) and fascism? When we see the remarkable lies that Sarah Putin and John McCain are perpetuating–their “Country First” crap is Hitlerian, too, in its reprehensible arrogance–I have trouble seeing how they are not Nazis. Nonetheless, my good fishing buddy, who is a Republican but says he really doesn’t care who wins this election, said it’s offensive to call Republicans Nazis. The problem is that this new breed of Republicans, which is in fact the inevitable spawn of that nasty, unfortunate Reagan/Gingrich coupling, truly do seem to be fascists.
SJ visited Republican HQ today. I was sort of incognito, identified myself as SJ, said I blog as a photographer with neither rep nor dem commitment (is that true)?
This was combined McC:Dino:Reichert HQ, pretty much f a team effort. Not sure whick faction was running it all but it seemed as if ther head guy was a professional Republican.
I said I was not partial and just wanted to make pix for my blog. Head Guy did not believe me, esp. after he went out and checked my Ferrari for bumber stickers!. I told him my other car has McCain stickers but let me stay.
I ended up taking few pix .. and those by stealth. Not a lot of folks there but those there were intense. No one looked at me. The atmosphere seemed more like a book (illegal betting parlor) I remember from Boston on a losing night than the mood over on Mercer St. (Dem HQ ..Obama et al.). That plus the crew cut muscle guy watching me was .. well intimidating. I did flick a couple of shots w/o looking at the viewfinder but my Nikon is too noisy to do much of that.
Oh well, I left a few Obama Bucks in the Men’s room and out by the BBQ they had set up. I decided I needed a pick me up. So I GPSd over to Darcy/Eastside Dems HQ. WOW! quelle difference! Easily twice the number of people and lots of traffic in and out! Nice folks, posed for me too! Of course I paid for all my pix with Obama bucks.
BTW .. I cruised Clyde hill to look at the Voting Season decorations .. very few MCC signs, no Gregoire signs, but there were signs for Obanma all over! Darcy and Reichert were neck and neck. One lady stopped me to ask what I was doing. She had a German accent so we talked in german. She is a 30 year resident .. Army wife, still not a citizen! Hubby, liberated Dachau. Oh, she is pro Obama! So is hubby! I paid her with Obama bucks too.

Sounds like biden knows that obama will not respond to the crisis in a way that inspires confidence. Influence in the community? What does that mean, telling non-obama supporters that obama is not screwing up big-time?
