– This is the polite way of saying the CRC is fucked, right?
– I have nothing to add about Dinesh D’Souza, but his defenders make me sad.
– After a while, I stopped linking to Macklemore local-boy-makes-good stories. I mean he was crushing it, so whatever at a certain point. But I will say, I’m glad he’s pissing off the right people.
– Oh, Northwest rate payers are subsidizing Kentucky. Seems fair.

Criticizing Billionaires Equates With Holocaust Dep’t
This will probably get me in trouble with Tom Perkins — he may even call me a Nazi — but Paul Singer is a horse’s ass.
Singer is an attorney who became a billionaire by buying up distressed debt and then suing people who can’t pay their debts.
He “feels for the poor but thinks increasing the minimum wage is a terrible idea.” He says, “These movements are politically motivated – a way for politicians to fake compassion.”
In other words, Singer thinks all you $7.25/hr. workers out there deserve some warm fuzzy, but as for paying you more money … nope.

Roger Rabbit Commentary: Another clueless billionaire who can’t understand how people like him get such a bad rap.
Roger Rabbit spews:
You’d think people like Perkins and Singer could afford professional PR advice. Since they can’t (or are too cheap), here’s my free advice: You clueless morons would be better off if you just kept your mouths shut, because every time you open your mouths, you stick both feet in.
Roger Rabbit spews:
So why would I give free PR advice to billionaires? Simple. Because I’m afraid their idiocy will generate so much backlash it may trickle all the way down to lowly thousandaires like me someday.

GOP Sen. Marco Rubio has this advice for single women on how to lift themselves out of poverty: Marry money.

This has encouraging and scary implications. Could you give this to conservatives and the 1% and have them become actually care about people outside their tribe?
If we found it worked well, would it be ethical to treat their behavior as mental illness and make them wear a Oxytocin patch to treat their illness?

If 40% of all current jobs can be automated in the next 20 years, in crude numbers
does that means that all businesses can expect a 40% drop in sales?
or that 100% of most businesses that make their money off of discretionary spending will be getting 0%?
Seems the economy would tank badly if 40% of aggregate demand vanished.
Either way, it seems that a lot of rich people who seem to think the money will never stop for them, are going to find out they were wrong.

Do we tax the remaining people with jobs and remaining people with wealth, to transfer their money to the people without jobs to keep them from starving and rioting?
Get rid of computers?
Build really really high protective walls around the compounds like the castles of old to keep out the invading hordes? So really all the zombie movies are a metaphor of the 1% vs everyone else?

Rodney Tom didn’t get invited to Davos, neener neener.

Here’s one of the best essays I’ve read on why the notion that the economic elite are better qualified to run the world than the rest of us is pure poppycock. It takes a little time to read, but is worth the effort. Shorter version: Markets randomly choose winners and losers, and if a person comes out on top (i.e. is “successful”), it’s because he’s lucky not smart.

We so need to find a way teach empathy to these people.

Republicans roll out (wait for it)…..BRISTOL PALIN….to attack Wendy Davis in ongoing sexist smear impugning her skills as a parent.
Bristol fucking Palin….attacking Wendy Davis??? Will the hilarity never end? I think 2014 is going to be a VERY GOOD year.
No Time for Fascists spews:
Not about Wendy Davis in specific, but I hate this double standard.
How many conservatives ask the men if they balance career and kids at the same time? Have you EVER heard them say “His ambition and ego were so big he couldn’t have both a career and kids at the same time!”
Why do conservatives demand that it’s a woman’s job to take care of the kids, before career?
Did they ask Romney to focus on his children?
Hell, did they demand Palin focus on raising her kids?
Roger Rabbit spews:
Trotting out children to attack the opposition party’s candidates? What’s next, giving their kids guns, and telling them to go out and shoot liberals? There’s a word for people who recruit kids to do their dirty work for them, but I forget what it is.
