I’m feeling a lot better, and am headed back to work. But I didn’t prepare anything in the last couple sick days. So, yeah.

    Apparently there are times in which influence-peddling isn’t an impediment to effective governance. At least if you’re an Oregon Democrat.

    58% of Oregon adults say Governor John Kitzhaber should resign, according to this latest exclusive KATU 2 News Poll conducted by SurveyUSA. 36% say Kitzhaber should remain in office. Republicans say Kitzhaber should resign by a 4:1 margin; independents by a margin of 2:1. Democrats say Kitzhaber should remain in office by a slim 5:4 margin.

    I haven’t dug into this issue much, but given what I’ve seen so far he should probably resign, just because I’d like to believe that politicians should be held to a higher standard than the populace at large and they should be hyper-aware that their loved ones’ actions have consequences.

    That being said, I don’t know what you’re trying to prove with your multitudinous posts about the matter, @2/@4 (and about 5 on yesterday’s OT), except of course that those with political affiliations tend to close ranks, like Republicans in Virginia around Bob McDonnell:

    More or less. I was thinking VA gov as well, and glad you brought it up for balance.

    This one

    1) hits close to home
    2) nicely contrasts Kitzhaber and the disaster that was Cover Oregon with our Jay Inslee and the successful WA health care rollout.
    3) serves as a reminder that while things seem to be going pretty well in WA, other states don’t seem to be sharing that success.

    As far as what I might be trying to prove, not much. But people like Better had no idea what was happening, and people like Rujax! seem not to know the difference between a state governor and a US senator. I haven’t seen much else posted, I had the time, and I figured that sticking to news items was a reasonably safe thing to do.

    Kitzhaber Has Resigned Effective Next Wednesday

    CNBC reported a few minutes ago that Gov. John Kitzhaber has resigned, effective next Wednesday, and will be replaced by Secretary of State Kate Brown, also a Democrat. (Oregon doesn’t have a Lieutenant Governor.)

    Kitzhaber was brought down by influence-peddling allegations against his fiancee, Cylvia Hayes. At this point, there’s no direct indication that Kitzhaber himself did anything wrong, although he can be criticized for turning a blind eye to her paid activities for various organizations and the potential conflicts of interest it created.

    Oregon’s attorney general has opened a criminal investigation against Hayes, including for alleged tax evasion. (Oregon has a state income tax.)

    Kitzhaber waffled about resigning for several days, but finally bowed to pressure from legislative leaders, including those of his own party. Unlike Republicans, the Democrats don’t sweep scandals under the rug or protect their own when they misbehave. That’s one of the many differences between us and them.

Seems only fair that Kitzhaber’s stuff – especially the shit he tried to delete and the emails that the state AG ordered his squeeze not to delete – get similar review, wouldn’t you say?     As stated before which you can verify from the yellowishleakingbuttspigot in the crazed databaze, we had just moved here from NY and Puddy owned an expensive turbo-charged European car. Strapped in the back seat were Puddy’s two sons, both in car seats due to their age and weight. A Mukilteo police officer trailed me down WA-525 to the Mukilteo Recreation Center; which at the time had a day care in bottom floor on the early 90s. Puddy got out with both sons and took them into the rec center to sign them up for the child care. Puddy also noticed the police car pull off to the side and watch Puddy as Puddy extracted the two sons from their car seats. About 10 minutes later the police car was still there. He watched me strap both sons back into their car seats.

    I left going back up WA-525 doing the 35 MPH speed limit. When Puddy crested hill near the post office the police officer pulled Puddy over. He then asked for the license and registration check. Puddy asked why did he pull Puddy over, as was this a driving while black in an expensive European turbo-charged car. He looked at Puddy and tried to formulate a response for the next five seconds or so as Puddy had him dead to rights. All he said was he was no. Then Puddy asked him what law or laws did Puddy break. He said none. So Puddy asked why did he stop Puddy. He claimed no reason, then he gave back the Puddy license and registration and told Puddy to have a nice day.

    Puddy had to answer to Puddy’s sons why did the cop pull Puddy over. Puddy told them it was no valid reason. Later Puddy reminded them of that incident when they got their licenses. Puddy bought one a Pontiac GP supercharged and the other a Toyota MR-2 supercharged. Puddy reminded both of them of what a car like that means to WA State police people and as a remember to watch their step no matter where they are in WA State.

    Hence, Puddy been all over the US and it’s in New England and WA State where Puddy was DWB! Nuff said!
