    Um, irenic is a real word. It’s the process of being a peacemaker. It usually has religious context, so an irenic gesture might be a Catholic trying to understand something from an Anglican Communion point of view. But when I use it, it’s usually a secular meaning of the same. So in this case, I was saying that Goldy swearing at Boeing executives was being too nice to them.

    Switzerland’s Defense ministry is reporting a slight increase in the number of recruits judged unfit for service. Even though they have a draft, the Swiss do have some minimum requirements to serve. One of the reasons, is they don’t want to give military training and an assault rifle to security risks.

    The part of Texas that surprised me building rail transit, was suburban Denton County(in the DFW Metroplex). Dallas itself has built up an impressive light rail network, and it continues to grow, but there have been accusations that it benefits suburban to Downtown commutes at the expense of intracity service. DART is saying that the Oak Cliff streetcar, which is under construction, will be the first of many.

Obummer promised a robust economy… All we see is a busted economy. Joe BiteME promised up to 500,000 jobs a month with the Obummer economic plan and DUMMOCRETINS running the House and Senate.

    The subject of the latest debunked Obamacare horror story is finally talking, and of course it’s to Fox News. Julie Boonstra is a Michigan resident with leukemia, and she appeared in an Americans For Prosperity ad against Democratic Senate candidate Rep. Gary Peters, saying that Obamacare made her cancer treatment unaffordable because of out of pocket spending. Subsequent fact checking, though, found that her monthly premium payments were essentially cut in half, and the limits the law imposes on out of pocket expenses means that at worse, she’d break even between those costs and her premium saving. The ad also implied she lost access to her doctor, though fact checking determined that her doctor is included in the plan she picked on the exchange.
