This will probably get me in trouble with Tom Perkins — he may even call me a Nazi — but Paul Singer is a horse’s ass.
Singer is an attorney who became a billionaire by buying up distressed debt and then suing people who can’t pay their debts.
He “feels for the poor but thinks increasing the minimum wage is a terrible idea.” He says, “These movements are politically motivated – a way for politicians to fake compassion.”
In other words, Singer thinks all you $7.25/hr. workers out there deserve some warm fuzzy, but as for paying you more money … nope.

You’d think people like Perkins and Singer could afford professional PR advice. Since they can’t (or are too cheap), here’s my free advice: You clueless morons would be better off if you just kept your mouths shut, because every time you open your mouths, you stick both feet in.
So why would I give free PR advice to billionaires? Simple. Because I’m afraid their idiocy will generate so much backlash it may trickle all the way down to lowly thousandaires like me someday.

This has encouraging and scary implications. Could you give this to conservatives and the 1% and have them become actually care about people outside their tribe?
If we found it worked well, would it be ethical to treat their behavior as mental illness and make them wear a Oxytocin patch to treat their illness?
If 40% of all current jobs can be automated in the next 20 years, in crude numbers
does that means that all businesses can expect a 40% drop in sales?
or that 100% of most businesses that make their money off of discretionary spending will be getting 0%?
Seems the economy would tank badly if 40% of aggregate demand vanished.
Either way, it seems that a lot of rich people who seem to think the money will never stop for them, are going to find out they were wrong.
Do we tax the remaining people with jobs and remaining people with wealth, to transfer their money to the people without jobs to keep them from starving and rioting?

Here’s one of the best essays I’ve read on why the notion that the economic elite are better qualified to run the world than the rest of us is pure poppycock. It takes a little time to read, but is worth the effort. Shorter version: Markets randomly choose winners and losers, and if a person comes out on top (i.e. is “successful”), it’s because he’s lucky not smart.
