Leave it to a donk to include countries who have been totalatarian states for most of their existence and are recently trying to better themselves. It sort of reminds you of the left’s charter school arguements. Of course all the lefts arguements are based on half truths and lies so that is to be expected.

It was the single party that ruled Somalia until the fall of the military government in December 1990 – January 1991. It was violently overthrown by the combined armed revolt of the Somali Salvation Democratic Front (Jabhadda Diimuqraadiga Badbaadinta Soomaaliyeed, SSDF), United Somali Congress (USC), Somali National Movement (SNM), and the Somali Patriotic Movement (SPM) together with the non-violent political oppositions of the Somali Democratic Movement (SDM), the Somali Democratic Alliance (SDA) and the Somali Manifesto Group (SMG).

The next 30 years were a period of political turmoil. On August 3, 1975, mercenary Bob Denard, with clandestine support from Jacques Foccart and the French government, removed president Ahmed Abdallah from office in an armed coup and replaced him with United National Front of the Comoros (UNF) member Prince Said Mohammed Jaffar. Months later, in January 1976, Jaffar was ousted in favor of his Minister of Defense Ali Soilih.[15] At this time, the population of Mayotte voted against independence from France in two referendums. The first, held in December 1974, won 63.8% support for maintaining ties with France, while the second, held in February 1976, confirmed that vote with an overwhelming 99.4%. The three remaining islands, ruled by President Soilih, instituted a number of socialist and isolationist policies that soon strained relations with France. On May 13, 1978, Bob Denard returned to overthrow President Soilih and re-instate Abdallah with the support of the French and South African governments. During Soilih’s brief rule, he faced seven additional coup attempts until he was finally forced from office and killed.[15]
In contrast to Soilih, Abdallah’s presidency was marked by authoritarian rule and increased adherence to traditional Islam[16] and the country was renamed the Federal and Islamic Republic of Comoros (République Fédérale Islamique des Comores; جمهورية القمر الإتحادية الإسلامية ). Abdallah continued as president until 1989 when, fearing a probable coup d’état, he signed a decree ordering the Presidential Guard, led by Bob Denard, to disarm the armed forces. Shortly after the signing of the decree, Abdallah was allegedly shot dead in his office by a disgruntled military officer, though later sources claim an anti-tank missile launched into his bedroom killed him.[17] Although Denard was also injured, it is suspected that Abdallah’s killer was a soldier under his command.[18] A few days later, Bob Denard was evacuated to South Africa by French paratroopers. Said Mohamed Djohar, Soilih’s older half-brother, then became president and served until September 1995 when Bob Denard returned and attempted another coup. This time France intervened with paratroopers and forced Denard to surrender.[19][20] The French removed Djohar to Reunion, and the Paris-backed Mohamed Taki Abdulkarim became president by election. He led the country from 1996, during a time of labor crises, government suppression, and secessionist conflicts, until his death November 1998. He was succeeded by Interim President Tadjidine Ben Said Massounde.

I see the Hilton/Spears ad as more immature and juvenile, than racist. Barack Obama has not called the ad racist, nor have most Americans. And somehow I don’t think the Hilton/Spears ad is particularly harmful to Obama’s standing with voters.
I saw something on YouTube that I thought was particularly funny. The clip had footage of Britney Spears praising Bush and the Iraq War, interspersed with similar comments by John McCain. The suggestion was that a McCain/Spears ticket would be ideal.
SOMEBODY should refine that clip a little more, get a couple hundred grand of “independent money”, and run the ad on a few stations, so that the news media really pick up on it. That would be an ideal comeback to McCain’s Spears/Hilton ad.

Unfortunately, since al gore invented the internets what the liberal could hush up now gets out.
In a dramatic reversal of policy, Democratic presidential hopeful Barack Obama on Saturday told supporters on the Space Coast he no longer favors slashing NASA’s budget, declaring that the United States “cannot cede our leadership in space.”
Of course obama has to flip flop, all his policies suck, and by his actions he knows it. Obviously he didn’t expect his words to be used against him.
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Monday shows the race for the White House is tied with Barack Obama and John McCain each attracting 44% of the vote. However, when “leaners” are included, it’s McCain 47% and Obama 46%.
This is the first time McCain has enjoyed even a statistically insignificant advantage of any sort since Obama clinched the Democratic nomination on June
Of course being up 1 is within the margin of error, no big deal. No big deal except that obama should be up big against mcsame and those bush republicans.
Maybe goldy can start working on his “mcsame stole the election” post, what else could he say when obama loses. Oh yeah, it’s because the majority of amercians are racist.

Of course obama has to flip flop, all his policies suck, and by his actions he knows it.
And how is this different from why McCain has flip-flopped on every issue? The stupider the voters get, the more politicians have to flip-flop. Both of them are doing it, and it’s because the media isn’t doing a good job of explaining that things like off-shore drilling are bad ideas that don’t make sense.

No, you spend your time writing about me. HAHAHAHA
There are three major steps I will take to achieve this goal – steps that will yield real results by the end of my first term in office.
First, we will help states like Michigan build the fuel-efficient cars we need, and we will get one million 150 mile-per-gallon plug-in hybrids on our roads within six years.
…
Finally, the third step I will take is to call on businesses, government, and the American people to meet the goal of reducing our demand for electricity 15%
So 1 million “plug in hybrids” on the road while at the same time we are reducing our demand for electricity 15%. Since there is going to be a greater demand for electricity because of Step 1, what will we the people have to do, unplug our refrigerators and light bulbs to make his step 3 work? Even without 1 million new energy sucking plug-in hybrids a drop of 15% would be tough considering the population is expanding. And if obama steals the election, even more will come to take advantage of the vote-buying schemes the democrats use.

Even being a democrat doesn’t protect you from the racist attacks anymore, just ask bill clinton, the first black president.

I think Obama’s response would be this is possible through the use of more efficient technology in our homes, appliances, etc. How well this argument holds up under close scrutiny I have no idea. I’ve no doubt there are many hurdles along the way, including some that are unforeseen. That said, this is a national discussion we have to have. I have issues with Obama (including his apparent shifting views on offshore drilling), but I’m pretty much in agreement with his overall thinking on the subject.

Businesses would also be a big part of that as well. There’s a significant amount of energy consumption in office buildings that one could likely reduce with some minimal effort.

Sadr Shifts Strategy in Iraq
Hit by a government military crackdown and dwindling popular support, anti-American Shiite cleric Muqtada al-Sadr is planning a major shift in strategy: re-branding and disarming the Mahdi Army by turning the militia into a civic and social service organization, a move that could further enhance the stability of Iraq
@42
Yep, that’s exactly what Hizbollah and Hamas did. We have two choices right now. Accept that the people who’ve been blowing up our soldiers are going to be an integral part of Iraq’s future and let them govern themselves again, or stay there for years in a hopeless mission to root out organizations that don’t like us.
We would be very wise to learn from the mistakes that Israel has made over the years in this regard.

Leaving is the plan more or less in the case of both candidates, with (big) caveats regarding the “residual force” and dates. I believe all of this could change, even in the case of Obama, if the current improvements are reversed. But that’s another discussion we may never have.
@45 Leaving is the plan more or less in the case of both candidates, with (big) caveats regarding the “residual force” and dates.
That’s not necessarily what we’ve been hearing from McCain, but if he’s elected, it’s possible he won’t have much of a choice.
I believe all of this could change, even in the case of Obama, if the current improvements are reversed.
Maybe, and that’s really what separates the two candidates in my mind. If the Iraqis start to feel that the occupation is not ending soon, Sadr’s forces will strengthen, and violence could escalate. I worry that McCain will not grasp the root causes of such a shift and believe that the answer is to once again get further entrenched.
This is closely related to why I believe that it’s problematic to think of the surge as having been successful. It sets us up for continual failure – by masking the downsides to greater entrenchment by focusing on things like the Anbar awakening, which were unrelated. As I mentioned before, the Israelis got themselves into this problem where they always saw disengagement as the more perilous of options. They became convinced that allowing people in the Palestinian territories to govern themselves was always a more dangerous proposition than actively occupying them.
I simply trust Obama more not to get caught up in this faulty logic, but unless America as a whole gains a better understanding of how this works, Obama may get forced into doing things the wrong way. And believe me, people in the Arab world (see: Yassir Arafat) know how to exploit this tendency.

I’ve gotta get some more material from you first. Can’t you claim that some small town mayor caught in a scandal must be a Democrat because the paper didn’t mention his political affiliation? What about claiming that a bogus non-peer reviewed paper on global warming shows that Al Gore is a bad, bad boy?

While Lee is as stupid as any of the right wingers here- he does have a point.
Marv the pervert – who claims he doesn’t respond to me – and then does – won’t EVER provide links in conversations where he’s been challenged. He’s never done it. He’s never backed up any of his assertions and cannot because the pursuit of 10-year-olds is his first priority.
And Lee – you cannot possibly know whether the right burned down Darcy’s house or not. So stick that up your ass and quit sucking right wing dick.

I could spend all day posting obamas flip flops.
Unfortunately, since al gore invented the internets what the liberal could hush up now gets out.
Of course obama has to flip flop, all his policies suck, and by his actions he knows it. Obviously he didn’t expect his words to be used against him.

Was that sentence supposed to make sense?
Of course obama has to flip flop, all his policies suck, and by his actions he knows it.
And how is this different from why McCain has flip-flopped on every issue? The stupider the voters get, the more politicians have to flip-flop. Both of them are doing it, and it’s because the media isn’t doing a good job of explaining that things like off-shore drilling are bad ideas that don’t make sense.
Of course being up 1 is within the margin of error, no big deal. No big deal except that obama should be up big against mcsame and those bush republicans.
If you look at state-by-state polling, he is.

Awfully confident there, Marvin! Can’t wait till November…

Nope, just the people who forced McCain to flip-flop on immigration.

From obama’s websitetalking about his energy policies-
So 1 million “plug in hybrids” on the road while at the same time we are reducing our demand for electricity 15%. Since there is going to be a greater demand for electricity because of Step 1, what will we the people have to do, unplug our refrigerators and light bulbs to make his step 3 work? Even without 1 million new energy sucking plug-in hybrids a drop of 15% would be tough considering the population is expanding. And if obama steals the election, even more will come to take advantage of the vote-buying schemes the democrats use.
michael spews:
I voted!
I paused at Sam Reeds name, I’ve voted for him in the last two elections, but in the end voted straight big “D.”
Had Reed switched to independent I probably would have voted for him again. But, right now saying that that you’re Republican or GOP means that you’re down with McCain, W. and the corruption express and that’s just not cool by me.

Another democrat playing the race card, complete with pictures of the KKK in her ad. Obviously her opponent is some racist right-wing republican. No doubt her opponent would insist he’s not a racist and he would try to point to the obama posters on his wall AND his support for obama before super tuesday AND his introducing the recent resolution apologizing for slavery.

If the Bush regime wanted lower gas prices – which they do not – they’d open up the reserves.
And if the oil companies want to drill – they can on the 48 million acres they already hold leases on in the lower 48 but have not touched.
Truth?
Right wing wants oil as an issue not interested in solving any problems.
Oil companies don’t want to drill – they want to grab public land.
Bush regime doesn’t want anything but the money. Same with McSame.
